Who plays Guild Wars!?
4 months 1 week ago
"Lol... just for the record, if your best character was level 18, you didn't play a lot... you can't even get halfway into any of the games and not have reached level 20... but sorry to hear about your hard drive.
At this point, if you haven't been playing, you may as well wait for GW2... but if you've finished a couple of the games, the expansion seems like something to invest in.
I've overhauled my henchmen... and I'd be happy to share the concept of necro-healers to anyone who's interested. Turning Master of Whispers and Olias into necro-healers makes even the hardest areas of the game seem like a breeze.
I dare say I, too, will be addicted to this game for a while to come...
BTW... does anyone else feel gypped that there isn't an acolyte of Abbadon somewhere in realm of torment?? You'd think that there would be a margonite reaper somewhere so you could capture the avatar of Abbadon... Oh, well... Here's hoping it pops up in GW2" View
Who plays Guild Wars!?

"Of course, I don't want this to be a simple poll thread...
So, those of you who play guild wars, give us some useful information.
I want to see names of your most commonly played characters so we can say hi if we bump into each other.
I want to hear about your favorite builds.
I want to discuss tactics for defeating missions and the like.
I wish there was an event going on right now so I could jump to talking about that... oh well...
I'll start with my own introduction and we can go from there...
My best character thus far is a Dervish/Necromancer called "The Iron Lynx" (What else?)
Recently, I've been working on an Assassin/Warrior "Garrotter Yashamaru" (If you think the name is familiar then you've watched/read Basilisk)
Most recently, I've been looking for a better skill set for my warrior henchmen Koss, Is anyone out there veteran enough to suggest something I haven't thought of?" View
Is a Zanpacto alive?
4 months 4 weeks ago
"Actually, it's just moderately more pathetic to actually know where zanpacto come from. Seeing as the only way to know is to have read a couple lines in a manga and inferred they're vague meaning.
I call it more pathetic because knowing it means you have either spent way too much time searching for answers to questions regarding a fictional item (something I spend a lot of time doing), or that you have dedicated a large portion of you life to reading what is essentially a series of comic books (I readily admit to having a bookshelf full of manga). Either way, it's kind of sad when you look at it from the big picture of someones life. " View

"I liked the underlying, basic storyline.
I loved the battle system, though I think more points should be allowed for battle skills so that it's possible to have something in every slot.
I wasn't a big fan of the minute details like the overly generic lines that most of the characters spewed forth like so much water.
And, last but not least, I liked the main characters (though roger and peppita can just die for all I care. thankfully, I don't have to have them.) Albel, while unusually feminine in appearance, was still my favorite character.
I'm loving the extra battle skills found in the extra sphere levels...
If you hadn't noticed, this is written in horrible form, but it's just a collection of my thoughts on the subject of this game. It was definitely my favorite battle system until Kingdom Hearts hit my console." View

Swords or Guns?

Sword requires more skill. Swords can block bullets (if you're skilled and quick enough), but guns can't block swords.
Actually, it's the other way around. Aside from the fact that most swords couldn't hold up to the force of a single shot, no one is fast enough to smack a bullet out of the way with one. The best you could do is turn the flat of the blade toward the gunman and hope it's in the right spot.
On the other hand, (most) guns are made of sturdy metal and can be used to stop a blade if handled with a little skill and precision. However after too much abuse of that manner, a gun may very well lose the structural fortitude to be fired safely or even fired at all." View
Swords or Guns?
10 months 9 hours ago
"Guns are far more effective killing tools until you become involved in CQB, but without bullets they are useless. Therefore, the gun user must carry around plenty of heavy metal ammunition. Plus, having moving moving parts makes guns more susceptible to malfunction and utter breakdown.
A sword, on the other hand, is capable of overcoming a gun at close quarters with a little skill on the swordsman's part. The trick is simply getting the gun user in that close. There is no need for ammunition with a sword; simply sharpen your blade, and swing to your hearts content. Even if the blade chips and dulls, it still serves as a handy club. Being such a simple device, swords are sturdy and can operate without continual maintenance.
I prefer swords over guns, myself. Although the advantages of guns are obvious, they are not by any means prefect weapons. I don't claim that swords are perfect weapons either, without plenty of cover and careful action by it's holder, a sword has little chance of overcoming a gun. I simply prefer them." View

I keep my computer at a right-handed setup most of the time, but if somebody switches it to clean or something or I go to someones house with things setup for a lefty, I make no effort to change things around. I use right-handed mice with my left hand all the time. sure, it's partially because of laziness, but it's also because it's no effort to get used to the switch for me.

Kicked out of the classroom

"HaHa, I spent most of elementary school either in the hallway, the principals office, or in "In School Suspension". I guess I was a troublemaker, but I wasn't disruptive most of the time. I just refused to take part in pointless homework. Busywork like crossword puzzles and all that crap was not my idea of a fun way to spend the evening, so I just didn't do it. English homework bored the crap out of me, Math homework seemed repetitive and pointless (and still does, mind you), spelling was just as bad as English. When we started having science classes, I finally found homework that I could bring myself to do consistently (that's an understatement. I love science homework .
I didn't pay much attention in class either. I was usually too busy pretending my pencil was a sword, or submarine to care what the teacher was saying. I was just an all around terrible student. Funny thing is, I think I've only failed maybe six tests in my entire school career.
I drove my teachers so totally nuts, that my fourth grade teacher actually called my mom crying about how she was sorry she couldn't change me (or some such thing) and resigned from teaching at the end of the year. I do feel a little guilty about that one... On the other hand, she was awfully harsh with me and that just made me want to defy her more. Some people just don't break under that kind of pressure." Does age really matter?

One of the problems is that I really can't, legally, get too far with girls who are much younger then myself. It's kind of a weird age like that. I mean I couldn't morally go much younger then the law says anyway, but that limit exists. I don't want a baby, and I don't want someone over 40 or anything, but I'm open to a fairly large age difference I think." View

i saw them live nov'06 in Cologne(GER). was so lucky to win 2 additional tickets and a meet&greet with the band right before the concert. so i could see their soundcheck from backstage and later the concert from 1st row =)
amazing perfomance by the band, and amy looked so cute (as she always does ^^)
but after about 60-70minutes they were gone off the stage :*( too short!
hope to see them here again soon.
all of you who can see them performing their next concerts -> HAVE MUCH FUN! they're awesome =) but you probably know this...otherwise you won't visit their concerts :D
Oh, wow. You got to see the exact concert I missed out on (same tour, different location). Was it really that short?
HaHa, your rant made me smile, and you're absolutely right. They seem to be holding out on their fans for some reason or another. That's just sad...
Although, maybe their playtime is affected by the range that Amy has to sing at. I mean, even if she doesn't let it show, it can't be too easy to sing like she does. I mean, opera singers usually get a bit of a break between songs as other people sing and what-not, but since she's the only vocalist for most of their music, she's pretty much forced to sing like that nonstop for their entire set. Just a thought.

Pain and Fear
1 year 3 months ago
"Oh come now, I entertain myself by overcoming physical pain, discomfort, and fear. However, being a little masochistic and having the will to face my fears doesn't mean that I can do anything.
Starting with pain,
The body simply has limits to what it can take. Sure, in the proper state of mind, you can be shot or stabbed and not feel it for a while (provided it's not an instantly fatal wound like a shot to the head). However, any damage to your body still hinders you weather you feel it or not. You simply can't refuse to let it affect you.
Overcoming pain is simply the ability to accept whatever pain you feel, and act regardless of said pain. There are benefits to being able to shrug off a good set of punches/ kicks, but in the end it doesn't mean that you can't be stopped.
Now Fear,
Fear is not all bad, and cannot be completely erased in a sane person. The only reason it ever causes problems is because people will sometimes let fear freeze them entirely.
Fear is just a caution flag that tells you to pay attention to your situation. Like a helpful reminder to asses the risk of what you're doing before proceeding any further. Fear should not be avoided, it should be received objectively then dealt with as necessary to keep it from controlling you." View

Sure, you can line yourself up for some inescapable events to happen in your life, but that doesn't mean that fate played any part. An exaggerated example would be: if you photocopy your butt and staple it to your bosses face, then punch him out, you're going to be fired as soon as he wakes up, and most likely arrested.
Life is cause and effect, and some actions can have long lasting effects, or not have much effect until a much later time. I could say that we're all fated to die, but that's not exactly what's happening. Death is simply a part of life, it's a condition to living so it must eventually be met.
I see no convincing proof that we are not in control of ourselves. Fate seems more like an excuse for failure to me. "I was fated to lose" Just doesn't cut it. I will take responsibility for the results of my actions, be they good or bad, because whatever I come up with is at least partially my doing. " View
