This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

what do you think about death note ending (for people who already finished the anime)

The manga ending was fascinating; I'm not sure if the anime can beat it, but we'll see as soon as I can find episode 37."

What kind of ending do you hate the most?
1 year 2 months ago
"I don't like endings period, but in general my least favorite ending is a cliffhanger. I don't care if how the story ends is good, bad, sad, unexpected, cliché, whatever, but for God's sakes, tie up loose ends. I hate when a storyline that doesn't intend to have a sequel does not complete the story for every known character.Example—I know this is pertaining to manga, but with DN, the end of volume 12 itself wrapped up some storylines, instituting Near as L, Aizawa as the new police chief and such. If that wasn't enough, How to Read 13 shows the fate of nearly every character.
Compare that to Champloo's ending, where they go their separate ways and then you have no clue what happens to them.
It must seem odd that I like closure, as I'm a fanfic writer and closure often eliminates many creative storylines, but I just can't stand final endings that are cliffhangers. If there's gonna be a sequel, then by all means go ahead, but if this is the last work you intend to do on this project, wrap up the damn story.

Death Note 12

"I didn't see a DN thread in this topic, which was quite surprising, but I figured that meant I was free to start this.Who's read volume 12, the ending to Death Note? There's a lot of contention on the ending from a lot of fans, so I want to know what the rest of you thought about it. I'll interject my opinions later."

Are there any dubs you consider top-notch?
2 years 5 months ago
"Fullmetal Alchemist: Paku Romi was great, and I enjoyed listening to her speak, but the dub is so much better in my opinion for one single reason—Vic Mignogna. I'm not really sure if I've ever heard another voice actor so good at expressing character and emotions. Every time Ed gets furious and starts screaming or loses sight of his goal and gives a depressing speech, I can hear the emotion in it. Vic captures everything about Ed's essence with his voice, and he's the one reason I see the dub as 10x better than the original.Samurai Champloo: I've never even listened to the sub because the dub was so good. I don't think anyone can capture Mugen's attitude the way it's done in the English dub. I just like Jin's reserved voice and I think Fuu's fits a 15 year old girl with her demeanor. It's just a good dubbing job.
Cowboy Bebop: I'll leave this space empty, since all I'd be doing is reiterating what everyone else has said.
Evangelion: Just another example of the English voices perfectly capturing a character's attitude and what they're all about. You just can't argue that Rei's monotone, soft, barely audible and insanely creepy voice isn't a perfect fit (in addition, Megumi Hayashibara is such an accomplished voice actress that I can recognize her voice any time, and for someone as...err...different...as Rei, I don't want something familiar that I know from other, less...err...different...characters), and that Spike Spencer's rendition of Shinji (the whiny, high-pitched, non-excited voice) doesn't just represent him the way he should be. Same goes for Asuka.
A lot of things Geneon does are dubbed well. FUNimation...not so much. But it redeemed itself a bit with FMA. A dub is only as good as its voice actors, so if a show isn't willing to use some cash and pursue the right people who have the talents and voices that will match with the characters, they probably won't have a good dub. A lot of dubs are actually well-done, but many people get turned off of them after downloading episodes online and never even hearing a dub. I also think Naruto and InuYasha kind of ruined the dub experience for people who were already a little sub-inclined. =P No characters in InuYasha are vocally represented well, and the English voice of Naruto makes me want to hurl."

what do you think of love hina?
2 years 6 months ago
"Same here. I fell in love with the manga, and then the voices and the character designs just screwed up the perfection of Ken Akamatsu's creation, so I stuck with reading and not watching. But I haven't had Love Hina in so long that I might give in and get the series on DVD just to relive it all. ^_^;"

Couples that never came to be
2 years 6 months ago
"My all-time is definitely Ed and Winry. Or at least Ed and Rose. Or Ed and somebody. After everything he went through, he got nothing. But after seeing that Ed and Winry didn't end up together, I got pissed like you wouldn't believe. That's what fanfics are for, I guess.Shinji and ANYBODY is another one. I don't think he and Asuka really end up together in EoE, it's just that he and Asuka become the new Adam and Eve, to begin the human race again. You should also note that because Asuka died at the hands of the production model Eva series and the Eve-Asuka has brown eyes, that she is probably not Asuka but a being representing the combination of Misato, Rei, and Asuka.
All of Rumiko Takahashi's works end in romantic cliffhangers or empty spaces, where you can't really tell anything between the couple. Ranma and InuYasha are examples.
There's really too many to count. Maybe Keitaro and every girl except Naru? ^_^; Possibly Fuu and Jin/Mugen. Dunno.
But Ed and Winry...definitely my all-time."

FMA live-action movie
2 years 8 months ago
"I completely agree with shirahime. For some reason, when I try to imagine FMA in live-action, it's just not...real. Ed's one of those characters that you just fall in love with and you can't really visualize him any other way. In a less obvious way, Al and Mustang are too. I'm sure with a good director and a nice cast, it could be an appealing movie to those who never got into the anime, but for devoted fans like myself and others...I just don't see it working. It almost feels to me as if messing with the FMA formula in any way will disrupt the amazing magic it has. So I'd rather not see a live-action movie come out. A sequel to Conquerer of Shambala would be nice, though."

do you belive in god?
2 years 9 months ago
"Yeah, I really do. There was a time when I lost my iPod, and thought it was never coming back, and just as I ran out of options and gave up, the next day on the bus a guy returned it to me, saying he bought it without knowing it was stolen and had just discovered it was mine. He wasn't pressured to do it, because I hadn't spoken to the cops or anything. I felt like something had decided that I could have it back.Same thing has happened countless times in sports when I've prayed, and at other times in life. I can debate every point, but there's no use, because most atheists are stubborn and believe the universe magically card-stacked itself into existance from nothing. Either way, I have been profoundly affected by my faith and its rewards numerous times in my life, and yes, I do believe in God."

I'm hoping I can find some people to give me their honest opinion on the story because I don't see a point in continuing it if nobody's even reading it (I had to re-post it for lack of hits, and it turns out on this new one I've only got 11)."View
Why do you think the anime finsh before the manga
2 years 9 months ago
"There are actually a lot of reasons. For one, it's as ecristy said: anime that are aired on TV usually have one new episode per week, and most manga volumes are released one per month. That three week difference begins to pile up after a while, creating a rift in the ending of the anime and the ending of the manga, even though they're essentially the same story. For anime that are released on DVD only, it's still the basic concept, except they're usually released at a slower pace than manga volumes. However, most manga serializations have more volumes and chapters than anime series' based off of them, which brings me to my next point:All anime that is based off of manga is just that: based off of it. They don't replicate the story and everything to the exact detail because there'd be no fun in looking at the exact same series twice, just in two different media forms. So when manga is adapted into an anime, some story arcs are shortened and some cut off altogether, some episodes made into arcs when they were just a single chapter to begin with. There's a lot of scene editing and moving around to make a successful anime that meets the broadcast requirements of 13 episodes, 26 episodes or 52 episodes. Once the production company determines how long the show will last, it's their job to fit the beginning and the endâ??and the plot points they deem "important"â??in together in that span of time. In the process, something always ends up shorter or unexplained.
