After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Frenemies
4 months 2 weeks ago
"We used to have frenemies - people we'd hang out with and end up hating, yes. We started to dislike them for different reasons.Case 1: One of the guys started to like- like me. I tried rebuffing him politely at first, but he kept persisting. It disturbed the others as well because they could see he was being pushy, so we all ganged up on him to chase him away. Before that we tolerated him because he was mostly harmless, and kind of amusing because he was, well, stupid. *sighs* I know that was mean. But anyway, yeah, that's one way friendship turns to hate.
2: Sometimes a person gets into your group and you let him hang around because you feel sorry for him. You reach out to him, actually try to befriend him - but it all ends up as frenemyship because it turns out there's nothing good in his personality, or even his work ethic. The pity disappears, you retract any semblance of friendship, and you hate him instead.
3: The worst kind. You have a friend, a good friend, and for a long time you remain friends. And then for some strange reason (which I don't know), her attitude changes. She becomes extremely rude to your extended friends and to your family members. You don't recognize her anymore. You try to find out what's wrong, but she won't have any of it and actively pushes you away. Resentment breeds resentment, but you keep the frenemyship because you don't know how to stop being friends - when you've been friends for years it's hard to break the connection, see.
Perceived harmlessness, pity, inability to break routines...Those are some reasons why you maintain despised "friends", I guess."

Annoyed at First Sight
5 months 2 weeks ago
"I try not to let first impressions run away with me, though it's true that sometimes by looking at people, I can tell that I won't like them. I don't want to base my opinions on first impressions alone, though, so I usually try to talk to them, or I poke around and try to get others' impressions of them.First impressions are usually misleading for me. Like when I was in high school, there was this one guy who beat me out at writing, so naturally it annoyed me. Then I read his work and had to conclude that he was quite good. We ended up becoming good friends. XD
I also try not to hold a negative view of people, even if they ARE annoying. It's possible for people to change for the better. If they change for the worse, well, annoyance justified; time to move on."

Friendship That Drift Away
6 months 5 days ago
"Oh my, yes, it's happened to me many times. For my part, I prefer it if friends drift apart - as opposed to when friendships are broken by lies, bad behavior, jealousy, etc. Based on my experiences, if friends drift apart, well, you're still friends. Just not as close to each other as you once were. You may not even greet each other sometimes, but there are no hard feelings. I think that's preferable to when a friendship is broken up over fights or other issues; usually afterwards it's very difficult to maintain a civil relationship with them, and often the problem, whatever it is, tends to continue.Of course, you could patch things up, too, but it's difficult. And kind of off-topic. XD
Sometimes it's necessary to drift away from old friends. Like, say, if you move away. You'll have a hard time maintaining contact with them, and you may become sadder and more frustrated because you don't want to let them go. But if you make new friends, it helps ease the pain and boredom a little. The important thing to remember, I think, is that making new friends does NOT mean abandoning old ones - nor does it mean that you're being abandoned."

Ever get a drawing block?
6 months 6 days ago
"Drawing block...Bleargh. When that happens I sit staring at a blank page with my headphones plugged in, music blaring, pencil in my hand, and my mom wondering if I had a stroke or something. XDWhen I really don't know what to draw, I cheat. If I can't think of anything new, I pull out my old sketchbooks, look at the drawings, and I pick one and make a newer version of it. If I want to draw a certain character but can't think of a good scene for them, I pull a concept-art thing out of my earhole. It's an excuse, kind of cheap, but it gets the job done.
If I already know what to draw but CAN'T do it...well, I don't give up. That's what the eraser's for. I look for reference in magazines and comics; if I can't find any, I try changing the character's position, the scene's point of view or perspective, etc. I usually try to work around situations like these instead of grinding on in one direction. Otherwise I come away feeling bullied. XD"

"^ Yeah, Resonance is a great song. ^_^They also did "Heart of Soul", the ending theme of Rurouni Kenshin. Great song, though there's a tapping noise in the background that doesn't quite jive...My fave song of theirs would be "Pied Piper". =D"

The death of stories, or birth of intellectualism
7 months 1 day ago
""How many"...That sounds like a statistic. XD
Anyway, it's more of a mindset: some people read for their own pleasure, and others walk around with their noses in books so that people can say, "Ooh, he's reading Charles Dickens! What an intellectual!" *SIGH* Talk to them about the books they're "reading", though, and it all goes out the window. Sheesh.
I can honestly say that I read for my own pleasure; I always have. Heck, I even avoid books with reviews on the back instead of synopses. I read the back of the book to find out if *I* can enjoy it, not to find out if others have enjoyed it or what they think of it. I can read the book myself, let me form my own opinions.
Looking for good stories in books is a bit of a trial on my part, especially if the authors are all different. More often than not I gravitate to authors I'm already familiar with; I skim the other stories and read them more thoroughly only later. I've missed out on some good stories that way."

"I've always been fascinated by fire, BUT I do not like it. It sort of scares me. Thinking about being burned alive gives me the willies. o_O Water sort of has the same effect on me - in this case, I like it, but it's not a favorite of mine. I'm afraid of drowning. On the other hand, I'm fond of wind - I like windy days, and have always wanted to fly. =D Earth's good, too; it has a secure, solid feeling to it. And if lightning counts, I'd rank that as my favorite. Sometimes if there are thunderstorms at night, I look out the window at the lightning when I should rightly be asleep. XD"

Take Care Of Your Pets. - A Tribute to My White and Kimchee.
7 months 1 day ago
"Very touching stories, PTKPG and bigfatwhale. You guys have my support, too, and I'm sorry your pets died - I've lost pets of my own, too - but I'm happy that, long before that, you were able to take care of them. PTKPG, I think it's great that you were able to rescue them from a terrible life and give them happiness and love. You made their last months happy ones. =)I haven't encountered actual cases of pet abuse, but then I've had a sheltered life. I do remember though, we had a dog once. He was just a mongrel - anyway, he got out of the house, and we were frantic, but we couldn't find him. He managed to come back a few weeks later, but what really shocked us was that there was electrical wiring around his neck. O_o I saw the wiring myself; my brother also claims that there was also a label attached, with the slaughterhouse address on it.
I think good care starts even before you get a dog, or any pet for that matter. =) If you get a dog, even if your intentions are good but you can't provide adequate care, you won't be doing your dogs any actual good. For example, you feed your dog some food - but it's the wrong kind of food. Chocolates and grapes can be fatal, for example. You mean well, but the effects are usually disastrous.
Long story short, if you're ready for commitment to caring for your pet and can handle it in the long run, then go for it if you want. If you can't, then you might as well let the idea go."

being able to give up go "good things"
7 months 3 days ago
"I've always had to have soy sauce to dip my food in: chicken, fish, pork...I know it's not healthy because of the high sodium content. =P I also eat too many sweet foods, usually after lunch or dinner. Probably wouldn't be so dangerous, but my family has a long history of diabetes and hypertension.
I tried giving up soy sauce for a while when I was younger. I swapped it for calamansi juice, then vinegar. It didn't hit the right string. Lately I decided to cut down on it; I don't use it anymore on fried chicken or grilled pork, for example. To be honest though, I'd probably only be able to give it (and my sweet tooth) up if a doctor told me I already had diabetes or hypertension or something. =("

Redundant button pushing

"It doesn't bother me at all. I think it's funny. Sometimes, though, it's worth noting that you DO have to jab repeatedly at elevator buttons - I've been in old buildings a few times where the buttons were stuck; you had to keep jabbing them just to make sure."View
Anime is BAD for you XD
8 months 1 week ago
"^ Nor do I. It seems like something a four-year-old would write. Which, now that I think about it, is an affront to four-year-olds. Even kids know better than to spout off "facts" without proof. ("Yeah? How do YOU know?!")Sorta like this:
Yeah? Then if you can't see it, how do you even know it's there, and that that's what it does?
Just goes to show what an unmitigated piece of stupidity that leaflet was. XD
Regarding the subject itself...I don't believe there's such thing as a morally good or morally bad anime. It's how you react to it and interpret it; in the end you're responsible for your own actions and thoughts, anyway."

Feelings on Armpit Hair
8 months 1 week ago
"I guess it would depend on the situation. Generally, I don't really like having to look at armpit hair (both in guys and girls); I guess it's because I'm rather fastidious and particular about bacteria, body odor, things like that. But I'm not completely against it. I understand that sometimes shaving one's armpits isn't quite a priorityView
how long can you go without your anime fix
1 year 1 month ago
"I can go for a year without anime, maybe more. I mean, it's not like my whole life depends on it. And sometimes, I really can't avoid having to give up anime for a while, like that time when we moved and we had plenty of problems installing cable (we got a satellite dish instead), or during the ends of the high school years, when the teachers would pile plenty of homework on us...Anime's not a big priority in my life, so I can get by perfectly well without it. =)"View
Songs which freak you out everytime
1 year 1 month ago
"I remember when "My Humps" was popular. I hated that song from when I first heard it, and to make things worst, it was popular, so I got to hear it about once or twice a day. HELL-AWFUL. >___<#I also can't stand that song..."The Reason", I think. Can't really remember the artist, either...Ah, but I hated it and I still do. Maybe it's because to me the chorus sounds sort of whiny. o_O
[Disclaimer] This is just my personal opinion. I don't mean to offend anyone, and anyway we all have different tastes...So we'll call it even, hm?"

"Oh my, yes, and while admittedly I'm not too fond of their earlier albums, I start liking them from their album "Leviathan" onwards. :D I'd have to agree with you about the Elysion thing; the song "Ark" from that album was what got me hooked on them. XDI think they're very intriguing; not only do they make great music, the lyrics of their songs are pretty interesting, too - even if it is a pain to try and find them online. =( (As a sidenote, can anyone tell me the story of "Ark"? I wasn't able to get hold of the doujin that supposedly goes with it; even a brief summary would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know where I can find transliterations and/or translations for the lyrics of the Leviathan album? XD)"

EWW,Don't touch me!Go wash your hands
1 year 2 months ago
"In my case, whether or not I'd mind being touched would depend on the person and the situation. For example, if a good friend of mine slung his arm around my shoulders I wouldn't be repulsed...But if he's been drinking and he does that, I'd shake him off. Not only would he be smelling bad; he'd also be mighty heavy. XDWell, I'd not quite do that, but I'd shy away from the person instead and remind him (pointedly, I'm afraid) about his personal hygiene. I'm rather prone to colds myself so I guess I have some grounds for worry. XD
Haha, as a sidenote, upon meeting someone - including a relative - I'd rather shake hands instead of kiss the person on the cheek. I read somewhere that more germs can be transmitted by kissing than by handshaking. I don't know if that's true, but I don't want to find out firsthand - and it's a good excuse for refraining from having to go too near people you don't like!(_/).."

Yeah, I think I was looking for wallpapers for my PC and anime scans with which to make avatars, and I stumbled onto this site and joined up. =)Real-life-wise, I don't have much to do with this site. Ethics in Mexico

"I can relate to the school and the donkey thing. See, here in the Philippines I don't live in the capital city, and it seems that people there in Manila - SOME of them; I'm not generalizing here! - still think we go to school on carabaos (water buffaloes) and sugarcane carts and all that whatnot. I think it's actually quite funny. XDPut it off as ignorance or curiosity, or both. You said they ask you if you go to school on a donkey...Well, at least they have the decency to ask instead of saying it outright. Look upon it as an opportunity to, erm, enlighten them. XD Curiosity satisfied, situations clarified, problems solved. =)"
