"If you just want to make your monitors display color the same, then there are plenty of color calibration programs out there that will help you do so.

If you're actually wanting to make sure it reproduces color in the most accurate way possible, on the other hand... well, you'll probably have to get new monitors, as I'm pretty sure both of your LCDs are TN displays, which just doesn't have the color accuracy of PVA and IPS panels (their advantage is their response time and lower cost)."

Your favorite console, and why.

"Out of the current generation systems, my belief is that if you are only going to own one, and it will be the only platform you play games on, then the X360 is the best choice.

If you also have a decent to good PC and play games on that as well, then the PS3 + PC combination is better than X360 + PC, because there's quite a bit less overlap between the two.

As an only console in a household, the Wii doesn't cut it for most "non-casual" gamers unless they're hardcore Ninteno-only fans. But there are still a lot of very good games, and it's definitely worth owning in addition to the others."

"It's not on the level of most of the "hardcore" 2D fighters from Capcom/SNK/Arc Systems/etc, but I do enjoy it (once I got a decent pad/stick to use on PC, at any rate). By the time it reached MBAC, the series actually feels like a polished fighter now. Definitely looking forward to Actress Again."

"Fiber optic connections of 1Gbps are available (or will soon be available) in Japan, and likely South Korea as well. Here in the US, Verizon also offers fiber optic connections (FiOS) in select areas, but I think 50Mbps is the maximum."

"Internet connection speeds are measured in Kbps or Mbps - that is, Kilo bits or Mega bits per second. Download speeds as reported by your browser/download management software/BitTorrent client/etc, on the other hand, are measured in KB/s or MB/s - Kilo bytes or Mega bytes per second. 1 byte is equal to 8 bits, so to get the theoretical maximum download speed you can reach on any given DSL connection, you would have to divide the number by 8. A 1Mbps DSL connection will thus give a maximum of 128KB/s, which over the course of 24 hours will yield a maximum of 11059200KB, or 1.05GB. So yes, it's theoretically possible to download a 1GB torrent in a day, but in practice it will never happen due to overhead (not to mention you would have to do nothing else that uses the internet connection at all for the entire duration).

And there is no 384Mbps DSL. DSL technology currently maxes out at 10MBps in the US (AT&T offers it, not sure if Verizon does), and even that is very limited in availability (there are requirements with regard to distance to local switch station and line quality for DSL speeds)."

Opinions on old favorite games changed?

"Games which were good based on technical merit (visuals especially) just don't hold up as well as games which were enjoyable due to great gameplay or a compelling story.

It doesn't matter how many times I play it on how many different platforms, a game like Super Mario Bros. 3 or Chrono Trigger will always be a blast to play through. On the other hand, most of the PSX/N64 era 3D games where the 3D visuals were the main, or only, innovation, start to feel dated almost immediately. There are notable exceptions, but they're rare.

Oh, and StarCraft is still the best single-player RTS experience on PC."

"I have no idea where you're getting the AMD pays off in the long run argument. Intel processors are competitive, if not outright superior, in performance at nearly every price point, and in power consumption as well. With Barcelona being pretty much a let down, the only way AMD has been able to compete with Intel since the C2D days has been through pricing. There's just no getting around that right now Intel's processors are the better choice - I've owned several AMD systems during the previous few years, and many Intel systems prior to that, and to outright dismiss one or the other is just foolhardy.

And multi-core being gimmicky because there aren't many applications which support it is only true if you run only one or two programs at once. Anyone who does a decent amount of multi-tasking will definitely see the benefit, even if it takes a bit of work in setting processor affinities. And video encoding is one thing where multi-core definitely shines."

"I would never want to say never, but I would be very surprised, and likely disappointed, if there was a 3rd season. There just does not seem to be any way they can do it without devaluing the events of the first 2, unless it was a light-hearted spinoff (in the vein of FMP Fumoffu). And as much as I'd love to see more of Kallen, Nunnally, and Orange jokes (one of my favorite moments from R2 was actually when Jeremiah's incoming call showed up as "Orange" on Lelouch's screen), I don't think it'd work nearly as well, as CG didn't have nearly as much focus on the comedy, even in the first season (and in R2 there was just about none)."

"Not really. While I'd like a great ending, I find them to be exceeding rare, and I tend to view having a good ending as a bonus instead of seeing a non-great ending as a negative. If the characters and story from the first 12/23/25/51/whatever episodes were appealing and enjoyable, an ending that isn't completely satisfactory wouldn't really affect my view of the series as a whole."

"I fully expect an OVA, either of completely new content (likely the events following R2), or a special with extended footage to flesh out the story (a la Gundam SEED specials). It's well known that Taniguchi wasn't able to tell the story in R2 the way he had planned to, and the ending does reflect the haste in which everything needed to be wrapped up (though all things considered, it ended very well)."

Are old games harder than younger ones?oO

"That the older games are harder is really not much of a point of debate - between the save structure (or lack thereof) and emphasis on memorization of game events, I think most people who've played the old games will agree that it's harder.

The issue, however, is whether that difficulty made for a better game experience. I have no problem with difficult games, but I do not believe that making games uniformly more difficult would be a good design decision for modern games. More games are being made than ever before, and I know that I'm not the only one who simply doesn't have the time to devote hours to practice the repetition of a level for every game.

A challenging game once in a while is fine. I enjoyed Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi, probably two of the most difficult games from recent times. But I absolutely would not want every game to be like that."

I was made aware of the existence of this movie a while back, and I finally got around to watching it. And as soon as I saw the scene of Takaki and Akari at the tree in 1080P, I knew I had to have a wallpaper of it. Or two - one of the "flashback" to the tree in spring, and another of the "current" in winter.

Now, the main part of the wallpaper is nothing more than the screencap adjusted for resolution, so that's fine. But the font for the text I'm not completely satisfied with. Going into it, my idea was for the two scenes to represent the ideals of "beauty" and "passion" - ideally I would've preferred the spring one to be passion, but the poses of the characters pretty much made it so the reverse is the only way to go. But that's okay, as the scenes are both so beautiful that it still works. However, I'm having real trouble getting the text to convey that. The text for 桜 seems to be OK after I added the drop shadow, but I just can't feel completely comfortable with the text for 雪. I'm just not sure what type of font could really communicate the passion ideal, especially for Kanji (though the English script font isn't great either).

If anyone have any comments or suggestions (not necessarily related to just the text issue, it would be much appreciated."

"Chrono Cross really isn't that bad, aside from the fact that the vast majority of the characters get next to no development and should've just been cut. Doesn't come close to CT, of course, but still a good game. And the music in CC is just sublime."

"I enjoy both, but I'm a lot more likely to play PC and handheld games simply due to their nature of much easier to multi-task. I can sit at my desk and play, and switch to doing something else immediately (e-mail, IM, checking some information) if I'm playing a PC or DS game, but it's much harder to do if I'm playing something on the PS3 out in the living room."

"At this point, Intel CPUs are better choices pretty much universally across the board. However, the real decision isn't really so much Intel Quad-Core vs AMD Quad-Core, as it is Intel Dual-Core vs Intel Quad-Core. The "sweet spot" for Intel processors are the E8400, Q6600, and Q9300 these days, and for most people, the E8400 is a better performing part, as applications that truly take advantage of 4 cores are still exceedingly rare."
