As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

MONEY = everything???

"Completely agree here actually.
I actually have to applaud you here, I don't think I can come up with anything to counter this argument. Very well put there my sir, I tip my hat to this.
In conclusion, I want to wrap up all my quarreling into a point. That point being that, although it is somewhat true that money is not everything, and certainly I will not think so in terms of say, marriage, it is such a nice commodity. I am a man who loves power, and please don't take this as a bad thing, for power is not evil. People who obtain power choose how to use it, so those who let it corrupt them make themselves evil, because something intangible can hardly be evil. Anyway, power is something I strive for, it is why I am VP of the anime club, and why I will run for cabinet of student government in the fall after being a senator for 3 semesters. The power to serve the public and improve the standard of living is a wonderful thing, and so I will strive for it. Outside the university though, one obtains power through money, so if I want to continue to strive for the power I love to have so much, then I will need money. This is why I argue that if it isn't everything, then it's certainly 95% of everything. Also, good topic, lot of good discussion."

Console or PC?

"OH is it. Good graphics for all my anime-related UT2k4 model give me so much pleasure in playing the game. Not many people online can say they got owned by a VERY sexy looking Kasumi from Dead or Alive.
Not for me no. I mean graphics are HUGE for me BUT, I will buy a game like UT 3 (when I build my own comp in a year's time) in anticipation and knowledge that it's going to have some great custom maps and a fantastic selection of mods. This is something that tends to cripple the console industry too in multi-platformers, is the fact that community based maps which can range from pure shit to solid, jewel-crested GOLD (some maps for UT2k4 I played were unbelievable) will never be available for the console versions. Modding is also a HUGE bitch on consoles, even despite the 360's XNA attempts, and absolutely brilliant brilliant mods, like the Jailbreak mod (a mod that was so good it's been made for Quake 2, Quake 3 Arena, UT, UT2k3, UT2k4, and soon to be UT 3) are going to be made for the PC version and will not find its way to console either. This is a point I really want to put emphasis on, because now that I'm 20 and cannot nag my parents to death for games, I have a very limited income on what to buy, so a game has to have a crap-load of play-back capabilities, and buying a game, like say Crysis, which will only be played once by me won't cut it compared to UT 3 (despite the single playing being a chunky pile of crap), because the mapping/modding community is SO strong that the game won't lose it's appeal until two years after it's release as UT2k4 did (I play only rarely now since the online community has shifted over to UT 3 and CoD 4).
Agreed. In the end it's all about picking your battles."

"Does 9 trillion in debt sound familiar?
While this statement does have some meaning I could argue this:
If a man believes money to be nothing that he gives away all of it, he becomes homeless and poor, and will certainly die before the age of 40. Is this acceptable?"

"You are soooooo mis-guided there. 1 Chip + Console + .iso (find on any torrent site) + blank CD = illegal console game. The only problem is companies like Microsoft that have a tough standard to get your console to run on X-Box Live if you chip it, and will personally ban you without refund if you do go online with a chipped 360. This means if you want online play you have to buy 2 360s, so people with limited income won't do this.
On Noir's Thoughts: I agree with mostly what you have said. I think the problem is the fact that the PC's capabilities are expanding way too fast, like you said, the life of a video card is 12-18 months. Once we get to a standard in 3-5 years where there's no point in trying to upgrade PCs because everyone has a terrabyte memory and 3 GB video cards and 8 GB RAM and 12 Ghz processors stock, PC gaming will explode again. As for now the problem is the developers are not given enough time to work on their engines as they'd like and so a lot of stuff is hurried to production. I remember following the development of the Unreal Engine 3 with it's announcement in late 2004, the pre-test of some of its features in Pariah, it's trail in Gears of War, and the beta demo for UT3. It took almost 3 years to make that engine, and now after 4 months of it's final implementation with the release of UT 3, which of course contains Maya 6.0 and UEd 3, we're talking about Unreal Engine 4? This hardly gives any other developers modding time, and so a lot of teams going commercial from the mod making scene, say like the Red Orchestra team, are not getting the chance to because the engines are become too outdated too fast. Once everything settles, PC gaming will take off again, but as for now it's just expanding too fast. The PC market just needs a little collapse in order to build the stack upwards, just like a game of Tetris."

"While this maybe somewhat true, I will agree, but there's some things that people think are not curable unless you have a wad of money.
I'm arguing point by point here. I tell you what, let's not resort to personal attacks and keep to the topic at hand shall we?
My bad I thought I asked you to state and instance that is not fueled by money. Taking this new point on the two Gulf Wars, I'm going to have to disagree. Now I'm not going to push the points, because they're politics, and politics is one of the two major things you don't argue with on a forum, but I will say that (please take no offense to this) your view might be heavily bias based on the fact that you are from a country that did not start those wars (although you did participate in this second one (not sure on the first) so your word has merit none-the-less, I won't discredit you there).
Just sit on that and think about it then. I think you might get the point I was trying to make."

"Maybe you don't understand why people want consoles, hmm probably because some games are console exclusive. Guess that one passed you by. Then there's people like me who don't have a high-powered PC and cannot run games like CoD 4, so I have to buy it for the 360 to play it.
Gears of War is a good example of this actually. The controls for that game were pretty solid for the 360 controller, and when it came over to PC there was no point. Everyone already had CRAP-O 3 and the PC didn't really make the controls that better. Also, Metroid Prime anyone? That had a pretty solid control system, and Nintendo tends to shiver at the mentioning of PC.
They are not a kick-ass company. EA tends to not really care about the games it releases, just keeps releasing the same game over and over again on all-platforms, please see the Need For Speed, Burnout, Medal of Honor, and ALL their sports games. Releasing games on multiple consoles is only a ploy to maximize profits, and for BIG BIG companies like EA, it works. Once the consumer wakes up and realizes what crap they clunk out every year, then maybe they'll care again.
It's really a company-by-company policy. I mean, the PS 3 is not FPS heavy, so of course a lot of FPSes will not find their way to the console. Also, there's the fact that production costs vary in between consoles. The 360 production costs are decent, and the games are not a bitch to program like the motion sensor Wii. The PS 3 is VERY cost heavy though, and it normally takes more time to make a game for it, which is why it is title-lacking at the moment. The PC is easily the easiest thing to make a game for, as it's all C++ and what not. This is also why there's a lot of PC-to-360 and vise versa games because both consoles are running the same hardware/programming.
This is because the PCs that can run things like CoD 4 require a completely different and completely complex engine. The problem lies in the fact that the casual PC gamer has passed onto the consoles now, since they are generally cheaper and do not require any extraneous installs or manual patches. This leaves us hardcore tech followers, who are going to demand HD monitors and a Crysis-like engine, which only drives up the cost and time it takes to make the game.
Well I only spent $400 on my PC and I play some casual games and music and do work on it and what not. However, now that most companies are multi-platforming, it essentially kills the PC market because the console is cheaper and more user friendly. Call of Duty 4 is a great example. My $400 PC cannot play it, it just can't handle it, but for the same $400 I can get a 360. This makes it much much most cost-effective to buy the 360 and the game and play it on there."

"I'm still allowed to pass a verdict on it.
No no no no no. I'm not the one to jump in and out and waive the "crap" banner, but I do not own a PS2, so most of the games I've played have been at friends' houses pulling all-nighters or just ripping through it at my time there. Now I think I can judge the game after playing pretty far deep into it. I think I'll quote Yahtzee on this one when he says: "While declaring a game shitty because of the first few hours is perfectly ok and completely professional..." The only difference is it's not a first few hours as opposed to about 1/2-3/4s the game."

"While you make a good point and I agree with the story element, I disagree with MGS3 being a good example of it.
I would argue these are also poor examples of story.
These are good examples. Also, if you've played Bioshock, then I highly recommend it's predecessor: System Shock 2."
