Swords or Guns?

"Well from an "Art" perspective i'm a big fan of both. Dont take that to mean im naive in any category, i just appreciate the unique appeal both offer. The sleek, slender, design of a well forged sword, or the raw, untouched power that a gun presents. Both are amazing designs, and i think thats why Devil May Cry appeals to me so much, theres just something to be said about being able to blend the 2 together in such a satisfying way.Now truth be told in any real life situation in the modern world a gun COMPLETELY renders a sword useless, even in close combat. That is to say, there is no one with the science fictional skill requires to deflect bullets, and close in on their prey with inhuman speed. That being said, if we participated in a universe where such feats WERE possible (Star Wars for a quick example) then we see how quickly and thoroughly the tides are turned.
Swords have a special place in my heart, as they have been present in my gaming life since i was super young. Now putting that aside, Swords are STILL uber cool, i mean who would play a Final Fantasy solely centered around guns? (to be honest that seems almost like sacrilege). Swords are a necessary part of the gamer and anime fan cultures do to its pure coolness factor (which happens to be 15/10 folks).
Due to an over excess in a game i like to call Halo 2, guns ALSO hold a special place in my heart. Their precise design, and the skill in which the most delicate of maneuvers can be executed in online multi player helps you to realize the true art of a good gun fight. The speed in which you shoot, dodge, and find cover dont even compare to the mental planning it requires to execute most effective strategies. Gun fights are just as much games of skill and flare as a good sword fight.
To end this long, overblown comment, in which i ramble from the heart on such a "controversial" subject, id like to say, that i can't decide. All these words ive written were just me trying to decide which i feel is the better weapon. And personally, they are both amazing weapons, and rather then picking and choosing, we should just learn to appreciate both."

Long Distance Relationships

"Ive been in a LDR for a year and 2 months, my girlfriend has turned 18. And this summer she finally visited me,and stayed with me for 2 weeks. She is now my fiance and things are wonderful. It has NOT been easy at all, harder then a close relationship by far. Every problem you encounter is multiplied, trusting is harder, romance is harder, and it takes a lot of dedication to really FEEL that person is there with you. Since the beginning of our relationship i used Skype and online voice program to talk to her, and we talk everyday, all day. We both keep the mic on when we sleep, cuz it kinda seems like we are together when we do that, and the only time its ever really off is for school or work. We spend every second talking to each other, and that really helps making it feel real. There have been quite a few complications, and trust issues, as in every relationship, but we truly care for each other and work through them. My advice to anyone planning on going into a long distance relationship that they REALLY want to work, is to make sure you are BOTH dedicated. I dont mean kind of dedicated, like maybe we will see each other soon dedicated, i mean you guys have to plan everything about being together in the future and eventually set a date to finally meet. If you go through your long distance relationship without any intention of ever being together, then it is never going to be a REAL relationship. It takes work, dedication, and sacrifice from both of you. The complications involved might mean you have to give something up to be together, so you have to ask yourself, is that something you want? To everyone out there in a long distance relationship, i support you, and i wish you the best of luck. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk to someone else who is in one, and maybe someone who can give you some perspective on things. "Fable is damn beasty, but its length and amount of options compared to what they ORGINALLY said they were gonna be capable of was a disappointment. At first there was all kinds of stuff that could happen, and they planned it to be much more free roam like the elder scrolls series, but the actual technical issues turned up, and made the idea almost impossible. They stated that EVERYTHING you do in the game will influence your character, and while they succeeded in doing that to some degree, i wanted to see a much more invisible (no more +3 evil points) and overpowered engine used to decipher good and evil. If i kill everyone in a town, of COURSE im evil, think of a better way to judge that, so even players who try to walk the middle wind up getting whisked away into a unique personality they never knew they had. This is all stuff i hope to see included in Fable 2, which i am very much looking forward to, and it was an amazing game, so i have high hopes for the sequel. Also, i suggest people try out Mass Effect when it comes out, if you liked KOTOR and Fable, Mass Effect should be a nice addition to your collection."View

"Youve got me a little confused. You mean if you switched L and Kira's characters? So Light was L (for the purpose of this comment we shall be naming it "The Job L" and the old L was Kira? That would make for an interesting change, but knowing L's personality i think that he would be a much much different Kira. One who is much less manipulative and much more benevolent. Which makes the point, why would one who owns a notebook of death, who had a benevolent heart use it? Maybe L had similar views to Yagami in that he wanted to give just punishment to those deserving, but unlike Yagami, he didn't turn corrupt and wicked from his power. Now from Yagami's side, if he was The Job L, he would probably hunt for Kira in a different way. Would Yagami, a cocky, self rightous person seek the compainship of others in his pursuit? If he tried to find Kira alone, would he succeed? Yagami failed to outsmart L or Near, both were always a step ahead of him. The only reason that L died was due to his attempts at friendship, and aquiescence to the will of the group, that Yagami was innocent. So it could be assumed that since there was no group, and that Yagami wouldnt seek a friendship with L, that Kira would and could be caught much earlier. Anyways, im sorry for rambling, i was confused, and you got me thinkin."View
Vista Vs. XP

"Windows XP was a near perfect operating system, which sets a high standard for the sequal to follow. Problem is, it appears as if Vista didnt even try. Sure they prettied it up a little, but where is the fabled "reinvention" they promised? Vista requires you have a godly computer (at least 2 gigs of RAM) because it uses temporary memory for relatively useless processes. You pretty much are required to have a dual core, and without one playing games on a Vista equipted comp is damn near impossible. I personally think that if i had the option when buying a new computer to get Vista or XP, that i would request a "downgrade" to XP. At least then i could get the most out of my hardware, rather then having Vista gimp my computer for a few visual flares. Thats my own personal opinion from having worked with a Vista Laptop and a XP desktop."View

"FF8 was my first final fantasy, and therefor im biased, and id have to say its definatly one of my favorites. im personally a very very big fan of both 8 and 9, while i could never get into the "fabled" 7. I prefer 9 to 8 because of its nonlinear digressions from the storyline, in which there were quite a few interesting minigames and such. 8 had my alltime favorite storyline, i loved the universary setting and such. Anyways it has a place in my heart. Congratz on creating a thread based on it. Kudos."View

"I advise you to pick up the 360, it offers almost the same hardware specs, for 200$ less. It has much MUCH more titles to offer, and has a larger online fanbase. Given online costs a bit, its only like 4$ a month. PS3 is slowly but surely losing its "exclusive" games to the 360. Quite a few games that were supposed to be PS3 only have decided it would make a 360 version as well. I.E (Assassins Creed, Resident Evil 5, etc). I personally own a 360, and will vouche that its a solid system, with numerous games from all different genres. I have played a PS3, and it has no flaws to speak of, except its price point, and lack of titles. So its really up to you, pretty soon the PS3 will get more games, but ill still support 360 till the end."View

"I am a gamer (albeit a poor gamer) so i dont have much merchandise. BUT, i have once spent more then 72 consecutive hours on a video game without sleeping or moving more then 4 feet. Also when i finally lost Xbox Live i had amassed a total of over 1000 hours on Halo 2, and 200+ hours on splinter cell. My Current thing is WoW (World Of Warcraft) My Main character is a lvl 70 Rogue who my addon says ive spent over 54 days working on (thats over 1000 hours people). Ive downloaded every episode of Fate/Stay Night, Naruto, and Death Note to an external Hard drive loaded with Jrock. Im up there people, even if i cant afford the merchandise. Oh and Depth Charge i LOVE your room, tell me, how did you get the wall prints? Ive been considering going to kinkos or some other printing company and handing them a flash drive loaded with backgrounds and such. How much do you think that many color prints would cost?"View

"I shall explain all in due time.....Older games were harder back in "the day" because games were shorter and the lack of content meant the game had to last longer for different reasons. They made very VERY simple games innately hard just to prolong the span the game lasts for. This is all well and good, but it doesn't mean that the quality of the game is any better.
Games nowadays are long, sometimes TOO long, and catered to a larger audience, this allows for over simplicity while the hard core gamers like myself are left beating games in a few hours. This is a flaw in itself as well. This is not the case for ALL games, merely the majority of them. Look at Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry 3. Games are not ALL becoming easy, look for the good ones."

"I live in America, more specifically Ohio. Life is boring, schools are bad, and jobs are scarce. I do NOT live on a farm, as opposed to the popular belief about my state, i actually live in Columbus, the 8th largest city in the country, and personally, its just as boring. We have "air quality alerts" more and more frequently, one of which we had today. The government here is not "crooked" but it IS stupid, but really i don't blame the system, i think 50% of my countries population lacks enough intelligence to own a dog, none the less run a country. The "2 Part System" that are country partakes in is a joke, considering once people get into the Senate or Congress they all mix and match views anyway. The president is of below average intelligence, very similar to that of a very excited ground squirrel. We are in a pointless war, spending money that we COULD be using to reform are economy into a producing nation rather then a using nation. Im tired of everything i buy being "Made In China" or "Made in Taiwan" im really hoping i see more "Made in the US". We are practicing a tried and failed military strategy of war that we used in Vietnam oh so many years ago. And Americans all around the country are responding when asked "Why are we in Iraq?" with "Because they bombed our towers" When in realization it was a country called AFGHANISTAN who did that, a war we won in 2 months because of the extensive backing of the United Nations. My country is stupid, but so is everybodies, hardly any government is on the right track nowadays, so ill go as far as to say im proud to be an American, its where i was born, there are good people here."View
Horde Vs. Alliance (and WoW in general)

"Its often been debated by those who play, watch, or remotely participate in World of Warcraft, what IS the better faction?You have the alliance in all their majestic splendor, Stormwind the city of epic proportions, NE's, Humans, etc.
Youve got the horde with its relentless fury, its strength, and its brute ability. Epic instruments of war, and the better racial abilities.
Given with the introduction of the Blood Elves and the Draenei (and the pallys going to horde, and the shamans going to the alliance along with it) there are more factors to consider. First off the actual DIFFERENCES between the 2 factions are almost purely cosmetic at this point. And on a cosmetic view the horde now finally has a "pretty" race, the blood elves.
Anyway share your opinions on this great controversy.
Also there is news of a coming expansion, where even more content will be added to the game, feel free to drop your "facts" about that into the fray.
I have a lvl 70 Rogue and a lvl 70 Warrior both horde, as well as a few mid lvl alts. Both are on the Area 52 server. Feel free to share your characters with me as well.
