StellarXInochi's wallpaper is a beautiful piece of art combined with excellent design and an outstanding concept. The soft, yet bright colors create a fairytale-like atmosphere, and the water-color-like execution meets a successful typograhy and makes the wallpaper something special.

Peace Maker Kurogane

"Peacemaker Kurogane is not bad. I loved the darker and dramatic parts. Some comical parts also worked well. Some not. But it's definitely good anime. And I have heard from my friends that manga is (much) better...can't say for sure because I haven't read it (maybe some day)."

"I love the art and especially character design. Music is ok and plot seems to be quite good (seen 6 episodes, must watch tonight some more). But there is some things that annoys me and could have been done better and with more elegance. For example, I almost laughed my head off when I saw that blue "bear" (Marjorie Doe, or something like that) first time. That was very, very unstylish imo.

And there are some signs (remember, I have seen just 6 episodes) that there will be triangle drama (why I'm not surprised). It's not necessarily a bad thing but seen it 100+ times already. Can't understand why they can't make romance-based drama without that element..."

"Plot is deep alright, but I didn't enjoy it that much (it was Ok, don't take me wrong). The things I enjoyed most were the animation and atmosphere. I have also always liked "what-if" -type history so this was good entertainment for me from that angle too. I recommend."

This *is* a girl, right?

This *is* a girl, right?

"Simple formula: humanoid + boobs = girl ;)

I didn't have hard time with that picture. But I must admit that there can be little problems to know character's gender. At least in anime where character's seiyuu can be (and often are) "other gender"."

"SisP is a great anime. Why? Cute (I repeat: cute, not sexy) things and no plot to disturb you. That's a winner combination. The only bad thing is annoying protagonist's friend...*ahem*. Well, if speaking seriously, I understand if some people don't like SisP: if cute things or heartwarming and comedical scenes aren't enough I can't really blame. Usually I don't like this kind of series too much either. I want at least a mediocre plot. But somehow this is an exception (not only exception, I must admit).

My favourite characters are btw. Chikage, Haruka and Karen.

And an additional note: my friend uses SisP to cure hangovers ;)"

"Seen the anime. Didn't like it. Some good characters but if you look whole package...very moderate. I just waited over 15 episodes, when the plot would start rolling and something meaningful would happen. My hopes were in vain. I watched it till the end just because I had already wasted a great amount of time to that insignificancy. That kind of series are nothing if the plot doesn't work. If I want just blood, I can watch the news.

I have heard that the manga is better. Can't say anything about that (I don't want to be disapointed twice by the same stuff so I haven't tested it)."

Mahoraba ~ Heartful Days

"I pledge my allegiance to Mahoraba!

One of my favourite series. And the manga...even better. I can't understand how all can be so perfect in anime but it can still be done better in manga. Unbelievable. Great art and very great characters, really my kind of humour (well, I'm more Sexy Commando or Cromartie -person but still) and OP song is a winner. I refuse to believe that Mahoraba is Akira Kojima's debut. Too perfect. :P

"I have seen like 8 episodes. Not bad (Aoi <3 emoticon), nice art and all but I didn't think that AYA is something special until I started to read manga. I have read 6 volumes and I'm an addict. It works (imo) much better than anime. I think the biggest reason is that when reading manga you can concentrate to pictures and fast-read parts you don't like too much. :P (I have some issues about harem series: in that "genre" there is good stuff but I have seen too many series that are too much alike)

I have heard some comments about how anime is better than manga. Heresy, I say. Heresy! ;)

"I love it. I just love it. I have all dvd's (CotS, BotS1 and BotS2). This is what I want from anime (among other things). Epic battles, great feelings, some realistic humour, good characters and credible world & plot. And I find the lack of swag (wallpapers, figures, pencilboards, keyrings...etc.) disturbing. Must. Buy. Stuff.

I have also Seikai-trilogy -manga. I love first two (they don't give anything new but I just had to buy them, it's this little obsession-thing)...but the third. Arrrgh. First rule: Do. Not. Change. Artist. In. The. Middle. Never.

And yes, I also am waiting that third installment. This excitement is killing me...."

"Assault nuns are always supported ;)

I liked the series quite much. Many great characters, good plot and competent ending (quite many series will fail at the end: maybe I have a different view about storytelling and plot ending than japanese...who knows). Music and art were also OK. So, it's quite solid package.

But well, I just wanted to ask this: is there any difference between anime and manga (and no spoilers, thx). Just thinking about buying it. My thanks.

"I have seen the first season and first episode from the second one. I must say that when I started to watch the first season I watched ~4 episodes and then I gave up: other characers were great (or at least ok) but I hated/didn't like the main character. But then my friend persuaded me to watch couple ep's more saying that there is some good stuff soon to come...and then I was hooked. I started to understand the main character more when I heard his past...and Suisei Seki was great. ;)

I love the music especially "Battle of Rose", "Shukuteki", "Bara no Chikai" and "Kowareta Sekai". And the OP, naturally. And I am very happy that in Träumend there is at least some same songs (liked the first OP better). Can't say anything sure about the plot yet...but it seems to be quite promising.

Hentai

"I don't have much experience about hentai (or at least so I pretend to myself) but: there is softcore hentai and then there is softcore live pornography. And then there is sick hentai, yes, but there is also sick live pornography. And if you stop to think which one is more harmful and includes more often organized crime and abuse... Hell, this conversation is really, really off scale. You can condemn hentai if you like, but I wish you also remember what I just said: alternatives aren't good either. Especially if we remember what felixir said:

Hentai isn't bad at all, and those who say its sick and perverted, well you could pretty much say the same on the topic of actual pornography. It's a nice release for sexual tension, and hey, whatever floats your boat right? ^_^

IMO there is more harmful ways this tension could be released.."

samurai x

"Kenshin OVA (Trust and Betrayal) is one of my favourite anime. Seen it at least 10 times. (I use it to addict more people to anime ;)). It was...impressive. So impressive that when I started to watch TV-show I was disappointed. I watched it till the end of Kyoto arc and I must admit it was quite entertaining in some level (some fillers, tho) and I liked some characters quite much. But after Kyoto...I couldn't take bad jokes, weak plots and overdose of orooo's after the epic drama of Kyoto arc. So I stopped watching.

hmmm....i like the story of samurai x.....but if you watched the very beggining of it i think it's not good for children because it is so brutal....but for i like it...

...and that's why we have quite high age limit."

"Omiane, you heretic! It's not ok to spoil the plot. And why in the first place you started to watch the second season before the first one. Can't understand modern youth. ;)

And if I must compare 1st and 2nd, I would say that 2nd seems to be better if you want epic battles and great feelings, can't say anything about the plot yet (but yes, there is much action in the first one also). But Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha is Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, so first or second...I love them both."

Gunbuster 2

"I have quite mixed feelings about Gunbuster 2. It's just wacky, weird and...GAINAX. "Gainaxication" can be seen for example in Gainax-bounces and Gainax-angles. I usually don't care much about those but nevertheless I watch Gunbuster 2 willingly. Still, I can't really say what I think about it, quite disturbing. And yes, I agree that music is quite good. And art is...let's just say interesting.

"Gainax destroyed the world and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"."

And about groups: I've seen some Aishiteruze Baby from a.f.k and it was (imo) ok. And I have a faint feeling that I have seen Battle Programmer Shirase from We Suck (can't be sure, and can't check it because I'm not at home atm (even though I have VNC server up and running at home: can't be without my precious collections ;))."

"First impressions were quite mediocre, at least compared to manga (I have read 1. volume or so) which I liked quite a bit. So, this was kind of a disappointment for me. Karin was cute yes, but not as cute as in manga. And somehow I got annoyed by those "rolling square"-type cutting between scenes. And Kenta's eyes (why weird, why not frightening?). Anju was great, tho. If I had to compare this (as anime) to Neko Mimi Mode...choice wouldn't be a tough one. Nevertheless, I was little amused (and because of it I am writing this even though I should be in bed already (I will definitely be in zombie-mode tomorrow)) so...I certainly will watch more.

PS. I just checked, and Kenta's eyes were quite similar in manga. But why in earth I didn't get irritated..."

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha :)

2 years 6 months ago

"Where would I start...

Nanoha = instant win. That's the basic assumption here. Loved the first "season" and loving the second one, maybe even more (we'll see). If you look the concept carefully you can see many revolutionary innovations and very skillfully constructed plot with a...*ahem* (got carried away there). If I could hold my inner Nanoha-fan in check, I would say that I like the series because there is some good characters (Fate!!), interesting world and plot which is much above the average Magical Girl -anime (imo). And very interesting weaponry (Scythe form! Set up!).

...but because I can't keep my inner Nanoha-fan in check, I just say: gotta love the berserker gosurori mahou shoujo and her german-speaking warhammer. (And as I said in other thread before: I love when they use title generator) :)"

2 years 6 months ago

"The last one I watched to a end was *ahem* Tsukuyomi Moon Phase. And before that, Mahoraba and Air. They are all my favorite series for this year. And in "unfinished"-category, I have been concentrating to Pani Poni Dash (hilarious), Solty Rei (promising), Shuffle (great in it's own genre) and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's (I love when they use title generators..)."
