Manners?

3 months 2 weeks ago

"Well, I see what you mean about being annoyed with people who have no manners whatsoever, but I think friends who talk to each other a lot and whatnot should be casual with each other. I'm not a very formal person and often appear rude to certain people. I'm hardly ever formal with people, even those I don't know too well, but I try to keep up very basic manners.

I guess it all really comes down to what you define as being rude or lacking manners, but I think as long as you greet people with a hello and say thank you, you're not a total loss.

I wish I could be more formal, but it's just not in me. I do try though."

Season 2!

3 months 2 weeks ago

"I didn't see how this could meet my expectations AT ALL. I'm a huge Code Geass fan and have been anticipating the premiere of R2 for, well, since season 1 ended. The cliffhanger ending was disappointing, yes, I know how all my fellow Code Geass fans feel, but this episode MORE than made up for it.

First, you have the AMAZING OP "O2" by Orange Range. They manage to (flawlessly) fit almost every character in. There's no way not to like it. The episode starts off strong with some slice of life style comedy, concerning Villetta chasing Lelouch around school and winding up injuring Rivalz. I don't want to post any major spoilers, but the introduction of Rollo was really natural and flowed wonderfully with the episode, I can't wait to see more about his character and what he has to do with Lelouch. I don't think they're REALLY brothers, even though they do look alike. It'll be interesting to see how they develop his character.

I was hoping for more C.C., but it DOES seem like she'll have more screentime in the later episodes.

Overall, awesome episode. Can't wait for more."

Girls with short hair

4 months 4 weeks ago

"I personally think girls should be able to have whatever hair style they want. ^^ And like a lot of people have already said, it depends on how the girl looks, shape of head, etc. We're all individuals for a reason, we're all supposed to be different. It'd be boring if we all looked the same.

Some girls look better with short hair, others with long. That's all there is to it, really."

Do you listen and trust in your parents?

4 months 4 weeks ago

"Yes, I do. I'm lucky to have a really good relationship with my parents, but I know some others don't, for many different reasons. Some kids are very unfair to their parents, vice versa, too, but I don't like the high and mighty attitude kids often give their parents.

I think modern day youth is very disrespectful to their elders, and it's quite a shame, in my opinion. Not just to their parents, but their elders in general. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. I think kids are just more "informal," and that leads to rudeness.

Actually, you could say it's a decline in the way our society as a whole functions, but it also doesn't help many adults don't understand the way youth is working nowadays. The culture since they were young has changed incredibly and it's easy to understand why they're lost with things like computers, ipods, etc. and other modern day youth culture. Things have changed considerably since they were young and it's difficult for them to connect with kids.

Young people just need to have patience, lots of it. Patience and understanding is key. I know it's hard, but you just need to work at it and try to understand your parents more. It's definitely worth it."

Yoko Approves!

4 months 4 weeks ago

"Well, I prefer plain walls to those with a lot of effects, so I really like this one. <3 emoticon

I like the colored lines and cute expression. I also like how you made it very large and saved as png (jpg vectors = auto fail). Some of the lines do look wobbly, but that can be edited easily if you still have the original work file.

I think you should look for some high res Yoko pics (maybe similar screenshots in 1280x720) and use those as reference for enhancing the detail a bit. You could add more highlights to her eye, for instance. When it comes down to it, detail makes all the difference in vectors.

You're doing great so far though, keep up the good work."

Is 24 hours a day still enough for you?

4 months 4 weeks ago

"I definitely agree with wishing we didn't have to sleep. So much of our life revolves around sleep without our being aware of it, even our bedroom is called a "bedroom" because of the bed. We wouldn't need that bed if we didn't sleep. How wasteful! But what can you do?

Days seem like they go so fast to me, time is never on anyone's side. I'm always going crazy trying to find time for things. I'd love it if there were more hours, it would give me more time to just take a breather and not rush around everywhere like I'm...being chased by a wild bear, you know? Life is so crazy, you're always rushing and trying to find time for things that should be simple.

In my opinion, 24 hours isn't enough. I don't know what would be enough, but it should be more than that. If just to stop all the horrible rushing I've grown to regard with scorn. I don't know if it'll ever happen though, as most other people seem to be okay with 24 hours. I don't really know how though... Maybe it's just those with crazy lives, but it totally seems like we need more hours."

[Anime Discussion] Darker than Black

4 months 4 weeks ago

"Darker than Black is a very deep, intellectual anime. Sort of on the level of Lucky Star, but not quite. They're both very intelligent, but in different ways. Darker than Black is a very collective anime, aware of its own intellectualness and it takes itself very seriously. It almost seemed like they should've had a random bear pop out from nowhere every now and then just to lighten it up a bit. In this case, think of the "bear" as a bit of light comedy, which Darker than Black totally lacked. It was always serious, hardly ever imersing itself with that bear. It always kept itself on a serious track, it got kind of depressing at times. Maybe if it had been more open to letting that bear in, it would've been able to draw in more viewers and wouldn't be one of the most underrated animes in a long time.

I can't really think of many other anime that don't have a "bear" like that, to lighten things up every now and then. Darker than Black tried to do that with the character Gai. They tried to make him Darker than Black's bear, but I don't think it worked. It still kept its serious aura.

If you don't mind something incredibly serious without a bear popping up every now and then for some laughs, Darker than Black is an amazing anime. You just have to accept the bear you're used to isn't coming and the intense atmosphere never lets up."

[Anime Chat] Lucky Star

4 months 4 weeks ago

"You can always tell the maturity of an anime fan by their appreciation of Lucky Star. Newer fans who only watch anime like Gurren Lagann and whatnot probably can't appreciate something with so many otaku references that were aimed at Japanese fans. Older, more mature anime fans understand such clever references (really, there's no way to count them all. There are so many and they're all difficult to recognize if you haven't been a frequent anime watcher for quite some time.

I really love KyoAni (Kyoto Animation) and Aya Hirano, so I was interested just for them at first. But Lucky Star is so much more than another generic moe anime. It's a way of life for some. The anime that saved anime. There haven't been too many good anime in past few years, but it's almost as if Lucky Star breathed new life into the genre. It's that good.

I would recommend it to any true anime fan as obligatory viewing material, because they will surely be able to appreciate it. Maybe a lesser fan will enjoy it for the cute girls and Aya's amazing, angelic-like voice, but only a person who's been anime fan for quite some time will really be able to enjoy it to its true extent."

Has technology making us lazy?

4 months 4 weeks ago

"You know what? To be honest, no. I think life is actually easier without them. I remember as a kid a phone my parents purchased. It was very basic, big numbers, easy to use, etc. Compare that today with a standard cordless , digital phone that most people have. You need a five page manual just to understand how to set the time on the stupid thing. Back in the old days, things just worked. There wasn't a need to fool around or play with stuff just to get it to work. Everything was much more simple.

Nowdays, with computers and cell phones, it's totally different. I wonder if it's changed for the better. I enjoy technology as much as the next guy (maybe even more), but is there really a need for most of it? Is there really a need for it to be complicated? It's a shame we had to give up the simple life this country once had just for the sake of "progress."

I love much of the things new technology has brought us, with the good and the bad, but some times, I want to return to that simple time without email and large manuals for phones. It some ways, it seems better to me. Maybe I'm just crazy, but it does."

Computer or Laptop?

4 months 4 weeks ago

"I definitely believe it depends on how much you use your computer, and how much you're away from home. For some people, laptops will certainly be more helpful to those who are often away from home or traveling. If you're home a lot more and can easily live without your computer, a desktop computer would probably suit you more.

Some people also have difficulties with the "mouse" feature on the laptop, but you can get a real mouse for it and just use that.

In fact, I prefer my desktop computer for many reasons, but I wouldn't mind getting a laptop one day. It would be handy to be able to bring it out into the living room or in the car one day. But it might also be rather awkward, too. Hey, I don't even like carrying my walkman (I still use a walkman, ahaha) because it just seems "awkward" to hold that stuff. I guess I just like going lite.

Definitely desktop computers are for me. "

Higurashi Live Action Movie

"I don't know what to think yet. Keiichi looks nothing like I would've imagined (in fact, none of them do, but hey), Rena is friggin' GORGEOUS, Mion is... kinda average. Bit of a disappointment there, and I think Rika and Satoko should be younger. Much, much younger.

I think it could still work, but the acting will have to be really good. I'll definitely watch when it's out though. =D"

[Anime Discussion] Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

4 months 4 weeks ago

"I just watched the first season recently and was blown away. Totally blown away. I'm so sorry for not watching this ages ago when it was first airing, but I don't know if I would've been able to wait for the episodes to come out! Honestly, I'm also somewhat glad I marathoned it. After the first arc, it gets really addicting. I finished it all in about 5 days, it was difficult to stop watching.

The music is all really good and fits with the creepy atmosphere. Some people don't like the art, but I got used to it after a few episodes. I didn't find it really that "gorey," more psychological. I can see why it isn't everyone's cup of tea.

I definitely won't forget it any time soon, it REALLY left an impression.

Shion is probably my favorite character. Her arc was so awesome, I really felt sorry for her. I'm still watching Kai, but I hope she gets more screen time soon. Definitely an interesting, underrated character."

Will you change yourself for just ONE person?

4 months 4 weeks ago

"Hmmm, I don't think people ever really change. They might act differently around certain people who point out particular faults and try to disguise them better, but have they really changed at all? I don't think so. Most people don't really embrace change as much as they could enough to really be affected by it.

But that then begs the question, if you ACT differently, do you then become different? Do your actions then begin to affect your personal thoughts even when you're not by the person you're trying to change yourself for? Basically, if you start to act a certain way, if it's a lie at first, do you then start to become "that way" without knowing it? It's certainly possible for some people. Maybe those who aren't very strong willed, but I don't think it's possible for most.

If someone really loves you, I think they should just accept who you are, no matter what. You should always be considerate of other people's feelings and try not to annoy them with certain annoying aspects of your personality, but if they really love you, they can accept they might not always see eye to eye. I think that's what love is all about."

SUSHIiiiiii ^^

6 months 3 weeks ago

"[quote]I like sushi because it is such a simple meal. anyone can make it if they have the fresh ingredients. but if you were to go to a restaurant and order sushi i suggest sitting up at the bar where you can see the chef make it. it's fun watching the guy slice up seafood and prepare it. also a must is to try and find a sushi restaurant with a rotating conveyor belt. the ones where the chef would put the orders on plates and put it on a rotating belt that would circle the length of the restaurant and you would pick up what every you fancied. sushi just seems to taste better when you get to grab it off a rotating belt. mental fulfillment.[//quote]

This is so true, sushi restaurants are the best. The people, the atmosphere, clothing, everything. You're totally right on.

If you haven't been to a sushi restaurant yet, you should go. It's such a fun time."

Watching Anime:English or Japanese

7 months 3 days ago

"In most cases, Japanese with English subs. An exception would be Cowboy Bebop, I love the English dub and I just got used to the voices. Now the original VAs seem out of place, go figure.

I guess it depends on the version you see first as well and how much you enjoy the voices. For instance, the English Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya dub is completely unwatchable to me. The original Japanese VAs all did an exceptional job, so it feels...awkward listening to the dub."

other peoples grammar

Sure we all make mistakes, no one is perfect. It does bother me if feel like people are going out of their way to type incorrectly. Its hard to understand, and is just plain annoying so see all that public schooling go to waste.

Agreed. Minor errors and mistakes don't bug me, but chatspeak and lack of basic punctuation do. It's annoying when you have to run half of someone's post through urban dictionary just to figure out what the hell they're talking about."

Do you tell other people, that you like Animes ?

7 months 3 days ago

"
Depends on who I'm talking too. If they are someone who I know and actually spend time with yea I tend to tell them if it's someone who I only see on occasion, I don't tell them straight up generally but I don't try to hide it either

Yeah, I'm the same. Most of the people I talk to haven't actually watched anime, or have just seen DBZ, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc. and think they're all the same. It's incredibly difficult to convince people otherwise when they're really that stubborn about something they haven't paid attention to, so whatever.

I try to bring up common interests when talking to people and anime usually isn't one of them. If someone asks or brings it up, I certainly don't deny it though. There's just no point in bringing stuff up that people don't understand."

Fate/stay night

"
True-Darcness
It's such a cool anime. Only problem is that it leaves a lot of background information, though it does give hints which can fun on the second time around. To fully understands this series, it needs to be wikied after 1 run through.
Or you could play the game. There are plenty of other sites with information, too, like the Moonlit World.

It's hard describing how surprisingly complex Fate is to other people who haven't yet watched it. They all think "Well, it's based off some h-game, what exactly is there to know?" when it's actually very difficult to fully comprehend if you haven't played the games or read the summaries. It's a shame the anime left so many important details out ("So...They're SISTERS? Buwah? Where did that come from again...?"), but it's still very good if you don't mind doing a little tedious, extra information hunting after watching it.

Of course, a lot of people don't want to and let that effect their judgement of the anime as a whole. I can totally understand it, some people don't want to have to read a bunch of stuff to understand one anime, I've been like this with plenty of stuff. I definitely believe Fate is worth it though. So many different arcs and time periods, diverse characters, it's very involving once you understand the main storyline."

"I love the background and the picture of Ayu, that hat is so... cute. I wish I had one like it...

I think it would look much better if you took out the butterfly on the right hand side, or cleaned the edges on it up a bit. The one on the left is very well extracted, but the one on the right isn't. It kind of distracts from the rest of the wall.

The light effect is gorgeous. I love how Ayu's black & white while the rest of the wall is colorful. Good job."
