Trick or Treat by °chanelqueen17 1 month 1 week ago

After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Anime-Related Games?

2 years 3 months ago

"Most of the anime games I've played, which is a good chunk of them, and to be honest, most of them were average and nothing amazing. But I do admit, the DBZ Budokai games were good (especially the third one). But if you're looking for an awesome anime-inspired game, go find Guilty Gear X2 for the PS2/Xbox. It's not directly based off an anime but its by far the greatest 2D fighter in years, if ever. A diverse cast of characters, really deep, balls-to-the-wall combat, and a pulsing metal soundtrack make it my favorite fighting game ever."

"I don't know bout everyone else, but college life is a blast. There's so much going on all the time. $2 new release movies in a theater, sporting events, and maybe you're lucky enough to have an anime club on campus (like I do.) Sure the kick-back relax summer atmosphere is great, but there's something about hanging out with your friends constantly that kinda over-shadows the pain in the arse homework. The only thing I hate about it compared to home is the god-awful food in our cafeteria. Makes me wanna die X_X."

The Blues about Blues

2 years 4 months ago

"I was watching Blues Brothers 2000 the other day, and there's a part were Elwood (played by Dan Aykroyd) tries to keep the band from abandoning their quest to head to Queen Mousette's Battle of the Bands. He says:

Dan Aykroyd as Elwood J. Blues from 'Blues Brothers 2000'
You may go if you wish. But remember this: walk away now and you walk away from your crafts, your skills, your vocations; leaving the next generation with nothing but recycled, digitally-sampled techno-grooves, quasi-synth rhythms, pseudo-songs of violence-laden gangsta-rap, acid pop, and simpering, saccharine, soulless slush. Depart now and you forever separate yourselves from the vital American legacies of Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Jimmy Reed, Memphis Slim, Blind Boy Fuller, Louie Jordon, Little Walter, Big Walter, Sonnyboy Williamson I and II, Otis Redding, Jackie Wilson, Elvis Presley, Lieber and Stoller, and Robert K. Weiss...Turn your backs now and you snuff out the fragile candles of Blues, R&B and Soul, and when those flames flicker and expire, the light of the world is extinguished because the music which has moved mankind through seven decades leading to the millennium will whither and die on the vine of abandonment and neglect.

So is the foundation of rock'n'roll really being eaten away by newer styles of music, or is it the record companies trying to make millions of dollars? Is there a cultural change away from the blues or has the style really grown out of date? Maybe the Blues isn't really under attack at all and it may someday become a mainstream musical style, or maybe it already is? "

Global Warming

2 years 4 months ago

"I can't believe that there are people in the US that don't believe in the existence of global warming. Now I'll admit, I was never much of a believer of the whole global warming thing until I went to college. I've spent my entire life growing up in Wisconsin, which is blessed with all four prominent seasons. In my childhood, every Christmas was a white Christmas. Nowadays, we haven't had a white Christmas in three years. Where I go to school, each winter we have a Winter Carnival with large snow sculptures. The warmer winters nearly canceled this year's event and warmer weather three years ago caused all the statues to melt the day of.

It's hard not to see merit in the global warming argument (politicians who still believe that global warming doesn't exist need to be smacked upside the head.) Forest fires, temperature flux, and if it's not that, you're either in drought or swimming through 3 feet of flood water. Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth' made quite a large impact in the minds of people, as well. I was surprised that when it played at school, it sold out. That's gotta tell ya that something is definitely wrong here.

What has been your biggest dissapointment in anime?

2 years 4 months ago

"Nothing is more sad and cruel in the world of anime than the generally bad dubbing and editing of the American Anime industry. I remember comparing the Love Hina Japanese and English dubs a couple years ago, and the English made my ears bleed. There are still go dubs out there, but the bad ones outshadow the good ones.

But there is a new tragedy (other than being reminded of the 4kids One Piece dubs). Some friends and I had a chance to check out the first few eps of the Black Lagoon dubs. OMG THEY SUCK! The dubs don't fit and whoever directed it and let them take all the badass out of it will be smitten by the wrath of ten thousand angry crazed Black Lagoon fans."

What is ANIME for you?

2 years 4 months ago

"I can't really say why I enjoy anime since there are so many possibilities for me.

Maybe it's my desire to retain something from my childhood.
Maybe I'm just a sucker for a good story.
Maybe because most of the American TV shows suck. >.>
And that's just a few. It just trips my trigger, really. *shrug* It's my dreamscape."

Metroid

"
yushuv

samus is a babe

thats all i have to say

I wonder how many people in the gaming community still think that Samus is male. =P

When Metroid Prime was first coming out, I was worried about the transition to a 3D, as many a game has suffered cutbacks into the realm of 3D. (3D Sonic games, anyone?) Fortunately for me and the gaming world, it was amazing. They kept the sense of adventure and exploration alive in both the first and second Prime games. And I can't wait to see what they're gonna do with Corruption and all the Wii stuff when it comes out August 21st.

Now I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but there is a pattern with the endings of the Prime games that relates way back to the original Metroid. For those who don't know, depending on how fast you beat the original game, you would see a varying degree of revealing. Beating the game in under 5 hour, your next play-through will be with a helmet-less Samus. Beat in under 3 hours and your next play-through will be Samus in her Zero-Suit. Beat the game in under an hour and you'll be graced with Samus in a bikini. O.O

At the end of Prime, with more than 75% completion, you were able to see Samus's face brought to you in vivid 3D. In Echoes with more than 75% completion, we got to see our gaming goddess in her skin-tight Zero-Suit. So, for those who are putting 2 and 2 together right now, you're gonna have to use your imaginations for a while yet."

Talkin with SOmeone With Bad BREATHE!!!

2 years 4 months ago

"Though bad breath is bad, try dealing with someone that sprays spit and drools while they talk. There's this one guy back at campus that would barge into your room unannounced and just try to strike up a conversation. I'm normally pretty welcoming to people but this guy has the manners of a goat, and probably the common sense of one to boot.

My solution was to look busy doing something else, and since you know this guy from work, this shouldn't be that hard. Also, try to steer the conversation to a place that it will end quickly. If neither of those work, that's when you gotta get him away from you. I've done it a few times, and trust me, you'll feel better in the long run about it."

What's your biggest Pet Peeve when it comes to Wallpapers?

2 years 4 months ago

"There's nothing worse than finding a really awesome looking wall then seeing that the resolution is tiny, like 1024x768 tiny. I run at 1280x800, but even at today's standards that's starting to get small. Speaking of which, there needs to be more of a push to wall widescreen. I got a Dell magazine the other day and I think there are only 1 or 2 16:9 monitors in there.

The other thing is if the wall follows one of the style stereotypes, and doesn't do anything with it to make it cool or interesting or creative or anything. You see this a lot with the grunge-style walls. There's a lot of stuff that fits with a grunge style, and the bad ones have infested like termites. Someone will come to redo the grunge style and make it awesome again, someday, I hope. >.>

Gungrave

"Even though the end of the series makes it seem that the end quite bleak concerning Brandon's fate(trying to avoid spoilers here), it makes you wonder how much the games the anime was based off factor into the story. I have Gungrave: Overdose and that takes place two years after the Millennium incident, so maybe Brandon is just napping/reconstucted and ready to kill more bad guy arse. *shrugs*"

World of Warcraft

3 years 2 months ago

"I spent 1 year and 8 months playing WoW, and it's awesome as long as you can keep seeing the luster. Sometimes you get a really good guild and you'll get to meet really neat people. Sometimes you'll get new content that you'll spend/waste your time in for hours and hours. Sometimes you just want to pwn stupid n00bs. Ultimately what did it for me is that I was a long time player on an older server. Blizzard comes out with a couple new servers a month and people will flock there. Recently they opened up paid server transfers where you could move one of your characters to another server for the "reasonable" price of $25. Being a poor college student, that's hard, and the real killer is that a lot of the people I was doing stuff with quit (b/c they got bored, had life stuff going on, etc. etc.) and all the other people left my dead, lag-infested server.

Have someone give you a trial, if you like it and buy it, you won't complain about the $15 monthly charge."

DDR. Arcade vs. Console Game

3 years 2 months ago

"Go to the arcade for the experience of playing there. If you get really good, people will flock around in your stepping frenzy. However, playing the game in your room works for most people. If you are looking for a variety of songs, I know a bunch of friends and the campus DDR club use something called StepMania on their computers, and it allows to make your own mixes. There's a way to get a pad hooked up somehow but I forget at the moment.

All I can say is experiment in the end see what you like."
