This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Need suggestion on my first vector wallpaper

1 year 6 months ago

"Before I start I have to say that for your first vector it's great.

There are some parts that needs improvement:
The vector looks a bit blurry as if you duplicated the layer and ran gaussian blur over it. Remove the blur, it will look better that way.
At the same time the line art is a bit jaggy. To fix that you need to export the vector in Inkscape at a higher resolution than 1600x1200 (e.g. I always use 2400x1800) and then resize it to 1600x1200 with a high quality filter (Lanczos, Bicubic or whatever it's called in PS -- you're using PS, are you not?).
I think you should add the white for the eyes -- you know, the stuff around the iris, the sclera.
Shinji is smiling to much for my taste, but may be just me ...

That's all I can think of to improve the wallpaper at the moment. And that are all only minor things, so good job :)"

Clearing up some Confusion

2 years 3 months ago

"
Kalico
... if that’s really all you can accomplish in photoshop at this point, then you should be posting your wallpapers in session zero ...

On a side note (OT and not really that important):
You know, Photoshop is not the only program to make good wallpapers. I don't know if my wallpapers can be considered "good" wallpapers (well, they got accepted), but I'm using Inkscape and/or GIMP (both open source). I just noticed that most of the members here say Photoshop instead of image editing program (or something like that)."

Gallery->Wallpaper->REC: Thumbnail broken

"Uh oh, now I noticed the same problem that has been in the REC-gallery in the Yotsubato-gallery. The top left entry has a broken thumbnail:

max size of wallpaper @ 1600x1200

2 years 3 months ago

"I don't know why, but jpeg's saved by Photoshop tend to be rather large (at least that was my experience when I still used it - now I'm using GIMP). Try saving the picture as a bmp and then open it with IrfanView ( http://www.irfanview.com/) and save it as a jpeg (remove stuff like "Keep original EXIF/IPTC data").
If that doesn't work, please let me take a look at the image."

Gallery->Wallpaper->REC: Thumbnail broken

"No, it doesn't work. I already tried different browsers and I'm not blocking port 8080.
It's strange, but I can see the thumbnail on my userpage. I noticed that the thumbnail on my userpage and the broken thumbnail in the REC-gallery have different URL's:

The thumbnail on my userpage (works):
http://www.animepaper.net:8080/upload/thumbs/wallpapers/REC/%5Bsmall%5D%5BAnimePaper%5Dwallpapers_REC_IceHand_-edit7.jpg

The thumbnail in the REC-gallery (doesn't work):

"The thumbnail of my wallpaper "Onda Aka remixed" seems to be broken. When I go to the REC-gallery it looks like this:

User posted image

There is supposed to be my wallpaper in the upper left corner, in fact you can see the link (which is kind of messed up together with umboody's wallpaper-title), but no thumbnail. The link of the thumbnail (http://www.animepaper.net:8080/upload/thumbs/wallpapers/REC/%5Bsmall%5D%5BAnimePaper%5Dwallpapers_REC_IceHand_23740.jpg) leads to an 404-error-message."
