After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

"I would've gotten a DS last year but somewhere along the line, I lost the motivation. Had no plans of buying a PSP but I ended up getting one. Strange world.I wouldn't mind getting a DS still. The only reason I held up on buying one was because I was waiting for a decent flashcart to come out. Now that there are several choices, I might consider picking up a DS and a flashcart next year. I'm still enjoying a lot of games for the PSP tho. And if ever I get bored (haha, ya right), I'll just switch my 1GB stick for the 32MB one and play some Mario World or Punchout.
It's a shame really. A lot of people don't know about the homebrew capabilities of both handhelds. But then again, DS homebrew requires a flashcart which isn't as easily available as the Memory Stick. Truth be told, I was planning on buying the DS for the games, but I bought the PSP for the homebrew. And by homebrew, I mean roms and emulators. ISOs are a plus.

Games Subs
4 years 2 months ago
"Fansubs are easy because they'd just have to translate the dialogue and hardcode the subtitles into the video file. For games however, they would have to first extract the game's dialogue. They'd have to translate that and then decide the most proper font to use for the game. Finally, they'd have to hack the text back in and make sure the game displays the font properly. If coming out with game subs was so easy, translation teams wouldn't have to spend months to years of hard work just to complete one project.
In other words, forget about it."

Laptop or Desktop?
4 years 2 months ago
"You're points are so weak and irrelevant its sickening. Do you even own a computer?Desktop
---------
Theres only 3 valid reasons to use a desktop.
a. Serious Gaming
b. Media Center Hub
c. They provided you with one at work
The third one is a stretch, but still, a desktop would only be a better option if you're considering the first two choices. Sure, there are laptops designed for gaming or as a media player, but when it comes down to it, a desktop is the ideal choice. One of the main reasons being that desktops are easily upgradeable. Not only that, but they cost significantly cheaper than a laptop with the exact same specs. The issue about buying a net service provider is just plain stupid. You'd have to pay for one regardless if you're on a desktop or a laptop. Unless you're one of those people who leech the wireless connection from their neighbors (which is illegal in the US). But if you are, then there are wireless adaptors for desktops as well.
If you're desktop is designed to be a media center, that invalidates the laptop's advantage of being able to watch anime anywhere in your house (or however far the range of your wireless network is), since then you could stream your anime/mp3s/videos to any TV in your house from your PC.
As a gaming machine, it wouldn't be a problem to upgrade your computer's specs every few years to confirm with the current system standards to play the newest games. The downside to this is that the upgrades tend to stack up and you'd have to take into account internal cooling to make sure nothing overheats and your CPU is functioning at optimum performance.
Finally, for portability, there are towers specifically made for portability. Ever heard of a Mac Mini? How about the frag box? Have you ever been to a LAN Party? There are some people who bring their own PC's with them, and although it's not an option that one would normally use, it's still an option, nonetheless.
One problem that people sometimes neglect is voltage. Desktops consume a significantly larger amount of power than laptops. This is hardly a problem for some, but those few dollars per month add up.
Laptops
---------
Depending on the specs of your laptop, they tend to be a better alternative to desktops if you dont plan on doing any hardcore gaming. $40 for a mouse? Ya, maybe if you're buying from Futureshop. You can easily get a a good $14 optical mouse if you shop around, and some laptops even come with a separate mouse. then grab a keyboard and you have a desktop replacement. So basically, laptops can do almost everything a desktop can. But theres one catch: Upgrading.
While desktops are very upgrade-friendly, most laptops have very limitted capabilities in terms of upgradability. On most cases, the best you can do is to buy a faster processor and some RAM. This is where laptops fall short from desktops. If you want to play all the upcoming games that are coming out, you better hope your laptop comes with a video card that ISN'T an intel integrated one. I can vouch for the fact that an intel integrated card pales in comparison to an average vid car with independent vram. Since you most likely dont have the option of upgrading the video card, you're pretty much stuck with what you have and the only way to play newer games would be to buy a new laptop altogether.
Another case would be the battery life. Powerful specs for a laptop is a double-edged sword. While giving better performance, it usually sucks up your battery in a few hours. This can be remedied with the AC adaptor but an outlet isn't always available to you. And to point out, 4-8 hours? Excuse me, but just what the hell kind of laptop are you using? My battery recharges from 5% - 100% in a little over an hour. That's with the power off. While the battery is charging, you're still free to have your laptop on, so that HARDLY limits portability. The time it takes for you to find an outlet after running out of battery is the only thing that limits the laptop's portability.
Finally, one thing any laptop user needs to invest in: a laptop carrying case. Be it a case, bag, or backpack, just buy one SPECIFICALLY MADE for laptops. A normal bag would just not suffice, and I guarantee you that your laptop wont last long if kept in a normal backpack. Regardless of how durable they might be, laptops can only take so much beating before it dies on you. It only took my laptop a few days in a backpack before it had it's first hardware error (thankfully, nothing serious). If you are going to carry your laptop in a backpack, use padding to cushion it. It really helps.
Summary
-----------
It all comes down to your priorities. If the main purpose of your computer is to play the latest games, a desktop is for you. For the price of an above average gaming laptop, you could get the whole package for a desktop, sacrificing portability for power. While a $3000 laptop for gaming would get you far, a $3000 gaming desktop would get you miles farther.
For more casual uses, a laptop, handsdown, beats desktops. Why type papers, edit photos, or surf the net locked up inside your house, when you can do all that on the front porch swing. Heaven knows you need some sunlight to shine on you. It's not all that bad for gaming either, just don't expect to play next year's games with a decent frame rate. And be sure to always have an AC adaptor handy.

The Most Overrated Game EVER!

"Give proper reasoning, you pricks.Halo. I've played my share of FPS games on the PC and the console. I also have played Halo on the Xbox and the PC. Frankly, I dont see what the big deal is all about. The only reasoning I find valid for Halo's success is that its one of the few FPS games that actually works well on a console. But when it comes down to the sheer basics of it, it's pretty much just another FPS to me.
GTA? I think it's a little overrated. Sure, its an awesome game with you'll probably spend a good chunk of your time enjoying the game. But its hardly perfect. Seriously, how many kill-this-person, drive-around, escort-so-and-so, or go-point-a-to-point-b missions can you stand before it gets repetitive? Well, okay probably a lot, but once initial magic wears off, it gets a little ho-hum.
I can only speak for those two since I only read page two of this thread and those are the only games I've enough experience playing to give an intelligent response to. As for the other people saying a game is overrated just because it wasn't what you expected, then it's your own bloody fault for expecting too much. Lower your expectations and you'll rarely be dissapointed.

Best mmorpg (online rpg) game
4 years 3 months ago
"I'd like to post my opinion on the topic, just because I can. This is my opinion and has no basis of fact or whatever.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You guys who see Ragnarok Online as the *best* mmorpg seriously need to stop playing in private servers, get a job, and buy a different one. There are other mmorpgs that offer more like Quests, Missions, Objectives, Depth, Gameplay, a story. Ragnarok online isn't a terrible game. On the contrary, it's pretty good. But its far from being the best.
</end rant>
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, based on circumstances, my opinion on the best MMORPGS fall in different categories.
a. Free to download, Free to play: Ragnarok Online with a good Private Server
b. Buy game, free to play: Guild Wars, although it is hardly "Massively Multiplayer"
c. Buy game, pay to play: World of Warcraft.
For c., I chose WoW since comparing the three p2p games I have played (FFXI, WoW, RO), it's the only one that was able to grab my attention for more than a few months. I can't comment much on Lineage 2 as I have yet to play it, but it looks too much like just another hack n' slash 3D Ragnarok Online. The aspect I disliked most about FFXI is the partying system that is forced upon you to level up. Unless you're a Beastmaster, you're only option to progress is to team up with other people. In later levels, without a static party, you're left to wait for several hours to find a party, just to disband minutes later. Ragnarok Online was fun for the first few weeks, until you realize you're doing the same thing over and over agian to gain the next level. WoW gave me the option to progress whether I was alone or feeling social. Anyway, in the future, something will probably come along thats better, but in the meantime, I'd say WoW is currently the best mmorpg. Or maybe EQ2 but EQ was never cool >_>
