The amount of patience, hard work and an eye for quality is what defines this wallpaper. Character is painstakingly vectored off a real life toy image with references to screenshots. Despite the difficulty level,
~pvc24 still manages to nicely depict the image in anime fashion and yet able to find the mental strength to come up with a background composition that is both aptly fun and pleasant in atmosphere.

Gender Stereotypes in Advertisements
1 year 2 months ago
"In my "Violence Against Women" course we discussed something similar, and looked through some women's magazines to see how women are depicted in ads, and one of the most interesting things that we saw was just how women were objectified, and not necessarily in an overtly sexual way. Often besides being in an ad with the handbag, shoe, or perfume, the woman, in some way, with her body, was often used to show that she WAS a handbag, shoe or perfume. Sounds silly, but we saw a huge amount of examples of women either wearing clothing that was of the same pattern of the thing they were selling, with watches or jewelry looking like it was part of their skin or being dressed up to look like a cosmetic item.It speaks volumes of how even in our advanced society there is still a subtext of the thought that women can be bought and sold. Men, by contrast, were never displayed in such a way, and often, they weren't even HOLDING the product that they were advertising. In addition, with advertising featuring men it was almost always clear what exactly was being sold on the page. With advertising featuring women, we would sit there, look at each other and go "What the HELL does this have to do with razorblades/scarves/vodka?" It was almost like, buy our product, get a sexy girl free.
Oh, and though we are trying to steer away from racial differences, there was one interesting thing that we DID notice, which was the ads predominately featured white women, and whenever women of other races were seen [in our class we each had a magazine, and we found ONE Asian woman and ONE black woman] women of other races were portrayed as exotic, otherworldly and animalistic, often wearing colors and patterns reminiscent of tropical birds or jungle animals. Just an interesting observation on our part, again speaking volumes of the subconscious of our society even today.

Does age really matter?
1 year 2 months ago
"Well, if you are actually 28 years old, then that kind of an age difference is far less important than if you are, say a freshman in high school because honestly, what the hell would you guys talk about? Unless you're some kind of prodigy then it would be difficult for you to truly be able to relate to this person on any kind of level. I would say that once you reach about 20, the difference in age when it comes to dating someone older becomes less important. But, if you are the younger party and you're under that age, then you're still just a child."View
Product: "Marriage" Manufacturing Date: "dd/mm/yyyy"
1 year 2 months ago
"[sigh] I am not going to repeat my ramble about how no one really knows what their personality is going to be like until much later in life than they originally realize, and how neural paths are not made more solid until your later twenties, you can read about it in the love thread regarding young people if you wish to reread it.But it has a huge impact on the amount of marriages that fail because people get married and don't realize that PEOPLE WILL CHANGE especially if they're still relatively young. Nowadays people seem to think that because they can live on their own or because they're in college or even because they had a child it means that they are emotionally and psychologically ready to be married to someone, and it just isn't the case.
Also, I think that people don't respect marriage as an institution anymore and NO it has nothing to do with the homosexual community wanting to marry, because I am 100% for that.
What I mean is, people get married at the drop of a hat, without much forethought, and for all the wrong reasons, and then wonder why the divorce rate is so high. That, or they don't understand that the whole concept behind marriage is supposed to be that, frankly, it IS a forever kind of thing. A good deal of people see divorce as an easy way out. If you're even thinking that way then you shouldn't even be thinking about marrying someone. Consider blissful cohabitation as a viable solution, it's a lot less messy if things go downhill.
Not only that, our media is saturated with big name celebrities who treat marriage as a game, something to be picked up and then dropped when interest is lost in it. While I don't believe that most people are mindless sheep that will follow pop culture trends wherever they go, it does stand to reason that having such a casual attitude regarding marriage does desensitize the general population to these kinds of things.
Personally, as of right now, I am living with the love of my life, sharing income and bills and putting myself through school. We know that once school is over we are going to get married, but it will not be a minute before although we are eager to...We know that we still need to grow in some ways as human beings, and completing our studies will help us with that. Not only that, we will have the foundation once we are finished with our schooling for careers that will make us happy outside of our marriage, which I think is another key aspect that people overlook. While a marriage is supposed to make you blissfully happy, if you have nothing else outside of it, the moment things are a bit off in your relationship you will have nothing else to fall back on until things get steady again."

Do you believe in love at a young age?
1 year 2 months ago
"You can most definitely love as a young teen or a child but the problem is because your neural paths are not myelinized yet, the paths could and usually do change by the time you reach your early twenties. Translation: people change drastically and many times before they reach their early twenties because your brain and personality hasn't settled into what it is going to be yet, and being in love with someone before then could mean almost certain heartbreak because lovers may find as they grow older that the person that they are with is the very last person they ever would have wished to be with."View
A sexy girl & an honest girl
1 year 2 months ago
"Why do sexiness and honesty have to be mutually exclusive? Or are you perhaps confusing the word "sexy" with the word "slutty" which are NOT the same thing. I happen to be engaged to a VERY honest VERY VERY sexy man and I would not want to have it any other way. Sexiness is just one of many positive attributes a person could want in a mate and it's perfectly natural to seek it out."View

What do u think of being a vegetarian???
1 year 3 months ago
"Read or watch "Fast Food Nation" and see if you still believe the same. Or, though I loathe them, take a look at the PETA website and see what really happens in slaughterhouses. We are not talking about the days of Upton Sinclair and "The Jungle." We are talking about the here and the now. And yes, while in certain areas they pass inspection enough for the government standards, most meat packing factories and livestock farms are inhumane, unsanitary, and on the whole, disgusting.

What do u think of being a vegetarian???
1 year 3 months ago
"I am most definitely a carnivore at heart, and I do love a good steak when it's done right or some lovely lamb...But the truth of the matter is that so much meat comes from the most disgusting sources, and I'm not even talking about animal cruelty here. Meat processing plants are some of the most unsanitary places around, not to mention working in the meat packing industry is one of the most dangerous occupations a person can have. People get sliced up every day, and things that shouldn't end up in your meat, like dirt and grime and feces from the cow ends up getting mixed in there anyway. So, I try to stay away from meat, especially from fast food places because they are the worst of all. I guess you could say that I am a partial vegetarian, because I will eat fish and seafood and veggies and such. Though even so, I try to be careful to make sure that the food that I do eat is organic, hormone free and free trade so that I know that I'm getting the very best quality food that doesn't come from huge conglomerates that sanction unsanitary conditions."

Can Animation Evolve?
1 year 3 months ago
"Oh. My. God.First of all, people, STOP quoting the god damn entire essay when you reply, we all saw it, there's no need to make the page longer than it already is. Thaaanks.
Second of all, it amused me greatly to see Trigun and Bebop as being listed as slightly older anime...While it is true, I just found it amusing because it means I'm getting old. Ha.
And third, neither of those two things had anything to do with the evolution of animation, so my answer to the question is, it is a form of art, so, of course it does."

Not much 'discussion' going on in general discussion
1 year 3 months ago
"I believe that a large part of the reason why the general forums on this site are so mediocre is because of the fact that you receive papers for participation, and because of that there are rules in place which govern what types of threads are allowed for discussion. Otherwise, you would have even more inane threads simply for the sake of gaining papers [which still happens anyway]But in addition because of flame wars that have taken place here more stringent rules have been put into place so that people need to stay on very safe topics, such as, apparently, cheese sticks. I myself enjoy a passionate debate and would gladly take part in a serious topic or debate or even argument if anyone posed one for me. But after reading "What do you feel for how love is??!?" as a thread title for the fifty billionth time it makes you not even want to look at the forums anymore.
That is why I rarely comment anymore, although I used to all the time. I'm usually the person standing in the corner shaking her head going, you're all idiots.
Oh, and sorry for not filling out your questionnaire like the others did. I think my answers covered most of the topics anyway."

They don't have to be stereotypical reactions that the media has told us are the "gay" reactions, but putting one and one together is easier if you catch more of what people do and understand why they're doing it."View

Sex before marriage?
1 year 6 months ago
"I would like to point out that nothing could possibly be more awkward than sitting on your wedding bed on your wedding knight as a virgin, with your newly-wed spouse, also a virgin, and suddenly seeing the very first naked person you've ever seen in your life and all of a sudden being expected to magically know everything and having it be beautiful and romantic and wonderful and lovely and pure.Puh-lease.
The thing about finding the perfect spouse for you, as well as emotional and intellectual compatibility, is some level of physical attraction and compatibility. For all you people who haven't done the deed, just because you like them doesn't mean it's going to be a beautiful experience...even if you love them.
I am a firm believer in being in love before having sex, but since being in love doesn't necessarily mean getting married, no marriage is not a prerequisite for sex. On the contrary, this idea that marriage is a prerequisite for sex causes so many moral stresses and real life issues especially with the older generations of couples being taken seriously, not to mention being able to gain access to birth control if it is necessary.
So, put it off for as long as you can, but you don't have to wait for marriage to do it."

American ruins Asian
1 year 6 months ago
"Sorry but...L.O.L.
This made my day.
As for everyone getting all pissy about Americans destroying Asian culture, American culture is a culture of hedonism and destruction, and saying that it targets one specific culture is ridiculous. Not only is America a melting pot for a myriad of cultures, America is also the place where due to trends and popular fixations elements of various different cultures are bastardized left and right. READ: ASIAN CULTURE IS NOT UNIQUE TO THIS.
Also, if you want to whine about dubs v. subs or sub-par anime from Japan, y'all should have just said so. Call the spade a freakin' shovel already."

can school cancel the prom??
1 year 6 months ago
"They can absolutely cancel it. There is absolutely nowhere that it says that you are required to have a high school prom. Hate to sound like your administration, but having a school dance is a privilege, not a right. If people do things to screw around and not behave then they have every right if they think it is necessary to cancel it. Usually what I've seen are individual people who end up being banned from prom, or aren't allowed to walk on graduation day and are handed their diploma afterwards.Of course, there were several people who showed up very OBVIOUSLY drunk to my prom and nothing happened to them at all, so it's true that they can threaten you but sometimes that's all that they can do.
In any case, in retrospect your senior prom is not going to go down as one of your most amazing high school memories. It's a fun dance and all, but unless something personally happens for you that will make you remember this night, it's not anything more extraordinary than a fancy dance and dinner. The memories that you made with your friends during high school will endure far more than some silly school dance."
