This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

You need papers to download scans, yes. However, you don't have to BUY them necessarily. Check the faq for more details... basically, just be active on the website and you'll be fine.

"They look really nice.

To me, they look like rough sketches of something to be much greater. Your form is a tiny bit off, but overall really really good. Most of them look like sketches, if you refine the lines on some of them they would look really good that way too. If you did color them, I would do water color because of how rough drawn some of them are, water color just seems like a good base because you cant really control its perfection, but still. They are really nice. I really liked the Full Moon fanart. Great job."

"Very unique.

I really like how the lines have a simplistic form. You have a good individual style, it different, simple, and cute. Something colored would be nice to see as well. Good job. I really like them."

"I post here on this forum from time to time, but usually only when I'm working on something new. Here's one I did, and now need to color. I wanted to add a background, but wasn't sure of what to do. And because of that I haven't colored it yet. Something like a rough style...yeah that might be nice.

Anyway. Took an entire night on Deleter Illustrator, I should really use PS more often, I want to, then I would fly @_@. But I'm happy just floating for now. Somewhere around 30 layers. I read a crap load of Air Gear manga chapters, and really like the style of art, so I kinda tried it out, only a little though. Mostly in the eyes, and not much elsewhere.

I really like the design overall. I love the jeans, and the flow of her hair. I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to hair. I sometimes have a hard time accepting hair can flow however it wants to when given the chance.

Any ideas on a background would be cool. Thanks for any comments in advance and enjoy

" 27 layers I think

Done in Deleter CG Illustrator 2.

I really like how her dress moves, and her hair to me could use some touch ups here and there. The hardest detail I just couldn't get right was her eye. Couldn't get the style right. or rather. Find a style that worked with the flow or the entire picture. The grass could have been better, but it works. I also couldn't for the life of me get her nose right. 2 months ago it looked just fine. But when I looked at it, poof. It didn't and I was compelled to fix it. I'm still somewhat not happy with it. But it works. I really liked the idea of the dandelion...puffy..things floating around (I think thats what they are..name escapes me..) I just like to draw pretty things and somehow I come out wanting to do more realistic things, especially with hair. But overall, I really liked how this turned out. I think I'll color it soon, and give it more of a watercolor touch is PS or Deleter. Not sure..

Terribly sorry to hear 'bout you and your friend.

Onto your workpiece. The idea you're trying to present is great. But then again there're some things that you might/could have taken note. The soda bottles, though they're decently done, a little more detail to make their shapes almost identical wouldn't really hurt. :) Not unless you did it in a hurry. :O 'sides those, the shirt could use a little work as well, the shading's great, but the shirt itself, it has a weird shape around the edges to it(nearest to the waist), but I can't really put a finger on it. Moving upwards, the face looks alright, but it lacks expression, or maybe I couldn't make out the expression on the character. And just a question, did you miss out an eye or did you left it as it is? The hair looks kinda messy but I guess you might've known about that.

But all in all, I love the idea. So keep up the good work and keep practicing too. :D

During the drawings process, I wasnt really going for perfection but more of a visual style that demonstrated how I felt about the whole situaton. I meant to leave only one eye becuase to me, it looked better then to have two, because the one presented gives off a 'lost in thought' expression. Or maybe a 'so this is how it is..'
thanks for your input too.

shokunin
I like this. It's very personal, and more than just a pretty picture. The symbols are very personal to you, and might not be picked up on by other people, but that's all right, because this seems like more of a personal thing for you. I'm sorry you and your friend have parted ways. I sometimes think the parting of friends and family is the one thing that is inevitable. I've said goodbye to many friends, and worse, I've said goodbye to family. Best friends who no longer share similar beliefs and values that I do. My mother passed when I was young, and my brother is missing, presumed dead. I have trouble expressing those things in art, but you've done a fine job here and I feel this is a success because of that.

Well you are right that it is personal and more then just what you see. I didnt really worry about if people would understand or pick up on anything or take it for what it was. Just posting my work >>;; But on to your reasoning. Inevitable can sometimes be avoided upon agreeing with eachother, but in my situation there were just too many secrets. I too have said goodbye or parted ways with many friends, and as for family lol, they have parted ways themselves. This is actually my first time expressing memories or emotions for a specific purpose. I thank you for your comment very much.
Sorry to hear about your brother. u_u

Yozora
waii~ all the ramune bottles seems to cute X3 so, i don't really wanna comment on them.
uhh, the proportion for the abdoment for the girl seems a little off and the neck is a little long. that's all.
The shading were very well done, though and i really enjoy looking at it. it makes me think how terrible my shading is T-T

These days I dont really draw the body, then put clothes over it. I just..draw it lol. I used to use the body as a reference of where clothes should fold or overlap. I wasnt going for perfection I guess >>;; The next I think attributes to her body, because I've never tried to draw a body shape in this style. And as for shading, I used to never shade, but Blending Tortillions are really helpfull. :o look them up sometime. ^^ Thanks so much for your comment as well"

"I'd type a simple bio for it. But I'll paste the specifics from MT since I'm lazy.
This has been done for about a week.

The drawings background/story: Recently a good friend and myself have parted ways, and are not longer "friends". Many feelings, thoughts and differences exploded, and nether of us ever had a chance. The occurrence of this particular situation birthed the idea of this drawing. I decided to let it all go, and move on. But still felt some differences on the whole situation. I drew this picture to vent out all the "left overs" but more then that, to for fill a promise I had made many years ago, but never conceived the power or thought for it until now.

Details and Symbolism
-Why a stool? Because only one person can sit on it.
-The bottles represent memories.
-The bottles in the back represent "then", and the bottles in the front represent "now". As you can see, not many memories happen now then they did then. And they wont anymore.
-I think the bottles being fully shaded "then" demonstrate them being "full" or "true". And the bottles as they become closer are half shaded or "half full" represent memories that could have been better.
-Why do I have a shadow? Because it shows that in the end of it all, all I had left and kept was "myself" It could also show that everyone has an ugly "dark" side that maybe no one likes about you and will never tell you. Maybe that not even you know about. And that when its all over and done with, damage included you realize it or you don't.
-The bottles have full shadows because it shows they "could" have been full.
-Only one bottle remains under my chair because its the one I chose to keep. And that one I will not say.

Other information:

I used the usual 0.5 mechanical pencil on this one. Blending tortillions (sticks), and that's all. I wanted to try a different style with body shape and also shading, which a good example would be her shirt and legs. I sketched some lines close together and outlined around them. I've also never once drawn hands in that position, so if they are a bit iffy I'm sorry for that. I think they came out alright though. Overall enjoy to everyone.

"Wow lol. I thought this thread had already been long gone eh oh well. But I do appreciate very much all the good and bad comments. No offense taken on any of what said. The first one, which many seem to bash on, that is in my opinion a sketch. What is drawn is not concrete. I realize and lol, know of the mistakes stated already. These drawings purposes, were practice for me to get back on track with my drawing. So thanks for all the comments, I really do appreciate them. ^_^ For those of you who did not see it, here is the post with 2 new drawings

"First one is a pilot. At first she was a catgirl. But the clothing wasnt working. thought of a fluffy collar and poof. This is the end result.
Note: Her left arm yes, to me at times seems a bit short. I'm still debating on whether or not to fix it. I am doing more drawings of her though. So I'll always have another chance anyway to improve or fix her ^_^

Second is a ninja based drawing. Her hands yes, are too small, and I plan to update it. I thought about not posting it, but oh well. More shading and such will be done.

"I really like how everything is placed face wise. I would leave her mouth open. I just like the style of it XD And I would not add angel wings. Clothing hmm. I think clothing and such would disturb the line work or character over all. The elf ears I really like. I think you should add body art, like painting or symbols or more over designs. And Maybe some slight jewerly. Like maybe a headress ornament jewel centered from her forehead. I really do like it. Overall sketch work is pretty good. ^_^"

"Lol. The face paint is a trademark of Reva. In my story I plan to illustrate, she's a queen, but not of of those fancy frilly queens ^^

And the guy on the left, Siren, he doesnt really have a big head, just fluffy hair ^_^;

And the girl in the middle, her hair is not small lol, she is wearing a hat, kinda like a jester hat, you just cant see it all."

"Lol, Actually I dont hide hands. I used to be bad at them but who hasnt? lol But on the clothing. No I used no reference for anyof it ^_^ All from my head. The hands in the above image are hidden by either clothing or pose. Which was my original intention not that I couldnt. But I do thank you for commented all in all. Helps and is much appreciated. XD

The one with the girl on the right you commented about. Its face paint she put around her eyes. Or like eye shadow lol."

"Ok first one is 3 of my own original characters I plan on using later on. My hand was stressed and sore at the time, so some things about it I know are messed up. From left to right is Siren, Evanrued and Reva Adune.

Siren: yes its a guy. I was going for a different style in his eyes, but my hand would not allow it. The outfit he is wearing is a simple one, I plan on having he and the others under go dramatic or at least better changes. And yes, he has his hand/arm around Evanrued's. Why? Because, it demonstrates his infatuation and bond with her. lol I'm not going to go in to detail of the plot, but you can ask if interested.

Evanrued: I really did not want her eyes to turn out like that. But hey what can I say. I'm still developing her outfit, always seems like its missing something. But the hat, I will say is a deffinate keep. Her over all outfit style will remain, but just a few additions or alterations may be done.

Reva Adune: Well she has many outfits, I kinda just drew one that came to mind, or at least one I knew she would eventurally wear later on. She is Siren's mother.

I may fix things up when my hand isnt bothering me.

Routine Rain (newest drawing)

3 years 1 month ago

"This is for ShiNN XD

Ok the details. Normal materials or at least the usual ones.

At first, her right arm was up holding her hat down, but it wasnt working out, plus the idea to have it out the way it is now came up and I went with it. I was having trouble with her outfit, mostly idea wise. Kimono wasnt working.

I know the sword could use some detail, but, I like it the way it is. I submitted this on MT, and I have gotten remarks about her nose. And in my opinion, its just a style.

::Reasoning behind the drawing::

ShiNN was getting fed up with some things going about MT, and so, I symbolized those certain things as "Rain". And they seems to happen often, so thats why I used the word "Routine". Put two and two together XD

Enjoy

I posted the link and image incase anyone has problems with either.

"Lol. I really dont know. But in regards to a few points made on it:

The feet: Sometimes when I look at it, they look wierd, and sometimes they dont. I think I could just place it as a trick of the eye sort of thing. Some people dont notice it, and some do. Or they just dont mind it. Though I wouldnt really say it a particular area of the whole piece that brings it down.

Strange Factor: lol! Yeah I have been told that. I guess I could call it strange, I sometimes cant explain it myself. I just kinda thought of a girl who was an artist, and decided to have her paint herself.

Color: I am planning to do a line version of this sometime soon. And when I do, I will most deffinatly color. lol But what colors to use, that will be tricky.

Story: No there is no story actually. See the contest I entered it in, had defferent sections to enter in. I did the "Artist" one. The basis was to draw a character who was an artist, doing something artsy. So, after about 7 mental images/ideas this one popped up. Simple really, she painted the Monarch butterfly wings on the wall behind her, then painted herself. The idea of body paintings is a very simple one, and sometimes has meaning, I just did it in my own way from imagination. lol, I just kinda let it flow. And this is what I got.

Thanks for all the comments everyone ^_^

"I did this for a contest a while back. So thats what the purpose of this one was.

Materials:
----------
0.5 Mechanical Pencil
Blending Tortillions
Pink Pearl Eraser
---------

When I think of this one, it makes me think deep, as if it has another meaning. And it might lol. Still love it though.

No references used. All from thought.

Enjoy.

"Yeah, the skull on the right was done from memory, and to me looks more cartoonish, since the one on the left was done from a real life skull reference image, so it has a more realistic look to it. But I dunno, I guess they look ok in the end. I was still happy in the end with this one. lol. "

"An another one. Hm well, This was meant to be a commission when I first did it, the person wanted a romantic picnic scene. >_> It never worked out. Because what ended up being drawn was a girl summoning the dead. Sometimes I question my self about this one lol. Same materials used: 0.5 mechanical pencil, Blending tortillions, Pink Pearl eraser:

This one was my first one doing printed lace.
The skull behind her was done from memory and the skull coming from the headstone was done from reference images. Outfit and style is my own and no other references were used.

Enjoy ^^

a good reference medium wouldbe chobits

let's not forget the "gothic & lolita bible"

Yes that as well XD

I as well had a hard time with ruffles as well, I would recommend referencing for those. lol, a good reference medium wouldbe chobits, there's lots of frills and ruffles in chobits lol. But anyway, I'm sure if you just work from reference, and then experiment from that reference, it might all work out. Or at least thats how it worked for me. Good luck XD

XD lol actually yah I tried that b4! Chobits iz a very VERY good reference for ruffles..i can draw them just fine when I'm looking at another picture of them..but for some reason my brain can't comprehend the *for now* without a picture..so they turn out looking like..*above picture* lol. Actually I did a lesson for our anime club (i was the art director last year) on ruffles and folds and etc. and i mainly used pictures from chobits ^^;..'cuz I couldn't do it right otherwise..*haha*..thanks for the recommendation though..I blame these evil hands of mine..lol.

lol XD I see I'm not the only one who referenced Chobits. But yes, I would really experiment on the way the ruffles look. I remember when I would try to draw something, I would try to make it look like what it did in my head, focusing on trying to make it look like I wanted it to, but would go about it the same way each time. Experimenting with style is really a good help. I would just try different ways, and if you dont like it, erase XD T'what its for. Experiment till you get what you want. And of course with the help of the referenced materials. ^_^"
