Trick or Treat by °chanelqueen17 1 month 2 weeks ago

^nat
After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

A question for all virgins over twenty

6 months 4 weeks ago

"Wow... the first post is a copy-paste from Gaia. Or the other way around...

I was a virgin past twenty, and on the occasions that it got out, it was a good laugh for the whole crowd at my expense. I suppose as a male, I was expected to run out and "sow my wild oats" but I never once considered just hopping into bead with just any 'ole person, regardless of attractiveness. Maybe I'm just weird like that."

Do you think long distance relationships can work?

11 months 4 days ago

"I've been in just about the longest distance relationship possible, and I'm telling you it can work. I'm American and my fiancee is Australian. The time difference is 16 hours (not far from exactly halfway around the world) and the trip to get to Australia (by plane) was 30 hours.

Thing with an international relationship is that you have to care enough for your partner to wait the several months it may take for governments to allow you to be together, and then you may only get a few months at a time until you decide to marry. I find most people too focused on activities and the physical connection they can manage with their partners, and when separated they have very little to talk about after a week or two, but two people with a genuine connection can continue to grow closer even when their only link is snail mail. I think, basically, it takes the right kind of love, and more trust then most people are willing to give even to someone who is supposed to be the closest and most trusted person to them (sadly).

I say, if you're going to love someone, find the right one and don't let minor difficulties (like boarders) stand in your way."

Do you cry alone in the street?

"Shijirou, I won't pretend to know the circumstances, but if you decided to leave her because of her family, or because you thought it would be best for her, then you might be making a mistake. On the other hand, if she left you I really don't have advice...

Either way, don't get down for too long man. No matter how thing go, things'll get better eventually."

where are the heroes

1 year 3 months ago

"You want a real hero? I think I stumbled across one today...
His name is Paulin Ngobobo.
In 2006 he stood against a charcoal mafia in the DRC that would have destroyed the southern part of what is arguably the greatest national park in the world within 10 years, taking more than half of the worlds mountain gorilla population with it. While he was eventually forced out of his position he brought things to the world spotlight.
Now one of the major traffickers (Honore Mashagiro) it awaiting trial. I can't seem to find any news of a verdict, so it would seem that the trial hasn't come to a close yet.
He has had three attempts on his life, but fortunately has survived without any major harm.
This man accomplished as much as any single person could hope to when standing against corrupt people in one of the most corrupt societies in the world.

he's not in any position to help your community, but I figured since I had found one, I should prove that, while rare, they do exist."

That's how the series ended? Did I miss something?

1 year 3 months ago

"Well, one of my favorite manga, Warriors of Tao, intentionally ends without even getting started on concluding one of the major plot devices.when I got to the end I was still expecting ten more books or maybe another series to finish the story (the author mentioned the possibility of such a series in the future though, so I'm hopeful), but regardless of my expectations, it ends before things get started. quite the buzz-kill"

Shamelessly ecchi mangas...

1 year 3 months ago

"Ehh... Dears is an ecchi-fest but I still decided it was worth owning. It kind of reminded me of alien nation... anyway, I can't necessarily say that they have as much value as deeper manga, but they still have their place and they're still enjoyable to read. The key is knowing what you're getting before you buy it. It shouldn't be too hard to tell the difference between something overly ecchi and something more thought-provoking. so, if you're looking for one or the other, then I would say do your research and you won't have any troubles."

Neji vs Sasuke

1 year 3 months ago

"Personally, I would love to see Sauske destroyed with 128 palms, but that's just me.

Back in chunnen exam days, my money's on Neji to beat Sauske senseless, but if we're talking about shippunden, then I think Neji just hasn't advanced at the same rate Sauske has. I would have to bet on Sauske to win now. Here's hoping that Neji eventually comes up with some new stuff so he can give Sauske a run for his money."

Prince of Persia

"Ohhh, it was one of my favorite games, alright. Right up there with Devil may dry and god of war. The third one, especially, is a masterpiece. I liked some parts of the second one, but the music didn't fit as well as it did in the other two. Godsmack "I stand alone" felt out of place as chase music...

Anyway, loved them all, but the third one is best by far. I love the commentary and sarcasm of the dark prince almost as much as I like playing as him. PoP FTW!"

Anime & Science

"At this point and time, mech suits are just too complicated to build and maintain. I wouldn't be surprised if the beginnings of one are in a lab somewhere, but there's no way the technology is cost-efficient. And it'll be a long time before mech suits replace armored vehicles on the battlefield. I won't say they're entirely impossible, but it'll be a long time before they're agile or armored enough to be a worthwhile combat implement.

as for EVA... a creature of that size couldn't support it's own weight on earth. It's leg bones, no matter what they're made of, would snap trying to stand up (crushing the rest of the bones in the following fall). So either we take all our EVAs to a low gravity environment, or they're completely impossible. One day, something like that might be handy in space combat, but I can think of all kinds of weaknesses and limitations for a creature like that. If it doesn't breathe, then the whole body has energy shortage issues and gets tired extremely quickly, if it breathes, then getting it enough air while active sounds like a major challenge. if it eats, then that's a whole new set of problems. if you keep them in space, how do you fight muscle atrophy? the list is endless and the whole thing just sounds impractical."

Looks or personality?

1 year 3 months ago

"That's a hard question to answer because, lets face it, we all want both ... I know personality is most important to me, so given an ultimatum I would have to go for that but if they're really just that incredibly ugly it may cause problems.
I don't require a supermodel (in fact most supermodels look too unhealthy to catch my eye) but for me to get anywhere in bed she just has to reach a certain level of attractiveness in my eyes for me to really, really go for it. On the other hand, there also has to be the right personality to even get a rise out of me (pun intended). So, it really comes down to both for me, but I hold that my priority is personality.
I realize I may have been vague about what kind of personality I like... that's intentional...>:3 emoticon
Suffice it to say that I'm looking for someone who gets me."

Do you cry alone in the street?

1 year 3 months ago

"I've never done it, but a few months ago I was kept up until 4 AM buy some girl scream-crying near my parents house while I was staying there. Personally, I think it's one thing to need to go outside and get away from things so you can bawl your eyes out, it's quite another to go outside in the middle of the night in a residential area and practically scream at the top of your lungs for three hours when there's no danger to life and limb. In retrospect, I'm surprised no one called the cops, but if it happens again while I'm there you can bet someone will."

Manga Characters^^

1 year 3 months ago

"Hmm... I tend to attach to both strong and quirky warrior-type characters. I like characters who have believable human faults, and a desire to better themselves for a reason I can identify with; usually either to protect someone/something or to stand up for a belief. Also, anyone with the strength of will to carry on when they really don't know if they can win or even survive wins a special place in my heart.

Roy Mustang and Edward Elric of FMA, Recca Hanabishi of Flame of Recca, Jiraiya and Kakashi Hatake of Naruto (Naruto himself would make my list if he wasn't so aggravatingly stupid) , Dante of Devil May Cry, and Toya Suguri of Warriors of TAO are some examples."

Kakashi's mask

1 year 3 months ago

"There's no real reason for the mask other then his own personal preference. In fact, many times they've alluded to the fact that he's quite handsome under the mask.

The other reason is quite obviously to make people wonder just what we are wondering. A simple quirk like wearing a mask all the time helps to make a character more mysterious and interesting, and generates discussion about them."

Are old games harder than younger ones?oO

1 year 3 months ago

"HaHa, I beat battletoads. But only once after me and my friend tried for about a year. Same with ninja turtles.

anyway, most games nowadays are easier, but they have come up with a few for hard-core gamers that might just be harder. Ninja gaiden is almost ridiculous it's so hard... games like Devil may Cry have a good mix of easy playability on easier modes and truly challenging gameplay on the hardest settings.

Other new games that hold some challenge like Gran Tourismo are challenging because of their realism: something older arcade games just couldn't provide.

That said, nothing quite matches the difficulty of the oldies. Only a rare person ever gets to the end of donky-kong. Arcade games are quite unforgiving and require almost perfect timing and execution of button patterns in order to advance. unfortunately, in order to make video games more mainstream, they've had to make them a bit easier to complete while finding new ways to keep them interesting and rewarding."

where are the heroes

1 year 3 months ago

"Really? Where I'm from it's legal to use deadly force to protect your own home (aka, you can shoot at someone breaking in).

Anyway, the reason for the lack of heroes is fairly simple. Heroes put themselves in harms way to protect something or someone. They stand out, and they die first. There are many good people who want to help others, but most aren't so resolute that they are willing to risk harm and even persecution by a corrupt system in order to do what's right. So what happens to the few steadfast heroic people is that they are forced to try and stand alone, essentially killing them faster. Heroes exist, but they don't last long."

What do you think Naruto can do to surpass Sasuke

1 year 3 months ago

"In order to get anywhere Naruto has to pull his head out of his butt. He's far too oblivious of his surroundings and lacks anything resembling tact. If he where to develop a little reasoning ability he would be much more effective, as it is it's just too easy to walk him into a trap. If it weren't for the Kyuubis overwhelming power, I could count off an endless stream of times when he should have died due to his thick skull.

If he's ever going to have a glimmer of a chance of surpassing Sauske without using the Kyuubi, he's going to have to learn to notice the world around himself and think, just a little, about what's happening.

That said, I believe that Naruto has the raw power and the potential to exceed Sauske once he grinds out a few new skills and learns to use his head to maximize the effectiveness of the skills he has at his disposal.

Oh, and for the love of god, learn to get a razengan going with one hand already. He's been training with it for three years and even realized it's full ungodly destructive potential, but he still hasn't mastered the use of it's basic form. Just that small improvement alone would give him a technique superior in almost every way to Sauskes chidori. Shorter prep time, more destruction. As it is he has to divide his remaining energy every single time he wants to use razengan, and he has to carefully move in tandem with a clone while it's formed. By doing that he loses time, he loses a lot of energy, and he loses maneuverability.

I've noticed several people saying that Naruto needs to learn a way out of genjutsu to fight Sauske. I agree that he definitely needs to get something going in that area, but the fact is that I'm not sure he's smart enough to get very far with that. That aside, even if by a miracle Naruto turns out to advance far into the world of genjutsu, the Mangekyo Sharingan is just too fast to be broken. Most genjutsu is broken a couple seconds into the jutsu once the target realizes what's happening, but when the entire genjutsu takes a fraction of a second, the body simply can't react before it's over. so against an opponent who possesses such an ability, learning to break genjutsu is utterly pointless."

"It's occurred to me that my last post barely touched on the actual topic before I began rambling off about my parental peeves. Just to clarify on that: My intention was not to throw all parents into the same box in the last post, but to simply complain about a small percentage of parents that, in my opinion, are failing to teach their children the skills any human needs to adjust to the world in a healthy way.

While It's obvious that there is a truly different attitude in children regarding material possessions and media-crafted perspectives on beauty, I can't deny that things are rarely as bad as people make them out to be. The next generation won't be the downfall of mankind because as kids they feel the need to be glued to their cell phones, or because the styles have changed (though I still am of the opinion that no one under 14 really needs to be wearing thong underwear or anything else of a potentially "seductive" nature {if you really call dental floss in a girls butt crack seductive}).

Times will change, and attitudes along with them. I hope never to be the next loop in a cycle of fear that places all of societies problems on a new technology or fad, but I know the day will come when something radically new comes out, revolutionizes the way the world works, and suddenly is pinned as the source of violence in children because a disturbed little bastard made some use of it before committing some atrocity. I'm sure most of us remember the day television stopped being considered the leading cause of adolescent violence. It was the same day that computer games took it's place. For those of you that don't follow, the columbine shooting investigation led the media to latch onto the game DOOM as twisting the shooters to it's demonic will. The facts are a little different. In reality, violence in schools has been falling for years and it's the acts of a few individuals and the subsequent media coverage that has made it appear the the coming generations are going to be nothing but hardened killing machines. Unfortunately, a side effect of the massive media coverage of such events does nothing but encourage equally disturbed people to follow the example as a way of getting attention and making names for themselves.

My overall point is that we're all so worried about the future and how it must be going downhill because it won't be the same way you remember things being, but the fact is that the world will keep turning and people will find a way to cope. Your children will grow up and find themselves pondering the same things we are today, and hopefully, they (like me) will come to the conclusion that there isn't really anything to fear."

"I think part of it might be the new parental attitude seen in the last 20 or so years. parents are afraid to truly punish their kids. You can't spank a child, that's abuse... apparently. So instead you send little Timmy to a time-out in his room where his TV and toys are and tell him to think about what he's done. You rarely see parents actually telling their kids what to do, or how to behave anymore. Instead mommy bargains and pleads with little Johnny to behave while they're at the store, so the more Johnny misbehaves normally, the more incentive he gives mommy to try and appease him to be good.
So, to start with, they grow up with no sense of discipline or any limits on behavior.

I think another factor is a waning interest in many parents in actually teaching their children anything about life firsthand...

I would continue, but I have to go now... HeHe=( ) emoticon"

People who are bisexual.

1 year 3 months ago

"Hmmm, in my experience bisexual people may actually be more disliked than gay people.

Since they have gay tendencies, they're still disliked by the people who condemn homosexuals, but I know of several people who have nothing against homosexuals that dislike the bi's. It seems that they think of bisexuals as either being simply confused about what they really want, or in a way sexually greedy.

I have never cared to make judgments on people based on their sexual preferences (lord knows there would plenty of space for retaliation should I one day make the mistake of doing so), but in talking to people on the subject, these seem to be fairly common ways of viewing bisexual people. My little personal motto on the subject is "As long as you're not hurting other people (without consent HeHee), then go have fun.""

Cheating

1 year 3 months ago

"Well, it's my opinion that it's how you act that truly determines cheating. My mind briefly entertains many, many thoughts; most of which I never have even the slightest intention of acting on. Is it really cheating if I briefly imagine someone in the buff? I should think not...

Lots of people have urges, and even people in a committed relationship can feel lust toward someone other than their partner, but it's what they choose to act on that really has the final say. In my mind, at least, cheating starts at flirting. Once you're trying to arouse and sexually tease someone other than your partner, you're starting to cheat.

As a side note, if you're giving serious consideration to cheating, then you need to reexamine your relationship. If you would honestly risk it for a one night stand, then you probably should just end the relationship and stop wasting your partners time."

Who plays Guild Wars!?

1 year 8 months ago

"Lol... just for the record, if your best character was level 18, you didn't play a lot... you can't even get halfway into any of the games and not have reached level 20... but sorry to hear about your hard drive.

At this point, if you haven't been playing, you may as well wait for GW2... but if you've finished a couple of the games, the expansion seems like something to invest in.

I've overhauled my henchmen... and I'd be happy to share the concept of necro-healers to anyone who's interested. Turning Master of Whispers and Olias into necro-healers makes even the hardest areas of the game seem like a breeze.

I dare say I, too, will be addicted to this game for a while to come...

BTW... does anyone else feel gypped that there isn't an acolyte of Abbadon somewhere in realm of torment?? You'd think that there would be a margonite reaper somewhere so you could capture the avatar of Abbadon... Oh, well... Here's hoping it pops up in GW2"
