I find Himekami extremely relaxing, currently enjoying Kaze no Johmon.

If you like really smooth jazz, treat yourself to some Keiko Matsui, Hiroshima.

Also...Yoko Kanno has produced some wonderful ambient vibes."

"Hi Friends.

My secret place is not really a secret, but it's the place I love to be more than anywhere else in the world.

As I write, here I sit cross legged in a nice big tub chair before two large LED monitors. All I see is Éclair, as I lovingly drag magnificent shades of pink down her exquisite jaw.... my first attempt at walling. I am addicted.

Right now, I have Janen Burning by Iwasaki Yasunori thundering in my face through 2 X 200 watt Tannoy studio monitors.

Latter on, when it's time for a break, I'm going to watch episodes 7 through 10 Cowboy Bebop.... I love Fay :)

I am in Heaven.

Disipointing animes

"Kiddy Grade.

From the moment I started watching I was hooked...then the unforgivable. They changed the appearance of the central characters, but if that was not enough, they de-personalized Éclair and Lumière to the point where they became totally unrecognizable.

Such an anti-climax, and terribly confusing, we had so many people looking like Éclair at the end of the series the only one who bore no resemblance to this wonderful character was Éclair herself.

Seems to me Keiji Goto lost his way on this 'potentially' beautiful series.

How long did you watch anime, when and how you start

"Hi Everyone,

Frustrated with Hollywood, I started watching Anime about 2 years ago. I was looking for some quality entertainment for my kids and I stumbled on Spirited Away. We watched the DVD on a Saturday night and by the following Saturday I had purchased the Ghibli boxed set.

Now I watch it more than the kids, who incidentally only visit on weekends.

Of course, being on the wrong side of 50, my tastes are a little more mature.

My favourite Anime movies:

Ghost in the Shell
Princess Mononoke

Series:

Amaenaideyo & Amaenaideyo Katsu
Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran
Kiddy Grade

Currently watching...and blown away by Scrapped Princess. I believe, by the time I have finished watching the series it will go to the top of my 'all time favourites list. Awesome story, beautiful characters. Pacifica is the daughter every father wants, the sister every brother needs and the girl every young man dreams of. Stunning.

People Who Don't Like Anime

"I think people do not like anime because they fail to grasp the concept of the 'universal audience' (i.e. no kids, teenagers, adults etc...just people)

For example, Disney traditionally only makes kids movies. We in the west tend to equate 'kids movies' with simple idiotic plots, dimesionless characters and dumbed down.

Now look at a typical Ghibli. Intelligent, mature, complex stories that Disney could never dream that a child would understand.....but they do.

When we make movies for 'people' and not kids, we dont insult a childs intellgence.

Case in point, The Flinstones, The Simpsons and Bugs Bunny....all produced for adults, and loved by kids.

Folks with a Disney menatallity will allways be threatened by anime. They are convinced children are a sub-species and treated accordingly.

Of course I am not referring to the wonderful vision Walt Disney had for his studio, but that dream was lost when he died."
