You are missing the main point. Evolution is formulated through real hard evidence and science while Intelligent design beliefs are merely beliefs with no evidence behind them. Therefore, evolution should be taught in a SCIENCE class while Intelligent Design should be taught elsewhere. This could still be at a school, just not in science class. The purpose of science classes are to teach SCIENCE, not creation myths or Intelligent Design stories.

I agree that people should get both points of view. Knowing multiple points of view is key to being a knowledgable and well-rounded person.

One last thing...I've never liked the comparison between evolution and Intelligent Design because people like to confuse evolution as the scientific version of a creation myth. This is only PARTIALLY true. It's the parts of the theory that do NOT relate to the origin of life that are well accepted. The origin of life and early evolution into separate phyla is largely speculation and only loosely supported by actual evidence and thus, this part of the theory is still not agreed upon, with multiple explanations bound by the same theory. However, the fact that evolution occurs is not an argument (at least to scientists).
