Trick or Treat by °chanelqueen17 1 month 2 weeks ago

^nat
After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Chrno Crusade Wall

"I was thinking about adding a rosary somewhere on it, but I wasn't sure if it would look okay. Like, should I find a stock image and just extract/clean it up, or should I make one in Photoshop? And if I draw one out, would it look better cel-shaded or soft-shaded?
I used that font on the sig so that it could be read easily. The sig should be covered by the taskbar so it won't normally be seen, but I'll see if I can get it to blend a little better.
Nanook, which font do you mean? The writing on the photo, the "carved" words in the desk, or the sig text?

Thanks for the encouraging comments everyone, I'll work on it!"

"I've always thought that the wallpapers that looked like a photo on a desk were kind of cool. This wall started out being slightly more "regular" but I wanted to know what it would look like with sepia toning, and I really liked it. The transition to it becoming an old photo followed soon afterwards, and then I added the wood grain for it to sit on. I had the idea to add the carved words at the very end, so please tell me if you think they look okay or not. I know it's not the most unique idea but I think it came out pretty well ^_^;
The quote written on the photo is from the English dialogue in the episodes - I don't think Rosette says that in the original Japanese, but I thought it fit the picture.
Anyway, please tell me what you think! Thanks~!

My first attempt at a wallpaper

3 years 8 months ago

"I like what you've got so far, but I don't know about the blurred image in the bottom left.

Also, it's spelled "vengeance"; you've got it as "vengence" right now. Other than that, it looks pretty good ^_^"

Bird disease

3 years 8 months ago

"In my history class, we watched a video about an influenza epidemic in 1918. It spread through the air, and soldiers in WWI spread it among themselves, then brought it back to their own countries. It was really dangerous and it's been speculated that almost everyone worldwide had been infected during that time. I'd never really been too concerned about the bird flu, but after the video, the professor said that some scientists believe the 1918 influenza might have been avian in nature... So now I'm a bit more careful ^_^;"

New bird species discovered...

"It's really amazing that something like a species of bird has gone undiscovered for this long. Like akiraxn said, most newly discovered species are really small or really hard to get to. It looks cool though ^-^"

"Wow, thanks for the very detailed critique Furikuu. The thing I hate about working on a project for a long time is that after a while I'll fail to notice details that need to be fixed. I try to leave it for a day and come back to see if I notice anything, and I'll also take the image and rotate or flip it to see if I can pick out things that should be changed. All of the stuff you mentioned makes a lot of sense, and I can see it all clearly now that it's been pointed out.

I just wish I had seen this post about 15 minutes ago as I just submitted this wallpaper (I did change a few things, but not really any of the stuff you've mentioned). Well, if it's rejected (which I think it will be now, haha) at least I know what I need to work on. Thanks Furikuu, and every else who's posted!"

"Not only is this my first attempt at a wallpaper for this site, but this is also the first vector I have done.
The scan I used is here -> click (Thanks ~Jojosan!)

Comments and critiques would be very much appreciated, as I don't want my first submission to be rejected. I know the vector isn't the best (still new at the process) but I do like how it came out. Any tips on what I could do to improve it are very welcome though. Also, any notes on the background and overall composition would be very helpful.

"Great job on this! The shoes do look like they'd be a problem to work with, but I think you did really well.
I'm actually working on my first vector for a wallpaper (using the same tools as well), so I can understand and respect your accomplishment!"

Hello AnimePaper!

"Well this seems like a logical place for a first post. I'm 20 years old, male, and live in MO, USA. I'm a big fan of anime and love to work with graphics programs such as Photoshop (it's actually part of my job). So hopefully I'll fit in - here's hoping anyway! I'm really looking forward to being a productive, contributing member of this community. Hope to meet you all soon!"
