After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

TRC: Kurogane + Fai Wallpaper in need of assistance

"I definitely dig the 70% black opacity one - a bit of green, but dusty and gray enough. The blue one has an interesting touch of loneliness, forlorn-ness (for lack of a better word). I love the texture, and nothing really shouts out as a major issue. Text-wise, I wonder if there's any way you could make it be more like the textured, gray, dusty feeling of the wall without losing its clarity...? It seems pretty decent as it is.Can't wait to see the final piece! :D"

"There are a few jagged edges (like everyone's already pointed out) on the left, which you should clean up. Otherwise, I pretty like the blue glow in the background. It works pretty well. I do suggest adding more to it, though. It might be nice to see some white stars/sparkles as well as the blue. Sprinkles of more blue sparkles might look nice too. Just play around with it! :)I'm pretty okay with the text "Dark", but I definitely suggest moving "Angel" up so it's closer to "Dark". I personally suggest using Garamond or something similar for "Angel" and making it smaller, then moving it to the side, so there's variation in the type. You should then move the text entirely downwards a little so it's in the middle and not floating at the top. White might look nice for "Angel". There would be some contrast with "Dark" that way.
Well, I hope I was helpful. >_< Good luck! I can't wait to see the finished piece!"

"I definitely think you should do without all the black. If you need to fill it up, try some other shade of pink and then make a border (maybe you can continue the one you already have) so it stretches out into the empty bits as well, or else it'd look cutoff. If you can get better scans, I definitely suggest switching. Your wall is a little blurry...Otherwise, it's quite impressive for a complete first time! Good luck!"

any coments or sujestions on my wall?
2 years 10 months ago
"Hm, I definitely suggest working on your background. At the moment, it's very "flat" and doesn't really "interact" with your scan very well. For this scan, I suggest either a "realistic" background - maybe something like a street with streetlamps and other buildings, or something abstract, brushy, atmospheric, that wouldn't be too hard to pull off with some good brushes and textures and a bit of time. If you want to make it all dreamy and sparkly, it'd be nice to brush a little over the scan as well so it blends into the wall a little more.Is the scan you have black and white or did you make it black and white? If it isn't black and white originally, I think the color would look better. You could try going for a completely black-and-white (and grays), flat, stylistic background if you want to keep it black and white...
Other than that, I suggest playing around with the text a bit more. Try different fonts, glows, colors until you get something that's elegant and striking! Good luck!"

"I definitely like the new color for "Kon". I still think that the font on the bottom should be simpler, especially because it's smaller, and too much detail makes it look a little messy. I guess the wall's pretty much all done now... good luck!"View

"Maybe it'd be interesting if you tried used a solid font for "Kon" with the color being orange - a sort of Kon-y orange. That might help put the piece together a little more... Just a thought! :)"View

"Well, I definitely think the extra red glow works! :) It seems to put a bit more focus on the foreground. I think the image of Sasuke put into Naruto's eyes works too. Good job!I still suggest playing around with the font a little more, though. Try font and font size variations, and maybe play around with the placement of the different words. Although the red color you've used works pretty well with the current wall, maybe you could try some white and work around with the glow color to see if you can come up with something that sticks out more (if you want the text to stick out more, that is)?
There's definitely an improvement! Can't wait to see the finished piece! :D"

HELP!!!
2 years 10 months ago
"If you still have the PSD (or whatever program you use) file on hand and you still want to improve this piece to make it acceptable, here are some suggestions:1. If you want to create "sparkly" effects, don't use Dissolve, but try using brushes instead. You can find some nice sparkly/starry brushes on sites like Hybrid Genesis.
2. I definitely suggest using stock photos, textures, brushes and effects to making a more interesting background. I don't think a solid background really suits the scan and the kind of effect you seem to be trying to go for. I suggest removing the border and everything you have now and working on the background from scratch.
3. When you have a nice background, try using a large, soft eraser (the default 2oopx/300px ones on Photoshop are nice) and blend! Blending will create a nice, soft, dreamy wallpaper instead of the pixelly one you have now.
Whatever you choose to do with this wall, good luck!"

"Firstly, I suggest moving the kanji under the nose instead of having it over. In fact, it might look nice if it came down vertically on the side of "K". I suggest changing the font of the text under Kon to a more elegant one like Garamond, something that looks like the font on the kanji.Maybe you could also tweak the colors on your vector so both Kons have the same skin color? I'm sorry if it's actually the same. ^^" *Bad eyes*
Good job on the vectoring - Kon looks really cute! Good luck. :)"

"I definitely approve of the sharp quality on the foreground Naruto, as well as the contrast with the background. The background images are really too blurry, though. I think a little blurring and maybe opacity-adjustment as well as brushing/texturing over both just the two images in the back as well as the entire piece might give it more "oneness" as well as allow the back to be faded off without being too blurry, but I'm not sure if brushing/texturing will be able to create the kind of atmosphere you're trying to go for.Maybe more of the red-light effect you have behind the main Naruto image could be used to send the back images to the background?
Also, try using alternative font sizes for your text - the variation might make it look more interesting. I would also suggest trying some other fonts - there's nothing wrong with using Garamond once in awhile either - it has an elegant feel that might balance out the aggressive feeling of the wall."

"The crispness and the use of only black and white gives this a very nice dynamic effect, which is great. But I do think you need to add more, because it lacks a sort of "atmosphere" or "concept". I definitely suggest maybe adding some title-text - if you use the right font and place it properly, it acts as a polishing, refining effect.Additionally, maybe you could add some grays into the piece? Some light gray ornaments (not too big) in the white background might give it a fancy feel. Or you could alternatively make "cutouts" on the black part. If you want to keep the current focused, dynamic, simple-and-completely-black sort of feel, maybe you could just add something near the text.
Well, I hope I was a little helpful... Good luck! :)"

Suggestions for a Kurogane from Tsubasa (TRC) Wall

"Wow, that must have been a lot of work. The coloring is awesome - it's manga-style, smooth and excellently implemented with the original strokes. I can't tell that it was added on at all.I guess the only thing that's missing would be, I can't really put my finger on it... but some... oomph. There IS focus in the wall, but maybe not enough. I'm not sure, but maybe it might work better if you the pages got dimmer near the back, more sorrowful..? I love the antiquated feel of the coloring, and I think it looks fine flat...
The vibrancy of the colors are sort of dimmer in the 2nd and 4th (from the right) pages anyway, so maybe the 3rd and 5th (especially the 3rd) could be a little more... brown as well? It might be interesting for it to get even browner or something like that..?
I love it pretty much as it is anyway, though. ^_^b Good job!"

new Carnelian wallpaper, what do you think?

"I am really liking the whole concept and composition of the wall! It's dynamic, interesting and somewhat poignant. I think the radial background needs a little more messing around with though, because at the moment the feeling and texture of it is still a little too "radial blur" than paint/draw so it sticks out a little bit. I think this wallpaper would look much nicer with a more unified feel. Good job, though! I'm looking forward to see how this goes!"View

"Groovy vectoring! I still thing that you should go for a more vectored look (why don't you just vector it?) for the background. Try gradients, solid colors, polka dots and all sorts of fun vector patterns and things to see if you can come up with something very dynamic, interesting and clean-looking. If you want to use a unvectorish background, try adding textures and brushes over both the vector and the background, set at different filters (Soft Light is a good one) to blend the two together a little more. It's looking good! Keep up the fab work."

Second attempt at a wallpaper: TRC

"Hmm... I like it! The overall feeling of this wall is very clean, very serene and you obviously have a lot of potential. The scan of Sakura has a straight edge on the top-right, though, which you should try shift up or even try redrawing yourself. I would definitely suggest changing the glow color you used (did you use one?) - the blue-gray would look better if its hue was more similar to the color scheme.I like the shadowing you've done, but I don't really get your pillows. They don't exactly look very much like pillows, and the bedspread doesn't look much like a bedspread. You should try to clarify this - maybe find alternate photos? Or maybe you should find an anime-style bedspread scan to merge in instead. At the moment the coloring and everything of the background make it feel very much like one of those aged papers with the dried leaves and flowers on them, and dried leaves below Sakura and Syaoran. That's kind of pretty as well, so you might want to work with that concept instead, and perhaps add more variety in the pattern at the back.
I'm really looking forward to how this will turn out - good luck!"

"Well, the coloring on the main scan looks a bit better, and I like how you filled in the left side. Still needs more cleaning though - why don't you go to the gallery to see if you can find a higher quality version of the same scan or find a variety of other scans that might work better? A bit more detail in the background would be nice. An improvement on your first."View
