After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

why is woman more vain than man??

1 year 11 months ago

"Woman are prettier per nature, and they worry about keeping that ? =p

I mean, in every species one of the gender is the attractive one (for instance, in some birds it's the male), and the attractive one always pays a lot of attention for that as per instinct

I only think woman are following their instinct, and let me tell you, I think they are right: take a look at how most man think, it's all about looks and body and so on, thus in short, the prettier have a higher chance of getting her genes passed on, know what I mean? =p

But still 1 hour is a little too much? don't too much water in the end do bad for your skin? haha"

how is the country where you live ?

1 year 11 months ago

"Hmmm I have been away from animePaper for a while since I am busy with tests and stuff (end of the year sucks!) but I have to talk about my stupid country.

Brazil is just depressing. Government is corrupt, justice is never done (I just read a news on how more than 200 important politicians have been sued in the past year and about 3~4 only have been imprisioned, and I do mean important like in senate and so on), our president is illiterate (he did not even finish high-school) and while he is the president, even a garbage man must have high-school in resume to get the job (I don't know who are the most stupid, people who can ellect a moron, or the moron himself). Ok people got what they deserved but it does not stop from being just sad.

Theft and robbery are everyday occurances which the government tries to hide at all costs, the main Tourist atractions like Rio de Janeiro are pools of violence and crime but sure most Tourists come unaware of that only to get robbed or worst (last week an Itallian tourist got killed in one of the most important and visited beaches in Rio de Janeiro) and so on

Not to mention how manu Brazilians I find at the internet only stirring trouble, look at Orkut, 50% Brazilians, what's that all about? people here don't know even how to use a computer but they can tell you all about how to put stupid pictures in orkut.

I'm not so proud of my country and I would never suggest a foreing friend to come and get robbed... I mean ... come and visit me =/"

Ghibli Studios

"I have only watched two of their movies but it's fair to say that from those I like them. Yet, not as far as saying I would love them (why people insist on rating stuff as love/hate? T_T).

I will watch some more movies soon as my friend will borrow me some, but as for now, I believe that they are way better than Disney. I was getting tired from the routine Disney movies, always about the same stuff and same public, only changing characters and setting, but not content =x"

"It's an interesting feature, though I feel a little unconfortable having to choose "Love" of "Hate". I saw only a few anime and I don't think I would rate any A+, so "Love" is not really how I feel about any of them - but I also don't hate them =x

But as a start I think it's ok ;)"

is it legal to download anime?

Drusila

A question just poped up in my mind, isn´t it illegal to upload and download Images from books, magazines and such things. I mean there has to be copyright on that material so basicly scans would be illegal to? or am I thinking in the wrong direction?

Still illegal, even one image. But I believe it's such a small thing that nobody cares, probably works more like advertising. I think that if it were illegal (or companies cared), sites such as these would have been in trouble, and I don't see that happening.

Philideous-Alucard
As long as its not licensed in your country... its not illegal..

No, it's illegal either way by international laws. Being licensed only means there is a local company that will enforce it - being not licensed the original company (Japanese) would be the one to enforce it, but certainly they can't do it worldwide. By what others said, it seams some american companies even license months before actually airing it just to prevent piracy (or try)

potoki
rules were made for broke them :P

I don't think you would say that if it were your work that were stolen without you being paid :P

hmmm yeah seams that gom123 copied and pasted my post, weird >_<;

[bug] forums last page link

2 years 5 months ago

"Hello, first time posting at suggestions, this might be worth mentioning since it's also about last page.

When I browse a scan category, upon reaching the last (not THE last, some times even several pages) are blank. For instance, I was browsing this category:

http://www.animepaper.net/gallery/scans/Carnelian/

It says "15" pages (304 itens), but pages 13, 14 and 15 are blank with this message:

No Scans
Sorry, there are no scans for this category or tag, why not try adding some or tagging some scans appropriately! Thanks.

"Lol aside from the good people I noticed that reads other people comments, most just blindly reply, amazing heh, I'm starting to get what you mean by spamming just for papers.

@ Roderick: Yeah, I can't afford either, as I mentioned I can't help it but either borrow or get pirated (I think I'll start downloading >_<). About it not being good I don't agree, everything, from books to movies, series, games, etc.. have their good and bad stuff, most often bad stuff. Take a look at movies that get to theaters every month, you will be lucky if one is worth the pay ~ same with anime I guess, so I don't think it's fair to say "anime" as a whole is not worth it. Also, if it's catchy ... I think that's the whole point ;) make us addicts that can't help it but buy (or pirate? >.>)

@ Spentzar: Tell that for all those people sued and even arrested at napster, or sites that keep getting shut down for trying to distribute movies. Just because the internet introduced a VERY EASY way to pirate and copy stuff, it does not make it right nor legal.

Anyway, I think I'll try to get one Ghibli movie for my a birthday or something when time comes ... at least I get some money as present so I can spend in imports T_T man, taxes gere top 80% sometimes, and they include the shipping, I hate government pigs feasting on us, even on DVD imports gee >_<"

The Anime Industry

2 years 5 months ago

"As a newcommer to anime and thus not really know studio names, I would just drop this small insight: I figure they are fancing really well and doing a great job, since so much non-Japanese people on this site love anime and their work, and me, a simple student at Brazil got to know anime from borrowing some CDs from a fanatic friend ;)

If they reach that far, I guess they are doing not a good job, a amazing job =D I know there must be some black sheeps among them doing lousy jobs (every industry has them), but looks clear the good ones are doing just fine. And there is a saying here in Brazil that goes like this: "If the team is winning, you don't change it"

my 2 cents, than again, as someone new to all this."

"Amazing how much people post without reading even the first page heh.

Roderick, about your questions:

1. I live in Brazil, yes it would cost more than I could ever affort to import an DVD (and there are like no local versions), but that still does not make it legal nor right to download/get pirated versions of it.

2. I watched very few anime myself, so I can't say that "no anime deserve money", but if that was so, how come so many fans and lovers are gathered at this site? Also, as I found out from the internet, the titles you mentioned are the ones that are most profitable for their respective companies because they sell a lot of merchandising, so although I don't know much about this quality (rumor has it they are not the best), and despite their being what you can fanserviced or not, people still worked to produce them, they are still protected by international copyright laws, and it is still illegal and wrong to get them for free.

Also I don't think one was ever meant to buy anime titles that spans dozens of episodes like these with more than a hundrer titles. They are more like to watch as they air and forget it, like Simpsons, can you imagine how much one would spent to buy all Simpsons seasons? I know there are people who buy them, but it would be the eventual hardcore fan. Normal fans watch it as it airs and that's it, we are not being FORCED to buy anything you know =p

I think that if you are willing to say anime is not worth to be paid, so why don't you don't download them as well =p"

is it legal to download anime?

2 years 5 months ago

"I just want to add my two cents here since it seams people don't get to an agreement about something so obvious as this. The short obvious answer is yes, it is illegal, how getting for free something that hundreds of people worked for and paid for to produce, and than SALE and distribute under copyrighted laws would be legal? there are no "buts", everything said on this thread about "depents" or "buts" is false. Downloading anime or any other copyrighted material without strictly written permission is illegal, period.

Downloading Licensed or Unlicensed material on your country still is illegal. All countries that have signed the Berne copyright convention (most of them have) recognizes a copyright worldwide as soon as it is copyrighted in any of the participant countries.

There are only very very very few instances of free legal anime download, which would be usually the first episode (or part) distributed online at the distributor's site under the distributor's permission (this is starting to be common on US distributor sites)

However, does it really matter if it's legal or not? Law is just a piece of paper that authorities come up trying to follow common sense and protect the hard work of others - so the question you must ask if you want to get to the bottom of this is: is it ETHIC to download for free anime?

Big no.

I never downloaded an anime so far (I guess I would, but so far I borrowed fansubs - illegal - from friends) but regardless of source this is still unethical and "illegal". Some coutries won't say it's illegal, some will but don't care, but ethics remain, and it is not fair to get for free something someone created as their work, to earn money. Seeyus and designers work - it's their job - while creating an anime, and they deserve to be paid. Any anime fan, regardless of getting anime for free or not, should at least acknowledge that the authors and people behind anime deserve restitution for their work. I am starting to like more and more anime, but I can't buy it (there is nowhere to buy where I live, imports are overly taxed, and I don't know Japanese, so I have few "legal" options, all of them overpriced), so I am unfortunate that I will have to keep on the unethical side, but I will never say it's right or that people who did this don't deserve to be paid. If one day I visit Japan and find some english subbed DVD's I will surelly buy, even if I watched, just for the sake of having the original thing at my home, and the satisfaction of having paid those fine artists for their work and thus providing them insentive to keep doing a good work."

Lots of money -- fast!

2 years 5 months ago

"I had a friend who did a lot of money by buying and selling cars. He would search lots of used cars sales and buy one that would be underpriced (like, someone desperate to make the sale), and than he would get the same car and sell for like 10~20% more. He told me it was very easy to find an underpriced car as long as you didn't car for which car (since you will sell it latter, that's not a problem), and than the small problem was that it could take a few weeks/months to sell it back overpriced.

Yet, in a year he managed to turn his old wolks into a bran new ford only doing that. I lost contact with him, but he made like 20k a year just doing that ... though takes experience to know what really is an underpriced car, and how far you can go with the overprice.

In my opinion gambling is not really "making money", I don't think would be a point to make a living out of it, I guess the point is stable money income, not from chance or luck hehe.

I think Investments and stock market can also be considered gambling unless you choose safe ones, which will only get you so much. To go to real stock market you really must know your stuff.

The best idea is often buy/sell like the fliping a house idea mentioned, or that on cars. I guess you could do cars a couple of years to raise some money to help start the house flipping? hehe

Oh the house taxes for sale are not that big, if you make a 20% profit on the flip, its far more than the taxes."

What would you sell your soul for

2 years 5 months ago

"Lol, that's the weirdest question I believe I have ever read on a forum hahaha

I can't even start answering that because I would like to ask you ... sell to who? it depends you know hehe. To the devil? never, what use is there for anything that would last a few years (or less) for the whole eternity in hell? save my beloved? how would my beloved feel if she knew I did something horrible as sell my soul to give her a few more years of peace or life? I know I would never allow my beloved to do such a thing, I would kill myself before to prevent such thing =p

And I don't think you can sell something you can't control (I was going to use the word "have" but it could have incorrect understandings). I don't think you can consciently decide the fate of your soul ... it's actually the other way around I think ;)"

What kind of ending do you hate the most?

2 years 5 months ago

"Well I haven't watched that many anime but I can answer this based on my movie/series (real life actors) experience. I think the worst endings are the ones where everything goes in a false perspective, for instance, "and they lived happily ever after" without any real good connection with the story. I also don't like when they keep getting not realistic with characters that never die, or things that work out "magically" just for the sake of a happy ending.

Not that I dislike happy endings, but there are movies that you see they are forcing a fake happy ending just because it's more popular that way. I like to see realism, and life does not have 90% happy endings, I would say it's a zero sum plot, thus, 50~50 would be ok.

I have read that directors do that because if it is a sad ending, people won't buy the DVD or rewatch the movie, but I think than it's a problem with the audience ... just because it's sad it does not mean it's bad, actually, most good movies I watched have sad endings exactly because it brings out the best of emotion (in the characters and in the audience) and also a whole new realistic feeling to it.

What's the point of the characters worring all the movie to get an unrealistic happy ending? "

Need some website suggestions~

2 years 5 months ago

"I have been browsing some anime sites latelly to get to know more about the subject - and here is an idea: why not follow their lead? They often have a gallery with images and sketches of the character, a page where they describe the character (personality, history, etc..), than often a gallery with wallpapers etc...

Some even have blogs to the cast or crew to comment, you could do that to keep a journal about what you do and updates on the site .. hmm if you want to use the character on something you could even do small comic strips (like those with 3~4 images only) with funny sequences to get people to know your character.

I think there are a lot of content for you to explore based on a character. I guess it could be a fun thing to do. If only I could draw :(

Good luck with your site ;)"

Why people says "Anime is for only children"?

2 years 5 months ago

"I'm new to anime (kind of 2 months now) and I always had that in mind too, but the subject has been already explored nicelly by the previous posters so I'll limit myself to say I agree it's just a misunderstanding between old school "more often aired" anime that really is aimed for children (or cartoons), and others. You will probably note that the ones more popular in open channels or normal PPV channels are indeed childish/child oriented ... from that, people take it all of them are (I guess people are too lazy to think lol)

But why does that matter? I think it's the loss of those who are close minded. I thought anime were somewhat for children but when my friends at college told me otherwise I believed them, had no reason not to, and than they borrowed me some and I noticed that indeed there are a lot of variety.

I think I'll see if they have some titles you mentioned here as been bloody and all the such just to see how anime can be at that department hehehe but I never stopped to really note this was such a big issue ... let people say whatever they say, they will never change their minds unless they see it for themselves, and I think if fanaticism start to get into the way (like forcing people to change the way they think, or forcing them to watch anime to "prove your point", they might get angry and start with worst labes such as "fanatics" hehe ... better leave people that are ignorant to the subject be, and focus on those who like it and want to experience it more =D)

That's what I think though."

[Anime Chat] Code Geass

2 years 5 months ago

"Of the 4 anime I watched, this is the latest (I borrow fansubs from a friend hehe). It was kind of a shock to know it was not complete. From what I now by browsing the last episodes will only air in July or something, really a shame.

The character art is from a group called CLAMP (sorry, I think it's popular but as I mentioned I'm quite new), does this group did more other animes besides this? I know they did Card Captor Sakura but that's all (and I did not watch it though it did air in my country, Brazil)"

How did you find this site? *AP*

2 years 5 months ago

"I am a student at a Publicity and Communication college here in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro) and one of my friends pointed me out to some sites that featured nice wallpapers, of them, I was hooked by this site because I was always curious about oriental artworks and manga. I am not really a fan of anime or the likes, only watched a few (all borrowed from my friend, the latest being Code Geass though he said it is not finished, I'll kill him for giving me unfinished stuff :( ), but I really like how people make wallpapers out of simple scans and artists are born. So in the end I decided to participate.

I'm trying to learn my way thru Photoshop (we use mostly Corel at college, they have a weird contract with them though I think Corel has it's limits when it comes to CG art as in wallpapers), so I will try to post my works here one day (so far, still learning, and studies get in the way too often)

Anyway, I bookmarked and registered the site for that. "

"Interesting sword, with a rose in the end, does it hurt? hehe. Though I admit it's quite interesting how the whole sword looks like a rose with all those thorns and stuff.

Which application do you use to create your works? it doesn't seam too Photoshopy art, more like CorelDraw? I ask because I know mostly Corel and I think it's hard to make backgrounds (wallpapers) with it.

Do you have other swords to show? I don't particularly like them but they are often a good basis to artwork, as you can tweek and twist them to show different aspects (like your sword have a flower theme)"
