Trick or Treat by °chanelqueen17 1 month 2 weeks ago

^nat
After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Valentine

9 months 1 week ago

"Ah pointless misery...

Never ever had a reason to celebrate valentines in all 20 years of life, the only one who's ever loved me on valentines was Jesus, wretched Christ groupies and their cards.

I "romatically" went to the pub with a couple of chums, after they'd finished with their spouses.

I don't think it can be said that valentines day has ever been non-commercial... it's basically a day on which your spouse will expect to receive expensive gifts or think you don't love them because society says it's a day for which things should be bought en mass for loved ones."

Small things that immensely piss you off?

9 months 2 weeks ago

"None of those are small.

They're generally things anyone should be expected not to do, out of common decency. I tend to feel somewhat revolted when I see people not washing their hands when leaving the men's toilet, though I wouldn't consider such a flagrant act of poor hygiene that small either... also boredom gets to me quite a bit to the point of madness."

Microsoft to release six versions of Windows 7

9 months 3 weeks ago

"Hmmm...

Ultimate will likely have nothing particularly interesting or money worthy for the non-commercial user, were I to upgrade it would be to home premium like my current Vista install, though I don't plan to anytime soon.

Considering quite how much an OS does... the expense is relatively justified really, if the CPU is the brain, then the OS is the mind of the computer, so quite a vital component."

Solid State Disk

"I've currently got an OCZ one in my desktop.

A 30gb one containing my Vista boot and the vitally important bits, then a 500gb drive with my games, video, pictures and documents on it, seems to be working out pretty well. Though I can't vouch for their speed over HDDs as I didn't have vista before upgrading and thus never saw it boot up on a HDD but it doesn't take particularly long. Also there was a mixup with the packaging and it seems I got a better 30gb one than was advertised :D."

Do you think anime is bad influence?

As much as anything else we choose to do between now and inevitable death so you may as well pick your own procrastination."

Tytania

10 months 17 hours ago

"Erm... I wouldn't really...

Well Gundam was centered more around large robots blasting the crap out of each other and other things, this is more large set fleet engagements, no mechs involved. I'm sure there are inevitable similarities between this and other anime with space ships in it, but I prefer not to judge things over originality in a world where all things have been done before. I believe it is a good Sci-Fi space operaish anime in it's own right."

Metalheads unite!

"I think I'm a metalhead...

But I have no idea under what classification the metal I enjoy would come under, and it probably wouldn't seem all that metally to a full metalhead, things like 36 Crazyfists, Mudvayne, Trivium, Eighteen Visions and Disturbed, one's that are heavy, yet still have lyrics for the most part.

I don't have any plans to go any festivals sadly... I've never actually been to a proper live show of a band before, which is a pity... :(.

Tytania

10 months 2 days ago

"Greetings...

I have been watching a relatively new anime called Tytania with a friend of mine, and think it is quite decent. An interesting plot, with good animation, especially the space battles, and intriguing characters. Sadly it's only on it's first series, and the next one will likely not be watchable for a few months, which is somewhat tantalising...

Is anyone else following or has watched/is watching this and has any opinions good, or bad, of it?"

University?

"I do IT at University here in England.

It's better than starting the nine to five slog before death, I'll give it that, though I can't say I enjoy my course tremendously, but then again, I enjoy little tremendously. I don't do that much programming though to be honest, nor do I like it particularly, but for my course I've done C, C++, VB and some SQL, but that's little compared to what Computer Science people at my uni do. Programming Languages

"I've studied C, C++ and am currently doing VB and SQL.

Personally, I can't stand programming at all... probably due to the ineffective teaching methods in place, with each language I've done, they teach you the basics, then when moving off the basics, don't teach you at all, just task you with exercises but don't show you at all how to do or even approach them."

do u think barack obama will do a good job in america?

10 months 2 weeks ago

"The most evil man alive!

I'm betting that he's going to be amazingly evil and destroy America as you know it (I'm not American), though that wouldn't take much as it's already a tad screwed up as highlighted. With great charisma comes the power to make any amount of people do exactly as he wants and make them think it's what they want, remember who also came under the guise of change and who's greatest attribute was his charisma, not to be too over dramatic, but Hitler.

I'll put money on him being a corrupt and power hungry spin doctor, it may be an outside bet, but it would be wonderfully ironic and a repeat of history if it were true. Probably not great for Americans though...

Also... I wonder if comparing Barack Obama to Hitler causes offence...

Upgrading Slightly

"Well, I've done it now.

Upgrade completed, it's all shiny and wooshy, I decided that I didn't really want the XP boot after all, but the dual boot did work fine initially by simply installing the new OS on to the other hard drive and starting it up. Thanks for any advice given, whether it proved useful or not."

Top ten things learned

10 months 3 weeks ago

"Hmmm... probably a list-fest but...

1. No matter how many bullets and swords pass through someone, it's actually a guy rolling dice in the background that decides the outcome to fights.

2. All of lifes problems can be solved by repeatedly tapping A.

3. Beat someones face in with a baseball bat in life and you're a murderer, do it virtually and you're a gamer.

4. Painkillers can cure any ailment.

5. Shooting someone in the head doesn't neccesarily kill them.

6. People can't start fights with you in you're in public areas.

7. If you kill every animal you come by, one of them may be carrying loot.

8. When the skies clear from the nuclear holocaust, the only things left will be cockroaches and naked women.

9. Murder is perfectly fine in sanctioned areas.

10. Evil is defined by tattoos and facial hair, almost as much as evil acts themselves."

life is a game ?

10 months 3 weeks ago

"Life is a really unenjoyable game.

The plot is non-existant, the gameplay is... terribly mediocre... it's repetetive and unintuitive and has few interesting features as opposed to a spattering of mini-games. Life is like a freeform game that only has good graphics, sure it's shiny, but below the surface it is a shallow and pointless experience. After the initial dazzle, you soon realise how little there is to do inside this pretty environment, that your actions and desires have little or no effect on the scripted world you're in, and sometimes you want to stop gaming, but you can't."

New Years Resolution

"I tend not to bother.

If there's something that needs to be done, like stop eating unhealthily and exercise to avoid disease and death, then I'd go ahead and do it rather than waiting for a new year to start... and in terms of general activities like learning something, I also wouldn't wait, I'd just go straight ahead if I cared that much.

So I have no particular things to resolve that I haven't already decided not to resolve beforeheand..."

Alter Bridge

"Alter Bridge is awesome.

Can't get enough of them, I love their album Blackbird, every song is brilliant on that album rather than having any songs that you listen to simply because they're there, really need to get their other album though. I've been listening to them for a good while now, their songs all sound very... intense and clear, and the lyrics make vague sense unlike some bands."

780i AND QUAD CORE 6700

10 months 3 weeks ago

"Hmmm...

Well the 780i is the chipset so it depends on what motherboard it's attached to but the Q6700 seems a decent chip.

Generally I've found that a single good graphics card with the new gubbins (shader models, DX, etc) suffices, as not all games are made to take advantage of more than one graphics card anyway. Unless by SLI you meant Nvidia, in which case ATI seem the way to go currently in terms of value for money. The "HIS HD 4850 IceQ4 TurboX", if that's the one, seems pretty good."

Outlaw Star

"I'm currently watching it, about 20 episodes in.

I think it's pretty good, quite funny, plenty of action and the animation didn't quite put me off, I wouldn't want to shallowly avoid it due to the limitations of the time. Lots of interesting plots and they don't overuse the grapple ship too much to make every episode the same like some Mecha anime do."

I couldn't stand it :P, it was really really really really dull... and I didn't find it funny... half an episode dedicated to hiccups, really unfunny hiccups... I watched the first 3 episodes and didn't bother to continue. I didn't like it at all... and the die hardest anime fans I know damn me for it.

I preferred Minami-Ke for this genre, that was funny."

The Twilight series...

Quite a waste of 750 pence... didn't particularly like it at all, found it a tad inconsistent and bit dull to be honest, he could at least have had the decency to burst in to flames in direct sunlight, or at the very least take on a grizzly demonic visage... but no, he just looks like someone spilt a pot of glitter on him.

Overall... meh... I'm sure the books are better."

"Hopefully I shall see soon enough.

Though Christmas delays my receiving the hard drive and Vista, but I'm getting it cheap because a friend of a friend works for Microsoft :D. But yeah, according to the tweakguides.com guide to Vista...ness, it's as easy as running the disk in my current OS and selecting the right options to install it to the other drive, so hopefully it plays out like that.

I do of course keep backups of my important stuff :P, but nothing I'm doing should effect the files themselves, as I'm installing it on a seperate hard drive and not reformatting the old one. My "dominant" hard drive is going to be my seperate one reserved for the operating system itself, all ancillary software shall be kept on my large original hard drive, though doubtless some things will leak across despite my best efforts."
