This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

What would you do if...

"Well, I used Britney Spears and other celebrities as an example, but your idol doesn't have to be someone famous. I really look up to my parents, and if they were to do something terrible, I'd be pretty broken up and would probably have a tough time trusting them in the future. "View

"If you saw your hero, the person you idolize or look up to the most, doing something completely illegal and wrong... what would you think? There are SO many celebrities and sports stars these days who get caught doing drugs or steroids, drinking and driving, or mistreating their kids and families, I'm curious as to what you think of them. Would you be upset if you saw your favorite celebrity drinking and driving or doing something else illegal?
Personally, I lose all respect for celebrities who set a terrible example with their bad behavior. People like Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears make me angry because they think their celebrity status will let them get away with misbehaving and endangering other people. "

"Ok, if you could create a type of gadget or gizmo that could do -anything- you wanted it to... what would it do and why?? Would you make a robot that could get you a soda whenever you want one? Would you try to end world hunger?? Let's get creative! If I could make a gadget that could do anything, I'd want it to be able to teleport the user anywhere they wanted. If you think about it, we spend SO much time in travel from one place to another, it would give everyone much more free time to do what they want! Granted it would kill the auto and airline industries >_> ... but overall I think the benefits would outweigh the damages! XD What do you guys think?"

Pirates of the Caribbean 2

"I thought it was hilarious! I alao noticed that it was a bit darker and more adult, which makes sense now that Disney knows their main audience for the movie isn't children. I'll admit that I was upset that it was open-ended, but I'm willing to wait for the next movie release. My only other gripe is that the humor wasn't as subtle as the first film--you could tell they were trying to make it funny some of the time. All in all, worth the money if you ask me!"View

"Im not living my life by what a book says. I'm just taking some advice from the author--a guy--about how guys think when it comes to relationships. No woman will ever really understand how a man thinks, but this sure does help a little bit. And I have to say, if it keeps me from going through undue emotional pain, why not? It isn't worth that?"View
so who else here likes punk rock and green day?

"Just to note, I never called anyone a poser, nor do I believe you or anyone else is one simply because of your music tastes. Had I wanted to insult you I'd have been far more candid and sharp in my response. All I said was that you listened to more mainstream punk, which there is absolutely nothing wrong with. I also feel that there can be no true definition as to who or what 'punk' is-- everyone has their own personal opinion on the matter. I am also VERY sure that I'm not emo. I dont like the genre of music, the attitude, nor the appearance of many of those who listen to the particular genre of music. And when I speak about hardcore punk rock, I'm referring to the bands who are far older than most that many of you probably listen to. Many of them are what could be considered pioneers in the punk music genre-- Sex Pistols, the Ramones, Dead Kennedys, Rancid, old NOFX... if you listen to any of these bands, there is a great difference in both their sound and their message, as they are more intense and political than bands like Blink 182 or even the newer Green Day albums, which some would consider to be pop punk due to their popularity. The only real way for you to know the difference is to listen and compare."

"Ok, for any women in here who have dealt with a bad relationship, had a broken heart over a man, been dumped and wondered why, and are single and don't want to be... I have an eye opening read for you. For all of you men who want to know a bit more about how women think, and what you should and shouldn't do in a relationship... tune in. Some of you have probably read it already, but if you haven't, you should read "He's Just Not That Into You." I also happen to have a download link to the ebook version of it so you can read it for free! I just finished it, and it was like having a bucket of cold water dumped over my head. I was completely oblivious to so much before, and blamed myself for my failed relationships with men. Now I have a new outlook on things, and want to share the knowledge with any and all of you who want it! I feel so much better about myself now!! Happy reading :)Here's a brief description of the book and its contents: "Itâ??s a classic single-woman scenario: you really like this guy, but heâ??s giving mixed messages. You make excuses, decide heâ??s confused, afraid of commitment. Behrendt, a former executive story editor for Sex and the Cityâ??and a formerly single (now happily married) guy who knows all the excusesâ??provides a simple answer: heâ??s just not that into you. Stop kidding yourself, let go and look for someone else who will be. After all, as Behrendt sensibly puts it, "if a (sane) guy really likes you, there ainâ??t nothing thatâ??s going to get in his way." If youâ??re not convinced yet, by all means read this smart, funny and surprisingly upbeat little book, full of qâ??s and aâ??s covering every excuse woman has ever made to avoid admitting to herself that a man just wasnâ??t that smitten with her."

"You guys all listen to pretty mainstream and pop punk... any hardcore fans out there? Don't get me wrong, I love Green Day and I've been a fan since they released Dookie, but now everyone is into them because "punk" is the 'in thing.' I'm more into the hardcore punk scene like Bad Religion or the Dropkick Murphys... AFI is still good, but in my opinion their older albums were superior to Sing the Sorrow. Any thoughts?"View
what do you get after watching anime?
2 years 11 months ago
"Well, it really depends on the kind of anime you watch. If you stick to the cutsey series like Chobits and the like (dont get me wrong, it was adorable and I loved it), chances are you won't take a whole lot away from them. If you get really into series like EVA or Ghost In The Shell, they bring up LOTS of intellectual issues - philosophical, religious, ect. Personally, I enjoy a series that will make me THINK. I also like a series that will capture me emotionally, and make me feel for the characters or the situation they are in. Theres no telling what series that will be until you watch it, so I end up watching a lot of anime when I have time :)"View
eating/diets

"The problem with diets is that no two people will have the same results... there are far too many factors involved to be able to say one thing will work for everyone. The best advice is to cut out processed foods, excess sugars (I cut soda... helps a TON!! Just think about all of the extra calories you consume with things like soft drinks or even juice), and eat more leafy greens and healthy fruits. The food pyramid is crazy if you ask me, because there is no way a person could eat that much and be healthy, especially when you consider how inactive our society is. We never walk when we can drive... everything today is made easier for us. Get out there and get some exercise.. play some sports, take up jogging... anything that gets you out and burning calories will help! Best of luck!!"View
Rap Music
2 years 11 months ago
"Personally, I'm not a fan of rap. If you like it, fine by me... just dont make me listen to it. My real problem with rap isnt that the lyrics are bad, but that rappers are a bad role models for today's youth. I've seen 11 year olds who dress like the rap artists on tv-- they want to be just like them. That means that all of those rap artists who focus on nothing but money and women are giving young people the impression that thats what is important and desireable. Now, not all rappers are like that, but a majority of the popular ones today are. They make women out to be objects, and teach kids that money, cars, drugs, and alcohol are what it takes to be 'cool'. Its much the same with the pop music industry where all of the women are blonde, skinny, and big breasted. Women now see that as the perfect body type, and starve themselves or go through dangerous plastic surgeries to look like a pop star. People put way too much into the IMAGE of music today, and not the music itself."View
dealing with depression.
2 years 11 months ago
"Well... when dealing with depression, you have to take into consideration if its a passing thing, or a more permanent one. If its just a little case of the blues, surround yourself with people you like and do things that make you happy. Even if you don't feel like going out and having fun, its the best medicine for feeling down! If its clinical depression, thats a whole diffrerent matter. I've had a LOT of personal experience with this, as I have clinical depression. It runs in my family on BOTH sides, so I was bound to end up with it, I suppose. For about 3-4 years I had very serious depression... complete with suicidal thoughts, feelings of lonliness and hoplesness, exhaustion/fatigue no matter how much I slept, all of it... I did the therapy thing, which helped a little, but my doctor and I determined that it was more of a chemical problem than one of home life, family life, or stress. At this point, I was so miserable I didn't care how we fixed it, so long as I felt normal again... I was NEVER really happy... just pretending to be. My doctor prescribed some anti depressants, and within a week I was feeling GREAT. I remember when I actually felt happy again... it had been so long that I had forgotten what it was like to be happy - to be normal. So with that said, I'm not against medications for severe cases of depression. You have to do what it takes, because getting back to normal should be what matters most. ^_^"

Stories of ur trips to Anime conventions
2 years 11 months ago
"Are you sure you want to hear my con stories? lol...Ok, I've been to Anime Expo two years in a row.. 04 and 05... and I had a BLAST.
All of the people that I've gone with are fansubbers, and most are 20+ in age. This year, we had people from New York, Texas, Florida, Canada, Rhode Island, and a few other places... and the majority from California... and even one person who came all the way from her job in Japan to stay with us!! It was SO great. Anyway, when we arent at industry panels causing a ruckus, we're usually drinking. A LOT. In 04 we broke out the booze at about 10:30am and ran around the convention center making fun of Naruto cosplayers... hahaha. Did the same thing this year, but there were probably 15-18 of us in our group (not all in one place all the time, tho). Esentially, anime cons are an excuse for all of us to get together, drink, talk and goof off, and sneak new info on upcoming anime series that we're interested in. This year our usual group also met up with some other groups of fansubbers and we went to get chinese food.. i think there were 40 of us. No joke. I'm sure we'd have gotten thrown out of the place if we hadn't had a few people with us who ordered in chinese.
Anyway, its become a bit of a tradition with our particular group of friends, so we look forward to it every year. ^_^"

Chronicles of the roommates from hell...

"Well, there really isnt any way to avoid it (most unfortunately...). The best thing you can do is talk to the roommate in question in an attempt to solve the problem (or leave a mean note filled with curse words like I did ^^;). And the small problems that you have to deal with won't always make your first year of college a disaster. Make the most of it and spend time to make good friends that you can room with when you are a sophomore! :D"View

Chronicles of the roommates from hell...
2 years 11 months ago
"My freshman year was uneventful... my roommate and I got along despite our differences (she was a perky blonde cheerleader, and I'm a punk rocker/nerd/anime fan/artist...) . My only real problem was that she would have her boyfriend over in our room some nights and I could hear things that I REALLY didnt want to hear... you know what I mean.Last year was awesome because I got to choose my roommates, so I roomed with some of my friends who love indie films, video games, anime, and other 'nerdy' stuff. The only problem was one of the roommates, who didn't really take as much of an interest in those kinds of things. I got along with her great because we both love shoes, shopping, and the girly stuff... but she was a SLOB. I'm obsessively neat and clean, bordering on OCD. lol. So my roommates would often leave our living room and kitchen dirty, leaving me to do the clean up after a long day of class and work. I swear to God, I did their dirty dishes EVERY week. I did a little test to see how long they would sit in the sink before any of them bothered to wash their dishes... A WEEK AND A HALF. It was nasty. Sooo... I got mad and left a really pissed off note telling them to clean up after themselves because I was starting to go crazy. Solved the problem for the most part.. lol.
And now I'm at home for a semester because my school is too rediculously expensive to stay there for a semester when I was planning on just getting some GE credits out of the way. My mom tends to make me a little batty, but thank goodness for having a dishwasher in the kitchen!! \o/"

"I think I actually have a mini poster from comicon... I'll see if I can find it and scan it for you. Here is the japanese trailer for IGPX, the music and voices are obviously different because it is in the original japanese.
IGPX trailer - 500kb
According to the people at cartoon network, the music will be changed to more pop/trance/beat based music instead of the orchestral. They do that a lot for dubbed series.. one reason I personally prefer to watch the japanese instead... anyway, ANN has a lot of good info on it, including the english voice actor cast list. There are quite a few good links there, including the one for the trailer that I posted. ANN IGPX page"

Women's Role In Society
3 years 20 hours ago
"Well, this conversation still doesnt bring into context the FACT that women as a whole get paid less for doing the same work as men. There have been tremendous changes to the way women are viewed and treated in the work place and in society as a whole, but there is always room for change. Now, I'm not really in favor of the ERA (equal rights amendment for women) because that means that women would be required to register for the draft as well as a few other things... but I do feel that the United States can improve upon this over time. That being said, I'd much rather fight for women's rights in other countries where they are treated as posessions... where they are killed and beaten for extremely minor crimes. The problem is that no one can force change. It has to happen on its own, and that always takes time."

Is learning Jap for watching anime worth it?
3 years 1 day ago
"After taking more than 6 years of foreign language study, I can tell you that the best reason to learn a language is when you are genuinely interested in learning how to speak/read/write it. The real reason is that foreign languages ARE NOT EASY. I don't care if its spanish or japanese (I have studied both), because it will take a lot of time and dedication to learn it properly. I am very proficient at spanish simply because I have taken 6 years of classes in both high school and college, and I continue to speak it and listen to it in order to retain my vocabulary. If you study a language simply because you think it will help you in watching anime, you might want to reconsider. Studying japanese is very time consuming and not easy by any means. Going from an alphabetical writing system to one of characters is more than a little daunting, and you will need a lot of motivation to stick with it. Since I am very interested in japanese culture and plan to travel there, I felt that studying some japanese would be a good idea. If this is the case with you, go for it and best of luck!!"View

"Hmm... I'm not really excited for this series simply because its not my style, but both cartoon network and production IG have put a lot of effort into this series. Its the first ever collaboration that production IG has done with an american animation studio, so that in and of itself is amazing. Its actually a full length series rather than the shorts that were released earlier, and as I'm sure you can tell, they have made a LOT of changes to it since then. I got to see the first episode of it at Comicon this year, and even though I'm not a fan of mech series, it looked to be pretty good! The animation is awesome, as usual for production IG, and the list of voice actors that they have for the series is impressive. If you watch it, let me know if its any good! I had a friend who worked over at Bandai, and I know he worked very hard to plug this series and get the word out. :)"View
