"Anyone else watching this?

For those wondering, it's about the lives of poor university art students. The story follows their love loves, as well as deciding what they want to do after they graduate. Although it sounds far from interesting, to me it's great, as well as the amount of humour in it. It's based off of a manga of the same name, which won an award in 2003.

This is probably my favourite series I'm watching right now, which is like 10 different ones. It's a nice break away from the other anime, as this one relates to real life the most.

I'm enjoying every second of it, the music, the humour, the plot, just every single aspect of it. Too bad there's only like two groups subbing it, and is quite slow.

Also, does anyone have an idea where to get hold of the original manga? I'm curious to see what it's like."

"A couple of things:
- the rocks are really rough and not that well-extracted
- Naruto is also roughly cut
- butterflies should vary in size for a more dramatic effect
- Naruto's the focus, so blur the rocks in the background a bit
- the sky is really rough, try using gradient tool or something
- the light in the corner shining down is quite distracting, even if it doesn't make sense with the sunset, atleast make it so it fits..."

Anime Drawing

"It does, but then it doesn't. It depends on what.

First of all, I'm such a Gundam freak that I'd watch anything related to it. Sure Turn-A doesn't look like the rest, but I still watched it. I even watched the original 0079, Zeta, and the other older series as well, and I must say, they're easily better than SEED and DESTINY in every aspect.

Then again, there's the anime that have drawing styles that I dislike. Such include Ichigo 100% (yeah, yeah... watch the flames come in. I just hate how their faces are drawn... =_=), actually, Sousei no Aquarion at first too... but somehow the style's starting to grow on me.


What it really comes down to is what other factors relate to it. I guess it's the first impression it gives you, but if you actually watch more of it, and is interested in not only the style of drawing but the plot, music, or whatever else, it's still fine. ...that's just my view and opinion on things, though. ^^;"

Most Villainous Anime Character

"Don Kan'onji from Bleach.

He doesn't make me laugh. He just makes me wanna scrape my eyes out when reading the manga, or rip my eyes out when watching the anime.

If there was one thing I hate about Bleach, it's him. I couldn't stand him in the manga, but that part's already over... but after watching Bleach 33, I officially hate him. His voice actor is really annoying, or atleast, when playing him. He sounds like he's gonna die or something, suffocating and his breath is going short, while trying to speak Engrish.

Bleh. Just hate him."

"Well, I've seen this before and I've told you what I didn't like.

The calligraphy-esque font doesn't match with the large, tech-y feel font you used for 'HONG KONG', and the colour doesn't match either. On the things left of the HONG KONG text, the things that look like >>>, change the blending option to the same as what you used for the font; it should look better that way. "

what do you guys and gals prefer, dubbed versions or subbed?

"Subs, of course! Japanese voice actors, or Japanese people in particular tend to put a lot of... emotions/enthuiasm into speaking, which is especially important in Anime.

Honestly, when I watched dubbed animes, it's extremely hard to tell the characters' voices apart from the others... most noticably the male characters, oii... they all sound the same."

My first Grunge Wall

"Instead of using hue/saturation, use colour balance for better results; hue/saturation tends to be dull. To make it less plain, do more layers of grunge - dark, light, dark, light, or whatever pattern looks the best. Also, change some of the layers blending options; usually, soft light and overlay are your best choices. If you're looking for grunge, layers above your character layer shuld make it look better as well. Or, if you want it to be similar to Drowning, you can add more layers of text - right now, you don't have enough, it's just randomly scattered. "

That scan of Ichigo is just too nice not to wall with, but I'm out of ideas. I'm sticking to the idea of a silhouette, but I've gone from him standing in a graveyard, to standing in barren land with swords all scattered above, to this. I've been working on this one for a while, but I just can't seem to be satisfied... =.=

So... trying to do scenery. Took a stock photo and touched it up a bit to fit and look more anime-ish... I guess. I wanted Cagalli to be standing outside on the Archangel or something, but I think that's way beyond my level of skills...

Sousei no Aquarion

"A relatively new anime, Sousei no Aquarion, that I'm really enjoying. It's currently up to episode 6 now, and subbed up to 5.

It seems like not much people like this anime, but I think it's pretty interesting - but then I'm easily satisfied with giant mecha.

Bias aside...

The animation is superb! The mechs are 3D, as well as many other things... The giant robot, Aquarion consists of 3 'Vectors' or planes that combine and make one of three different variations. The characters, didn't look that attractive when I first looked at the site; but I guess I'm used to it, or it's growing on me. The music is damn good as well, I'm really liking the opening; not as much the ending which seems to be a jumbled mix of different languages...


Okay, maybe the story is a bit strange, and the comedy usually breaks the tension in the show at unexpected times... but if it was me, I'd watch it just for the animation.

If you're mech-crazy like me, I'd recommend it. XD"
