I hope it's something like photoshop, and I hope you kept your layers. You just need to shrink the height of the background...I'm saying that I hope you kept your layers, because you could easily remove lucy from the wall, shrink the height, and put her back in.

The character...looks like the smart blur layer is a tad too heavy...if you didn't merge your layers, put the original character layer over top at half opacity or something? It's a little blinding...

And I don't think there's anything wrong with imitating somebody's personal style, as long as you don't directly copy elements...

Hmm...get rid of the silhouettes in the bg. they do nothing but distract.

Refer to this wall. See how she mixes simple patterns with style? You could try and go for a similar feel...if you break down gideon's wall, it's really a complex feel with a very simply constructed wall...stripes, that's all...

...meaning get rid of the ghost images, and make/organize some more of those sunburst stripes. make multiple layers of sunburst stripes. Make multiple layers of pleinair 0.o

and n00bish colour? hmm...probably tune down the overlay blend modes...you don't have to limit yourself to the blend modes they tell you.
