"I like this series a lot. (I also like Nodame Cantabile which I've seen people mention.) After the first few episodes I really started to feel nostalgic and felt the need to get out my clarinet and start playing it again. Lol. What's even funnier is that when I had a few of my friends watch it, one asked for more. I was like "You're a guy, and this isn't a show a lot of guys would normally like, so I need to ask, why?" He told me "I played in band in school. Watching this makes me nostalgic." It was awesome!

I think what I like most about this series is that it doesn't focus on the people playing the music so much as it focuses on the music itself and the kind of enjoyment and happiness it can bring. I've always felt "Why, even at playing an instrument, are we still pushed to be better than everyone else? Why can't we just play to play?" And this series really touches on that, and I like it.

(Also, Hihara = ^_^ and Shimizu (or as I call him "Sleepy Kid") = ^_^

I love this series. Out of the ones I'm currently watching, it's near the top of the list. One of the things I like best about this series is the timeline. It isn't a story where once things get set in motion, it only takes another year or two for everything to get worked out. No, they go in sizeable jumps through time for their arcs, which is a great way to make it more realistic.

I've always liked the characters, but I was starting to get worried about Jomy. However, after the end of ep18, I'm thinking maybe he'll be alright. ^_^ Tony on the other hand... -_-"

The Golden Mean in Manga?

"A) The DaVinci Code may or may not be something to base a realistic argument off of, you know?
B) The picture you're using of the Pantheon isn't even a picture of it when it was first created, so how can you try to use that in an "the artist planned it that way" argument? (Also, the people who built that followed the Greek religion, Zeus, Hera, etc, not European religion).
C) The original Japanese religion did not revolve around the European concept of God, so things in Europe considered to be "this divine number" or "that divine shape" are not going to necessarily exist in Japanese works. If you're seeing it in them, it's possible that you're just seeing it because you want to. No offense intended.

I read a lot of manga, and I can honestly say that no such pattern has ever shown up. What has shown up are different styles of making particular images pop and draw attention more than others, different ways of spatial arrangements to fit a lot in a little space, etc etc. I highly doubt that manga artists take time before their deadlines to think "how can i make all of this fit into a particular shape"."

How do you keep track of what anime you watch?

"For a good portion of my series, I use the "My Watchlist" feature on Fansub.tv to keep track. For other series, I use the "Bookmarks" feature on the Google Toolbar to keep track of the sites I get them from. Storage-wise, I keep all my anime on an external harddrive and I give every series that I am actively watching its own folder. If I'm just watching a couple episodes to see if I want to watch the series, I keep all those episodes in another folder. Then I burn series off as necessary once they're complete."

Manga into Anime

"Are there any manga series that do not yet have anime counterparts that you think would be either:
-well translated from picture to motion,
-more interesting as an anime, or
-just be a really fun story for an anime series?

Personally, I'd love to see Alice 19th, Skip Beat!, and Beauty Pop turned into anime. Alice 19th, because I really like the story and the character designs!
Skip Beat! because I just think that the art style and visuals from the manga would be really nice to see animation. ...And because I think Kyoko is absolutely hilarious.
Beauty Pop because I like the story. ^_^ It's cute.

...Oh! And Hana Kimi! I was so excited when it was made into a live action drama in Taiwan. Especially since it was almost dead with with the manga, both in story and in how the characters looked! And just recently Japan finally made a live action out of, also, although unfortunately their's isn't nearly as good as the Taiwanese version. But still, I hope that their "next logical step" is a brillantly done anime (done maybe by BONES because their animation style would be perfect I think ^_^).

"I've only gotten around to watching the first 2 so far, but I still really like it. It sounded good when I heard about it 2 months ago, and when it finally came out I was really excited. It didn't disappointed. I really like the animation style too, and the seiryu are all some of my favorites, and still staying so. ^_^

There was that one scene in the first episode where she sees them pulling off their hands, and so she screams, and he covers her mouth with his detached hand. I was like "Oh! OH! I don't care if this *is* a zombie show. That's just wrong!""

Ever think you could make it as a voice actor?

What do you think of your voice? Has becoming a voice actor ever crossed your mind? What type of roles/characters do you think you could fill? Are there any characters where you think your voice (or your friend/someone you know) would have been better suited than the one cast? Instead of singing in the shower...ever acted in the shower? To what series? As who?

In order:
I think I have a pretty decent voice, especially (people tell me) when I sing. I've never been told my voice is annoying, so that's a plus, right? :)
I've definitely considered it. If I was ever going to do a type of liberal arts, it would be acting, specifically voice acting. I believe I can play out a lot of different emotions with my voice, though whether that's true or not is a matter of proffessional opinion. :P
Types of roles? Hmm. Well, probably the easiest would be older, mature sounding women, though I'm sure I could pull off a certain age range of boys, too, because my voice is pitched right enough to do that without it sounding forced. I think if I really tried I could do a little girl's voice (like, something cutesy), but it might sound more fake.
Definitely, especially one of my friends, but I couldn't say which roles off the top of my head.

Definitely want another season of Ouran Host Club.

Honestly? Old as it is now, I'd still love to see another season of Fruits Basket, where they go into the somewhat darker parts of the story like the manga.

I, too, would like another OVA for Hunter x Hunter that deals with that newer manga arc.

Legend of Basara! Be it an extension of the first episodes or a specifically called "season 2", I don't care. I just want more!

Twin Spica could use another season. It doesn't need one though, but I want one.

I wanted another season for Zero no Tsukaima, but I got it, so I'm happy. :)"

This anime if very scary. Try watching this at night!

I have, and I still really didn't like this series. I don't like series that require me to do research projects just to figure out what's going on. I mean, I like a show that makes me think, but this is not one of those series, IMO. It doesn't ask me to think for depth, just for breadth. Also, I didn't care for the way the story restarts itself every 4 or so episodes.

To people who did actually like it: more power to ya. Hope you enjoy the dub that coming out."

"I still remember trying to get people to vote it in for watching at my anime clubs 24 Hrs of Anime marathon. I LOVE this series. Most everyone else was like "Shakespeare? HELL NO! I hate that guy, and I hate all his plays!" Meanwhile I was like "But...but...they make *fun* of him in this show!" But nothin' doin'.

I think one of my most favorite aspects of this series is that they've keep the basic plot of "Romeo and Juliet" (boy meets girl, vice versa, boy likes girl, vice versa, can't be together), but beyond that and the names, it's an entirely different retelling. I can't remember the last time I saw an anime series be so good at showing so well such an innocent romance between two young people. Sometimes I find myself thinking "I hope they get to be together in the end!" only to immediately remind myself of what I'm watching (to which I always reply "Awww. Dammit."), you know? :)

Another thing I like about the show is the music. Especially the contrast of the opening and ending. They are so completely different, and yet they both capture the nature of the show. I love singing along to the opening. ^_^ The music at the end of episode 7 is probably some of the best scene enhancement I've ever seen done by music. It was just so well placed, both in timing and lyrical match.

Anime Discussion:Naruto Shippudden

"I really like the new Shippuuden series. Starting from the beginning and working my way through, the first thing I liked was the physical character development. I mean, not only are the new outfits really awesome looking, but the characters are perfectly aged (but hey, that's the Japanese attention to detail for you...) Like, Naruto's hair isn't as wild and bushy as before, and his face even looks leaner and more mature than his younger one. And the opening was really great. Probably one of my favorite Naruto openings so far; top 3 at least. ^_^

But what I liked a lot wasn't just the new stuff, but it was also the old stuff. I mean, I liked Naruto for a reason, and it makes me happy that they haven't made something *completely* new."

"I agree about the title. I mean "Kyou Kara Maou!" doesn't even translate to God Save Our King. It translates to "Demon King From Now On" (lit. Demon King From Today).

I actually wasn't too upset with the dub at first, but then I saw a clip from episode 31 (the touching scene with Yuuri and Wolfram after the box, AND THEY TOTALLY RUINED IT; THE MOOD WAS RUINED! I COULDN'T EVEN *MAKE* MYSELF FEEL SAD WATCHING THAT SCENE!

...I'm okay. It just makes me very angry because that's one of my favorite scenes. :P I can only imagine what they did to Greta's voice and all *her* awesome scenes."

"I really like Gakuen Alice, but it kind of annoying how long Naisho Fansubs is taking for their releases. Surprisingly though, another group (though they aren't nearly as good) has picked up the series starting at episode 16. I hope we see some progress, because since I'm still not *quite* fluent in Japanese, watching RAWs on YouTube can only get me so far...

Also, Natsume and Mikan are really cute together. Lol ^_^"

"Geez, what bad timing, joining this forum right after Ouran ended... I love the series, and there's so much I would have blabbered on and on about! Lol.

I saw the last episode several days ago. I was high off that excitment for like, a whole day after that. And then I found the subbed version the next day! I think it was the perfect ending for this series. And...it was just open-ended enough that a second season isn't TOTALLY impossible.
