Actually, I have a 75 dollar R607. Its only 4.1 MP and fits in the palm of my hand. :)
I WISH I had an expensive camera, like a Canon Rebel or a really nice Nikon. :/ Once I am old and working I can maybe concentrate on something like that. ^_^"

Reasons for being a parent?

"If you find more fufillment in helping other children, instead of spending your money on your own child, then go for it! But really, the two are not mutually exclusive. You can have a child, and you can also help other children. My aunt has two children (one her own, and one adopted), and she also runs an orphanage to help other children. Reasons for being a parent?

" I think what it comes down to is yours and my definition of selfishness. What it seems is that you define selfish as anything that you gain any sort of benefit from. But I dont define selfishness that way at all. Selfishness, in my book, is defined by an act that is done SOLELY for the purpose of self pleasure. Selfish motives mean that you dont care about anyone else or anything else in the situation except yourself and what you want. Your list of items if you take them each on its own, and then make that the ONLY reason to have a child, ends up being a list of selfish motives. But in reality, its definetly flawed because nobody has children based only on ONE reason. Even if you took all those reasons and made them all reasons together to have a kid, many of them are positive goals and have the interest of the child in them. If you have a child, and love it and a raise it well, with it's interest in mind, then nobody can label you selfish. You just arent. If you are a good parent and such, and happen to have a cute baby, have a family, raise that family, be a good parent, pass on your possessions to them, bring more happiness and light into the world, perpetuate the species, and have it be a unique and enriching experience in life, then POWER TO YOU! Nobody can tell you its wrong not to have a baby, since you can label that as selfish too since you're doing it because you dont really have a reason or desire to take care of one, and therefore are serving yourself to do what you want.

But that goes back to the rule that everything you do is selfish.

If you dont want a baby, then dont have one. But really, dont take other people's reasons for having children and bash them to make your reasons for not having one more convincing or viable in a conversation.

Im glad my parents had me and I am really glad I exist today.
And It probably wouldnt matter at all to me if they didnt have me since I wouldnt exist then.
But I did happen, and we both benefitted from it.


But having lived with my parents and them passing on their love and knowledge and care, no matter what their reasons were, a family is a good thing in my eyes. It was wonderful for me. And it was wonderful for them. So if both sides are equally beneficial, then what is wrong with having a child for any reason? Nothing. :)

If they never had me, I wouldnt exist, and I wouldnt be typing this forum post, nor would there be any memory of me, nor would there be the impact I have on the world at all. And whats wrong with that? Nothing. :)

I suggest your wife just wait until she WANTS one. If she has to look for a reason to have children, then she obviously doesnt really want one. The thing with children is, when you want one, you know. There is a literal biological clock in every woman and it will ring one day. Just dont worry about it until then. You're not selfish for having one before or after your biological need to reproduce kicks in or never having one at all."

Land or Sea? Which do you like best?

"The ocean is very beautiful but I think it definetly lacks the variety and population that the land boasts. I love people and I really like to be able to travel to see the accomplisments of those cultures all over. The ocean is just a big expanse of peaceful nothingness. It nice to be out on the open sea now and again, but I personally could not live the life of a lone sailor."

"I joined animepaper because I really liked the design of the site. The thumbs were big, the layout was clean and the navigation was easy to traverse. It wasnt loaded with features you didnt need and it doesnt have a large elitist population. The mods and admins are easy to contact and very helpful as well as mature. "Well, I would start off by finding cleaner lined twirl brushes. The ones you're using around the right side tend to blur on larger brush sizes. Also, I think the scanlines across Haibane look out of place in this very flowy, non-tech wall. :)"

"From looking at it and NOT reading the others' comments[which sometimes influence what I say. x( ]. I have some positive points and some negative points.

First off, the extraction is very clean. Good work! But the scan it self is dull and has a light grain to it. You can easily clean that up by duplicating this layer and then setting it to 'Overlay' or 'Soft Light' after lightly adding a gaussian blur. In a mostly clean scan like this, its easier and just as effective and a full revectoring job. '

Second, i think you can do more with the background. Background elements are very important since they're the part that display your part of the work on the wallpaper. Adding a foreground also helps make the scan a part of your work instead of the other way around. Try devising a scene instead of a random abstract graphic and then work on each element of that scene and slowly piece it together. :)

Not sure if you were talking to me. I dont think that would limit leeching. I personally would not mind paying papers over and over to download it over and over. I mean, you're still transferring data, even if its the same image...

I just want to keep track of the ones I like. Just a list. I guess I could make something on my own to do that..but it would be nice to have it integrated with the site."

"I know here on AP, I find a lot of scans that I really like. However, I move from computer to computer and its a pain having to email myself the scans everytime I leave home. Is there anyway we can keep a scantracker on here that worked something like a favorites list? Except it doesnt show on your userpage, it doesnt have any effect on the popularity of the scan(i dont think anything does anyway right?), and its just a url listing under one of your user preferences. This would help me very much, and could possibly help others keep track of the scans they use or plan to use so they can also credit the scan submitter. :)"

"I must say, kudos on nicely extracting that manga image!
I see two major things that you need to work on. The background has some lovely colors but its very very grainy. Try using a photoshop smoothing filter(I suggest gaussian blur) to help that part of the image have more flow.
Also, the faded manga image in the background is really over-stretched. Try finding an image that is originally that size instead of stretching it. It's too low quality when stretched."
