Yeah, your scan is too blurry and rough around the edges, and your background is too plain. Try to sharpen up the scan, then go to a place like deviantart and download a bunch of GIMP brushes to experiment with. A few new fonts would be nice too."

"This wallpaper was rejected because there were too many JPG artifacts on it when I uploaded it. The solution, apparently, is to "save for web" in order to preserve the quality while lowering the file size. Unfortunately, I don't have and can't get Photoshop on this computer, and lowering the quality in GIMP puts JPG artifacts all over the place.

So, can someone please download this wall, "save for web" it, and re-upload it for me?

"My wall was rejected because of jpg artifacts, which happened when I uploaded it. I was told to "save as web" in photoshop to fix the problem, but I don't use photoshop! How can I save a high quality/low file size image in the GIMP?"

"Can you point out some of the artifacts in specific? Because the original image had a paper texture, and I did a selective blur on it to get rid of it. Then I added a grunge layer over it to make it look rough. I was going for more of a rough look than an old photo look, with the black lines changed to transparency so you could see through to the background."

"My PC is broken, so I'm using an iBook that doesn't completely belong to me. It's my mom's school laptop, which she doesn't use, so it technically belongs to the Buffalo Public School system.

Anyway, I recently downloaded GIMP in hopes of making some kind of art stuff, and I've been practicing. I rarely make wallpapers, but I made one because I want to be able to download wallpapers here. And so, here's what I managed to come up with through experimentation:
