After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Ouran Koukou Host Club - revised
10 months 2 weeks ago
" Long ago (2 years) I was working on this wall (which needed major work - too many butterflied & too large strokes) when the great Photoshop crash occurred & simultaniously killed all walling desire. But I am finally ready to begin walling again (Furuba calls to me) & I'd like to get this one finished up first. I lost Photoshop & had to resort to Gimp so, needless to say, this wall was started from scratch again. Suggestions? Comments? It feels like it needs something more but I don't want to overdo it again.

Wallpaper approvel~

"Did you do anything to the image itself or just create the background? Kyora is right - the background is out of focus while the center image is very bright & clear. Also, the coloring doesn't really go well together - the center is so colorful & the green is pretty but bland in comparision."View

"I really like the water & the moon reflection. The moon & space are still much too realistic - as is the trees. Plus, since the trees are blocking the moon some, they would be blocking the reflection - maybe the moon could be higher?Plus, all the other things I mentioned previously."

[suggestion] New Session Zero
2 years 4 months ago
"It would be nice if there was a way to see how many replies have been made to walls in the New Session Zero. I like to comment on walls that haven't recieved many comments rather than join a discussion that's already 10 comments strong. Right now, the only way to see that is to click on each posting."

"I have noticed that the "Notify me at blahblahblah@blah.com for every new post" option is missing in the new Session Zero. I see it in the old Session Zero but not the new one."

"It's interesting but the space is much too realistic. It also doesn't meet the watery bottom very well. I see a black stripe seperating the 2 layers. The crystals around her are really bright & kind of wierd. Are those wings part of the scan? They look seperated - like they are hovering over her.
The flower things behind her dissolving into snowflakes is an interesting idea but it doesn't fit the rest of the wall & doesn't look quite right yet.
I'd settle on one thing & then focus the rest of the wall around it. Space, crystals, dissolving flowers - there's too much right now. Build the wall to support whichever focus you want the wall to have."

[bug] email notification of new posts to thread
2 years 8 months ago
"When I get email notifications of new posts - the url link provided is missing necessary information. The link I get: http://www.animepaper.net/forums//47676
The link should be: http://www.animepaper.net/forums/General-Discussion/47676
The "General-Discussion" part is missing & so I get the authorization error message.
It's nothing hugely critical - I can get around it. But thought I should let you know. I couldn't find where anyone else had posted with a similar problem."

Walls used as avatars/layouts, etc.
2 years 9 months ago
"See the FAQ - If someone took your wall & altered it to make their own - they'd be in trouble. Wallpapers are posted here to share to be used as walls. If someone downloads a wall - they cannot post it elsewhere without permission. Even if a vector is uploaded to the scan gallery, if you use it, you have to credit the source. So I definitely wouldn't expect my walls to be altered. If you feel that way regarding your work, then that is your position. Which is what I was looking for.
I'm curious how protective others feel about their works. Personally, I don't mind if someone asks to make an avatar/icon from my wall. So long as they ask & give me credit. I probably wouldn't mind banners either - again so long as I got credit. But I don't really want my walls showing up in layouts, etc. It may be silly but that's how I personally feel."

"How do you feel about your created walls being used in avatars, banners, layouts, etc.? Do you do them for yourself personally? Do you allow others to use them if they ask permission? How do you feel in general about your work being used in such ways?I have mixed feelings myself. I have no problem with using my own walls however I see fit - but when other people want to alter my work... I have mixed feelings. While I appreciate the compliment, I just don't like the idea of someone messing with my hard work."

"You've been using the clone tool to move layers?! I have a whole new level of respect for your determination & patience!! There is a tool that you can use to move entire layers - it's the top right hand tool (I've attached a printscreen from my computer to point it out.) Now, this only moves a specific layer so if you have duplicate layers to create effects - I'm not sure how to move them all perfectly without merging all visible layers or something like that. Just select the "move tool" & click & drag. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b267/ockola/movetool.jpgWhat if you kept him where he was but moved the tabel to the right so just a bit of the table top was showing with the glass or cigar there. Then, when you get a microphone, it can go in the center. That way the focus stays on him but you still have those extra details.
There is a perspective tool under Edit>Transform>Perspective...
Here's a couple tutorials I found on neon text effects but I think your results are fairly similar...

Also - for shadows - drop shadows work sometimes but they are limited in what direction & shape you can get them to make. Frequently there's a better way - here's an article on shadows - I recommend the spot on creating shadows - it should really help. http://www.peachpit.com/articles/article.asp?p=30311&rl=1
I like that you moved the items down - the shadows still weren't right though...

"I fail to see how the "nature of the character" affects which stroke is most appropriate. That's a matter of personal preference & artist's choice. http://www.animepaper.net/gallery/wallpapers/Hanaukyo-Maid-Team/item39407/And I understand you guys need to back each other up in all these situations. I'm not angry at the mods or the rejection.
I just want my guidelines. I've blown hours on this wall only to have to redo it. If I had known tapered tips on my strokes was a requirement, I would have done so. The same with my larger strokes. Believe it or not, that was a conscious choice on my part. While each of my walls has gone through session zero - my vectoring has never been an issue. Frankly, I find the roundness of a strokes end much cleaner than lines dribbling off, and a strokes size doesn't effect it's "smoothness" . http://www.animepaper.net/gallery/wallpapers/Ouran-High-School-Host-Club/item39857/"

"I'm not disputing my wall rejection. I'm disputing guidelines that don't exist in any form that I can forearm myself with. I thought including my specific wall to be irrelevant. But since you seem to want it... http://www.animepaper.net/forums/Session-Zero/37778/
That's not to say I didn't consider disputing the wall itself as I feel there are several walls in the gallery with much worse vectors than mine. But I decided, why fight to get a subpar wall accepted when I can make it better?"

"Melly - I always have time to check out a friend's wall thread. I just tend to visit Session Zero in spurts so I need pms or reminders. :)Looks like this wall has made significant progress since the first post. I do see parts that need real work, though, so here goes...
The perspective of the flooring is way off. I like how you've added the edging at the bottom of the wall but that's something more likely to be used on regular walls - not brick meeting wood (I think). If you're not sure how to fix the perspective I suggest pming Hamstersanonymous (the perspectives guru). Hamsters does these really amazing perspective drawings & I'm not sure how to go about it or I'd try for you.
The flourescent light is a great touch but right now it doesn't look right. The drop-shadow is much too large for one thing. He's so far away from the wall, and the light is hanging on it, so the shadow needs to be very small to convey that closeness. Right now it looks too far out - like it's hovering 6" or so from the wall. You might want to try giving it a teeny black outline to match everything else.
The table & the items on it are an excellent idea but they need vectoring & outlines (the stand part just needs the lines). Again, the perspective is off. The shadows of the items just need to fall on the table. They are too far away to have shadows fall anywhere but on the table itself. And very small shadows underneath them to show they are directly on the table - not hovering over it.
He & the table need to be casting shadows on the floor. Especially if they are under all those spotlights. Frankly, the overlapping light effect from the walls should probably be applied over the entire wall rather than just the bricks. Those spotlights are going to create different lighting across the floor, the character & table, etc.
I really like the idea of a few posters scattered across the wall along with the flourescent light. I also like the idea of a microphone although you could always try to draw a wireless on him, too. I can see him drinking & smoking, though. Like that guy in the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. I did a google search for stand up comic & found a couple good reference pics...

"About 5 months ago there was that announcement about vectors & their needing significant work in order to be accepted. It was also mentioned that more specific guidelines would be eventually added to the FAQ.I recently had a wall rejected, and while the background did need work, another of the reasons given was that the vector outlines were done with simple strokes and I need to "outline the outlines." All my past walls were done with simple strokes but I guess, since this one is a larger "close-up" type of vector, the simple strokes were more obvious. The thing is, if I had known simple strokes were not sufficient I would have saved myself a lot of time by using the other method in the first place. That same week I also vectored a scan for MellyKill but after that notification about the simple strokes, I had to PM her & let her know the scan was probably useless until I can rework that vector, too.
I've reread the original announcement & don't see where I could have been forewarned on this. And now I'm worried that once I fix this problem I'm going to be informed of additonal aspects that are unacceptable. That same PM mentioned that frequently vectors (especially from screenshots) need additional details added as "there are always details missing. Usually in the eyes, and the hair and fabric. Those, needed to be added in as well." I knew the eyes needed work & had already referenced multiple scans to get those detailed but I don't know what else I could do. Is the best solution to PM a gallery mod before submitting?
Kalico told me she is working on the guidelines & I don't want to be a pest begging for them. It just seems unfair to have walls rejected for things that aren't clearly defined yet. "
