Trick or Treat by °chanelqueen17 1 month 1 week ago

^nat
After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Suzumiya Haruhi (2009) is so annoying

1 month 2 weeks ago

"Well, for my tastes the first Series wasn't too great anyways; not bad either but some of the hype going round in the internet was largely exaggerated in my opinion (though with 36 I might be outside the target audience anyways)
But so far watching this new Haruhi stuff has only crossed my mind only once or twice (and was dismissed) .(z_z) emoticon "

Berserk Fans Wishes MAY Come True

1 month 3 weeks ago

"A second season would be nice (heck, there's even enough material for a third one) but ain't happening anytime soon (what a pity)
Well, at least no annying filler episodes.

There are some excellent mangas which lack sufficient anime representation (Alita comes to mind)"

"Well, theaching by anime would be an interesting idea. But that anime ain't doing that. Rather, you should already have a rather good grasp on history to find this anime amusing."

Hinata Hyuuga

"For the question of whether dead or just unconscious:

I highly doubt that Pain (or any Akatsuki) would pull his punches.
And in the current situation at Konoha a lot of characters already died (mostly minor, but still...)

Although now, the second of my two most favorite characters is gone (the other was Jiraya)"

Television isnt that what it once used to be!

1 year 2 months ago

"Yeah, especially for elder anime fans the regular TV in germany is rather bleak. Add to that that the broadcasting times are unfeasible for someone who has to work. It's mitigated a bit that the series they broadcast are outside my preferences anyways (well, I stumbled arcross Naruto once and somewhat laughed my ass of for about five minutes at the verbal censorship in the german dub then I switched the channel)
Unfortunately MTV seems to have given up on broadcasting anime and the only other station which at least occasionally showed anime (VOX) did so at very uneasy times (past midnight, dang, I have to work!) and even they seem to have stopped."

Does everyone else hate fillers?

1 year 2 months ago

"Well, for the original question: apparently not everyone hates them (they wouldn't make them or at least that many if that would be the case) and it seems that they still rake in enough profits with those fillers so it pays to do them. Otherwise they might just stop producing episodes for a couple of months until the manga has enough stuff to bring out another season.
But from my personal viewpoint fillers can be as various as animes are anyways. Some are good, some are for die-hard fans of the series and some are ... not even worth mentioning.
For the three ongoing series I'm following:
Well, for Naruto it's basically the gigantic filler they had before they started shippuuden. For about two years mini-arc (5 to 8 episodes) following mini-arc, occasionally sprinkled with a lone standing single episode war very tired. They got better though.
For Bleach, they didn't do several mini-arcs but created a single storyline which they kept throughout the fillers, but I still stopped watching those after a couple of episodes and just take the occasional peek every three or four episodes to look if the filler arc is coming to an end.
And D.Gray-Man has so far the most fillers which I found acceptable (although they still have their share of not worth watching)"

Well paced romance manga

1 year 4 months ago

"Allow me to add Victorian Romance Emma and Ai Yori Aoshi to the recommendations.

The first one is set in victorian era England (hence the title) and is basically about the developing love between a maid and a man from the upper class (and the many obstacles they face) nice read and concluded in 7 books.

The latter one is set in contemporary Japan, a young man (already student at Tokyo U) meets his fiancé (something their families had set up way back, he had already forgotten but she didn't), and some other girls also meddle a bit around.
Sometimes compared with Love Hina, but it stays on a realistic level (no supernatural/weird science stuff etc.) and not as much accidentally stumbling across the girls while bathing/changing/whatever.

High School and Anime

1 year 5 months ago

"Rather than some obsession about youth (although there's also some truth in that) I'd say it's simply the target audience.
With them being high schoolers themselves (or similar levels) it's no wonder that the setting also lands there (and the notoriously mini-skirt school uniforms also help getting some other audience groups, but that's another story)"

Berserk

1 year 9 months ago

"Well, considering that the corresponding manga is still ongoing they did a quite good job in the anime.
Instead of bringing out loads of filler episodes they just ended the show where they (back then) ran out of storyline.
Although it beats me why they never continued the series (the manga has enough stuff for two full seasons, maybe even three)"

Plus, the artwork is not bad either."

Baccano!

1 year 11 months ago

"I second this.

Plus, the somewhat "strange" chronology and the storyline gave me some kind of "Quentin Tarantino"-like feeling.
Although not for the faint of heart (it's on Berserk and/or Hellsing like levels of brutality)"

Done anything stupid to create great deal of PAIN?

1 year 11 months ago

"Well, as far as [i]stupid[\i] things go, I guess I could mention two hangovers...

True, a colic about a year ago and some dental operation back in college were way more painful, but those were not intended unlike the drinking (which led to the hangovers) which was a free (and admittedly stupid) decision."

Eyeshield 21

"Nah, the anime ain't that bad. It's only a bit strange that they do filler episodes while at the same time cutting/censoring other bits, like Hiruma's weapons or like they managed to get the needed money in Las Vegas (could've made almost an entire episode of that but they modified it to Doburoku going to the Roulette table)
Wierd, but somewhat funny."

MAR: Marchen Awakens Romance

2 years 9 months ago

"Well, It's a decent action(fighting) anime (although a bit censored in comparison with the manga), especially the "war games". Only issue is, that around episode 44 there will be a bunch of filler episodes. Not as persistently as the ones in Naruto, they actually intermix the fillers with tournament rounds, but still tiresome.

Oh, and on another note: I was right about the King of the Chess (but I won't spoil it here, heh...)"

Dont you hate it...

2 years 9 months ago

"Well, there are some miniseries (up to 13 episodes, but often less) which indeed leave something to be desired. Often the plot develops somewhat hasty so that there is not much depth to the storyline (boy, I was surprised that Innocent Venus was done after 12 episodes, but around number 8, I already expected it)
Or worse, in some cases they even chop off whole bits of the storyline (Midori no Hibi, DearS) even though in some cases this was done because the Manga wasn't quite finished yet and they didn't want to trouble us with two years of incresingly stupid fillers (konoha syndrome ... *g*) this was the case with Hellsing, Berserk and FullMetal Alchemist. All of them are still ongoing mangas.
Of course, with too extending storylines the anime might loose attractiveness to the audience, so in some cases a pre-cut might be actually helpful (though still a shame with Juuni Kokki...)

Summarized, for my personal taste, a Series with about 25 episodes (give or take a few) ist usually the best: decent story and character development and not too much chewing out of the storyline before it gets repetitive.
Of course, there are always exceptions."

Anime Haters

2 years 9 months ago

"Well, I guess I'm lucky to have no anime haters in my surroundings, only those who are not interested at all. and that's just fine, since everyone has different hobbies and pastimes. They don't bug me and I don't bother.

Only via Internet (in some other discussion forums) I've occasionally met some real haters.

And so far, they all failed to answer my question directed at them: How many animes they have seen on which they state their opinion (well, the answer would be close to zero anyways)"

how to grow taller

2 years 10 months ago

"Well, with being 18, you're already out of luck for your natural growth. Of course, there might be still some left, but don't expect much. A quarter of an inch, give or take some, is the best you can hope for (and that's only if you're lucky), unless you'd really settle for the bone-breaking thingie; but I dunno if the docs in your country would actually perform it 'cuz there are some risks with this method (apart from being time-consuming and somewhat painful)

I'm afraid you were at least 3 to 4 years late for your question."
