This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Does age really matter?

"Age matters. When you get past 5 years difference you start to notice a gap in understanding between each other. It's like a quarter of a generation between y'all, so differences in point of view can be seen."

I can see where your frustration is coming from, winning only third place after all your hard work (plus your moves are great too) but you do have to consider...

that you were up against a cowboy and a samurai. I mean OMFG! thats a COWBOY AND SAMURAI!

What language do you speak and/or want to learn?

1 year 10 months ago

"I only speak English fluenty.

I speak Cantonese and Japanese somewhat okay.

I speak Mandarin and Spanish barely, but understand and can read quite a bit.

I can read French and Korean barely.

I have touched upon most major languages of the world. Name it and I probably studied it for just a little bit.
Right now I just want to master Cantonese and Japanese. I would like to learn Italian, Thai, Dutch, and German."

"Well, there are these four tricks that are the very basic of all the tricks... We call them the Fundamentals. Most anybody who's seen someone pen spin has seen a Fundamental. You could pretty much do the Fundamentals with anything provided it has a decent center of balance and nothing much to block the circular motions. Number 2 pencils are really great for spinning, but most people tend to spin modded pens/markers/sign pens/etc. I myself am spinning a modded pen which is made from 4 different pens. It has REALLY good center of balance and a good amount of weight on the ends so that it carries good momentum. And it's pretty long compared to most writing pens and weighs more too.

But of course, a #2 pencil always works too. Most spinners have a personal preference but they can be generally be divided into several groups: pen spinners, pencil spinners, marker spinners (aka magic wands lol).

If you want to get to my level, you may want to spend about 5-7 months, depending on the quality of your practice sessions. I've been spinning for about 8 months and during the first 5 months I kinda wasted my time on trivial things so I didn't advance as quickly as others. I spin about 30 minutes to an hour every single day. Some days I go for several hours at a time just to get a single trick or combo down.

And yes, there are plenty of websites devoted to this kinda thing. My sig has a link to a board I frequent almost everyday. I'm like the only spinner in my area so I don't have anybody to turn to here. I turn to the Internet. *shrugs*"

"I don't know about those other guys, but me I only do it when I have spare time. I'm out of school so I do it whenever I have time to breathe.

And contrary to popular belief, most spinners do not really advance greatly during class time. They just do simple tricks during class because it's less likely to fall and make noise. The spinning you're seeing is probably because they weren't studying or doing their homework XD"

I don't think it is possible by just watching the anime. But If you take a Japanese grammar book (to know how sentences works), a dictionary (to know what some words means and how to write then) and watching the anime to know how to pronunce the words I think you can learn the language.

That's probably a pretty good way of starting. It would take A LOT of self-motivation and will power. I mean, most people watch anime to enjoy themselves, not as a class lesson. =p But if someone actually does this, many kudos to them! It takes so much motivation to even dig out the dictionary and grammar book."

"Eh, I didn't really get to listen to many of their songs. I only heard two songs, "Remember the Name" and "Where'd You Go." "Remember the Name" was pretty tight because Tak and Ryu really ripped it up in that one. Mike was kinda so-so because his rhyme scheme was kinda basic and didn't take advantage of the beat. "Where'd You Go" has a pretty bad flow to it. Like, the bridge has one sentence running on into the other and you had to wait for the end of the 3rd sentence to figure out where the rhyme was. Not to mention the entire song seems like one of those "I'm-tired-of-waiting-for-you-even-though-you-have-a-valid-reason-to-go-but-I'm-the-real-victim-here" type songs. I still don't get the part about that girl's "career."

So yeah, I've heard reviews that the album was kinda dissappointing overall. I should listen to a few more songs before I say anything else."

Syn
but that I'm saying it in that way just to make a more comprehensive reading. Also I started my sentence with "Japanese or Nihongo" so I'm mentioning the language first and then I cannot say that a language has three languages, that does not exist. So, the first premise is incorrect. Then we will have to figure out if I was speaking about dialects or not.

Well, it's quite obvious that you cannot be talking about 3 languages within a single language, unless you were talking about dialects; that I will not argue with you about. Nevertheless, you used the word "languages" to describe the scripts used in Japanese. Nevermind about underestimating the reader, the matter of the fact is that you used a word that describes vocabulary, grammar, and culture to substitute a word describing the written scripts of a language.

Syn
So if the last one it's correct, the people who read it have the ability to distinguish between what's a fact, and what's a deduction. If someone understood that I was speaking of dialects, ok, it’s fine but He has to take in account that it's his own deduction. If not he can ask (and also we have now stated that there is not refutable to say that scripts are dialects, but we have not state their truth neither). So don't underestimate people.

You of all people should understand quite well that if you're going to make statements about anything, assumptions shouldn't be made about the reader. How can you be so sure that the reader has the ability to distinguish between what's truly fact and what's merely a deduction? The reason why I was being an asshole in the first place is because you asserted that statement and the terminology was unclear. I'm sure your intentions are good, but the tone set in the post was assertive and seemed as if you were some authority in the matter. And if you are, please be careful in the future. You never know if someone will take your information, twist the contents, and spread false information to others. I have no proof that any of this will happen, but I'm quite sure that the possibility exists.

Syn
But finally I want to say, It's ok to talk right. But there are ways of saying things. You could've said "Syn, look, it’s a bit confusing, better to use the correct terminology". Fine, I would've said, “Ok, if it's confusing let's clarify it”. But not. You're way of saying things it totally pedant and annoying.

This may be the only irony you're waiting for. Yes, I could've been a bit more polite. But before you walk away from here, I want you to consider something. Having spent 3+ years on the language, asking endless questions, and even embarassing myself in front of natives, it's a bit disturbing to see people on the internet spouting nonsensical information about something that I have spent so much time on. I'm not saying that you were giving wrong information. Please consider that."

there are to many ways of saying one thing in Japanese...

Btw using Ore and Boku ( I) is mostly for men. Ore is a bit macho and Boku is for boys.

It's true, there's so many ways to say one thing in Japanese...

Anyways, boku can also be used by girls. I think tomboy-ish girls will use boku sometimes, and this may be a bit off topic, but boku is used by women in songs as well. It's used sometimes. I have heard of this one girl that used "ore" but let's just say she wasn't really lady-like."
