After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Drawing Questions

"Probably the best book on drawing is The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. It doesn't replace practice, but the methods Betty Edwards teaches will give you a kick start and prevent you from getting frustrated at the beginning. I drew the following after just a few hours of reading:I know it's far from being perfect, however considering I wasn't even able to draw stick-figures before reading the book it isn't bad at all. "

Does Heaven and Hell exist?
2 years 3 months ago
"But unlike all the other holy humbug you can
* feel the pressure the wind exerts on your skin
* you can build devices to measure it
* you can freeze the air so it becomes liquid
* you can make it visible by adding smoke (e.g. wind tunnel)
* ...
do something like this with heaven and hell and i'll gladly believe it. However not being able to disprove something is no proof by itself. Take the following as an example: Right beside me there's floating a mysterious creature with pink fur and orange horns. It is invisible to everyone but me, nor does it interact with it's environment in any way. Now this must be true since you can't disprove it.
If one states something to be true out of nowhere he is the one with the burden of proof, not the rest of humanity.
Don't apologize to others just because they prefer to be delusional about god, heaven and hell, or do you apologize to someone running his head against a wall for offending him because you are not doing the same."

Power over your dreams
2 years 4 months ago
"I had one lucid dream during a polyphasic sleep experiment* I did a few month ago. It was very short though (about two minutes), but nevertheless an amazing experience. I was fully aware I was dreaming and to some extent I was able to manipulate my surroundings. Unfortunately before I could do more than some exploring the dream ended. I'm planning to repeat that experiment in a few weeks from now with better preparation (and hopefully better results). What I know from others however is that you aren't completely godlike, for example your dreams still have some physic rules you need to obey to (not neccessarily the rules of the real world, so flying, telekinesis and such are possible), furthermore those skills can be trained and you get better with every dream.*)Polyphasic sleep is a special form of sleep where you take your sleep in several short naps over the day instead of one big chunk. A very popular form and likely the most extreme is known as uberman or davinci sleep (Kramer form Seinfeld did it in the episode 'The Friars Club'). In this schedule your total sleeping time is reduced to about 1.5-3 hours a day, split into 6 equally long and equally spaced naps over the day. In addition polyphasic sleepers often report more intense dreams and an increased frequency of lucid dreams."

Logical Problems II

"I just tried to show what to do without actually doing it. I try to put it differently: Print these figures and cut out the first one. Then try to make two straight cuts so that the resulting pieces can be assembled to perfectly fit the second figure."

I don't see how this could be put together to form a square."

"Imagine the object to be a piece of paper now take a pair of scissors and make two straight cuts. Now rearrange the parts so that they form a square. Here's an example with two arbitrary cutting lines which result in a pretty arbitrary square:

"Yes you're correct. Here's a graphical version of the solution:Here's the next one:
Place two straight cuts through the above object in such a way that the resulting parts can be put together to form a square. Note: The small squares are just there to form subsidiary lines, your cuts don't need to follow them."

"In some way your solution hits the bull's-eye, however it doesn't explain why two similar looking triangles, consisting of identical parts, seem to have different areas.
You're welcome! Feel free to share some of yours."

"Ok, first the solution to the game show riddle:I don't have much on your goat riddle by now. The only solution I can currently imagine is the following:
Here's the next problem:
All parts in both figures are exactly the same, but then where comes the hole from?

"Yes I already knew a similar problem, so it was not too hard for me. I'll give you the answer for the gameshow riddle now, but I won't tell yet why it's correct:Try to find the answer to that question for yourself."

"Yes that's the solution!
Here's one of my all time favourites to kill time while venting your head from the scale riddle:
One of three doors hides a car (all three equally likely) and the other two hide goats. You choose Door 1. The host, who knows where the car is, then opens one of the other two doors to reveal a goat, and asks whether you wish to switch your choice. Say he opens Door 3; should you stick with your original choice, Door 1, or switch to Door 2?

"Ok you're too good :P, here's a tough nut to crack for you:
You are given 12 identical-looking coins, one of which is counterfeit and weighs slightly more or less (you don't know which!) than the others. You are given a balance scale which lets you put the same number of coins on each side and observe which side (if either) is heavier. How can you identify the counterfeit and tell whether it is heavy or light, in 3 weighings?

"Exactly, now give it a try with 10 coins.
Another nice riddle with coins is the following:
Given the arrangement of coins on the left the goal is to reach the formation on the right in only three moves. This arrangemnt has room for a 7th coin in the middle with all outer coins touching it. A coin may only be placed on a new position if it touches two other coins. All moves must be done within the plane of the initial arrangement. The positions of the other coins must not be changed during this process.

"That's not a valid solution since you move for example the third coin over three coins. The only valid moves are shown below (the inverse moves of course are valid too):
XeroMancer if it's an acurate scale showing grams I got a solution:

"For the curious, here's the solution:Here's a new one:
Given the following arrangement of 8 coins, your goal is to create 4 piles with 2 coins each.
With each move you must jump with the moved coin exactly over two coins, it is then placed on the next coin. You are allowed to make 4 moves."

"I'm sorry guys, no typos and no forgotten parts of the riddle. It's solvable the way it is now.Hint:
PS: ExileZX the age you got isn't correct. 40 - 15 = 25, but in seven years Silvias age will be 22 then, meaning Silvias Mother would be 110."
