"I always pray that one day, perhaps in the near infinite future, people will learn that at least HALF A GOOD SERIES is based on presenting the characters, giving how they live their normal life, and only then, after HALF THE SERIES or even MORE, we get the real plot. Obviously, it's hard to tell if a given anime will really have this nice aspect, for that, we have reviews out there =p
That's how it goes with several top notch anime titles. You won't get to care for the characters when "hell brakes loose" if they don't add several episodes before just so you get to know the characters and their emotions beforehand.
That's where titles which start already with the main plot stamped on yout face often lack character development and, though good, you don't feel all that sorry when this or that character dies/suffer.
Shuffle is plain amazing, who would expect that last two episodes *cof* blood *cof* thing out of an harem anime ... Harem anime? the guy decides who he likes the best way before the series end, this is hardly a harem anime. Harem anime for me is those where the character is still as clueless (and perv) in the end as he was in the beginning.
Here for some better review on shuffle, and I hope memories do a good job as well, though I'm kind of skeptical:

"Totally agreed, they often make very rude remarks on some wallpapers specially at session zero. One friend of mine had a wall being made for days, she put a lot of effort into it and was near completed and a moron with ' status comes in an tells it's just a child playing with brushes and looks like a 10 YO kid did that. What's that for? just to make people feel down?
And I mean, there are a lot of rude remarks going on at SZ by members that think they know it all (sometimes even ~ members that are around too long). Also, I think it's funny how ~ members cannot "chat" at the shoutbox without getting some mode saying "the shoutbox is not for this or that", and than a senior/community member comes in and flood the shoutbox with useless stuff and nobody seams to care.
However, let me make this clear, Animepaper is clearly a competition based wallpaper gallery. You have it all: different status, post couting, ranking among all users, top 3 of the day (or actually, top 3 of some random math time, because we can see some walls that are 2 days old there sometimes), top walls of all time, spotlight, highlight, fav-farming, rating (based on obscure download/comments/visits/favs math) of wallpapers. So, how can one really prevent elitism and people trying to rip ideas (or whole wallpapers) if everything is actually AIMED to make people do that? I know very few members who wall here just to get their art done and don't ever come back to read the comments nor care for favs, all the rest try their best to be top of the line, some can't even put 2+2 at Photoshop but they copy and copy ideas and end up comming to something "suitable" that ends up in daily top 3 not because that member is elite artist, but rather elite copy machine xD~
You all know the formulas ... starry sky with clouds and effects, or sketch with design-like background. Go for it and you have a huge chance of getting on top. Some really pretty and ARTISTIC wallpapers that I would definetelly print in A3 and glue to my wall don't even get attention. Art? more like 'let's see who get's more favs!'
Also, let me shout out how annoyed I am that several new wallers get their walls rejected based only on a 1% bad extraction while their work at the background is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. In my opinion, at most there walls should not produce a 100 paper fine because you can see the person put a lot of effort on that but because of a small detail it got rejected (And the user is fined ... not fair). I think fine for bad walls should only apply when a wallpaper is really bad or offensive towards the rules.
There is NO space for begginers at AP, you either spend weeks at SZ getting bashed by old members (and some wallers just quit) or you don't even try. I hope the new Session Zero allows a better progress of new wallers without making them fell like loosers just because they started walling like a month ago while most wallers that get their works accepted have been working hard for a year.
Everyone has to start somewhere, and if a community cannot HELP those starting, and people who are learning need cheering and not bashing, than it's just an elitist community.
If some good waller like koi89 makes a basic mistake, I'll bash him >D he cannot make mistakes >D but a begginer is eligible to make grose mistakes without getting bashed =p"

The idea of not showing the member name on the index/wallpaper lists as mentioned before (don't remember who proposed) is awesome because it would reduce a lot this favoritism based on known wallers (reduce, not solve). My 2 cents? that won't happen and new APv5 features will probably give more features to elite members and less freedom for newcommers only aiming to learn and grow in the community. "

"Although it CAN be removed, the gall bladder has it's uses as bile reservor. It's widelly know that man were once more vegetarian than carnivorous (thus we have small canines).If you keep that in mind, you will find answers for both "useless" organs we have: the gall bladder and the apendix.
To better process celulosis from leaves and vegetarian diet, the gall bladder used to be bigger and provide more bile to be injected as food passed thru the duodenum. It's sole purpouse was to improve vegetal processing. Now that we don't eat that much, it's not quite as usefull. Also, even without it we do process celulosis, only in less efficient way (but back then when we did not have all meals guaranteed, we had to take the most of each meal, so gall bladder was important).
Enters the apendix, which is said to have stored celulosis-based bowels to retain them longer and thus allow better absorption. Since we no longer need all that celulosis, it became quite useless in time, and now it's COMPLETELLY useless (while the gall bladder still has it's uses, though can be removed).
Foreskin and labia are important protective systems, and as such, they might seam useless (since we now live in much cleaner enviroments), but that does not remove the fact they do have an use.
Another important but "can be removed" organ is ... er .. I don't know it's name in english, the one that stored blood (Bace?) if i'm not mistaken it can store up to 1L of blood. It's use is obvious. In case of blood loss, you have some blood stored until you can stop the bleeding. However, as long as you don't need to store blood (don't get into accidents, don't perform rushed operations) there is also no need for it xD~ but I would rather keep mine, you never know when you are going to suffer an accident and bleed a lot.
We also have the amidalas. Not useless, but can be removed, only because we have plenty of redundant spit producing glands on the mouth, though the amidalas also provide a limited protection to the throat.
Other "can be removed" organs also include the sexual organs xD~ though one would need hormones if you removed them.
Ah ... and let's not forget the cox bone xD~ we had tails people!!!111!1 *kills himself*

I got an Hernia operation ... fine. less than 12h later the doctor came to see me off the hospital. So, I lie on the hospital bed with the stupid IV (so I'm kinda locked at the bed would be best described) using only the hospital robe. My mother, father and wife are there.
Doctor enters, WITH WIFE (they were somewhat friends with my mother, so ...), he comes to see me and yay lifts of the robe to see if everything is allright ...... did I mention it was a inguinal Hernia and thus it was well, close to my genitals?

"Which bring us the question, why have a title for an scan, I never know what to put ... the character name? the anime/artist? description of character pose? I think that's why people don't add a title, it's hard to come up with one most of the times xD~
Keywords should be moderated and not fully open. You could allow a number of pre-defiled keywords (the most common ones) to be selected, and than a tag with ONLY the character name, or special characteristic of the wall. If the user fills that incorrectly, it's his/her problem his/her work will not return on searches.
As I said, if they don't fill in the right information, their loss. Though I don't think it's that hard as, while authorizing a wall/scan, for the mod see the incorrect information and correct that. But that's not a must since they already have plenty to do.
About the search, I think people are reffering to search wallpapers and scans thru categories, size, etc... for instance, just widescreen, or just the 1600x1200 ones. And obviously as soon as we have tags/keywords, search by that (kind pointless to have them if they are not searchable xD)

"So I take down the rip off from Kinba.Anyway, I totally agree it's pointless to say statements such as "who came first" or "who inspired whom" since in art everything is about inspiration. If you go to art's school they are most of the time studying famous (and even non-famous) artist styles to learn and get inspiration from that, one might even say that art is actualy teached by learning from what has already been used. True, from time to time someone makes something inovative, but in the end, it's all a ciclic repetition.
No arguing Disney influenced Anime, no arguing Anime influences Disney. No arguing they are one and the same "Animation" except being produced in different parts of the world aimed for different publics, and thus, the even question of who is best or who influences who is silly since we are comparing bread with bread.
However, what I find amusing is the cheer amound of people that wants to give credits for anime sucess and powerfull moneymaking in nowadays, which far exceeds the numbers of western animation, and also far exceeds critics and publics around the world (hei, it was an Japanese the very FIRST animation to ever get an Berlin MOVIE award). What I mean is, Disney came first (by a mere historic coincidence, if Disney never surfaced, animation would surface somewhere else, in Europe perhaps, or even Japan later, who knows), but WHERE does that makes Disney the raw reason why Anime is good?
Why can't Americans accept that something non-American is better?
I live Disney, though I must say I have more Dreamworks animations DVDs than disney DVDs, but I would never be blind to say Disney is better than Japanese animation. I don't even need to compare Disney with Ghibli (some morons do compare them, it's hugelly unfair and quite stupid comparing a near century company with a 20 years old company ... which alread beat Disney in several aspects), I don't need to go to Ghibli to say that Anime is better. Most Clamp, Gonzo, JCStaff, Genzo or even Bandai titles are best than most American cartoons and animated movies.
So please, let's stop with the "Anime is great thanks to Disney", because even if that was true, it's the same as going to the stupid debate that Evangelion invented mecha anime (and we all can quote a dozen mecha animes that came prior to Eva)"

Too many useless javascript binded to css. I think it's the smooth scrooling or something. That's why I think pushing for better compatibility for other browsers is nice, because AP tents to grow LARGER so if it's getting slow now, imagine in a year, or with more features ... gotta start cleaning up code and thinking about end users with slow machines (this afternoon I was at my work's workstation, P4 2.8Ghz, when I posted about the 1~2s lag. Here at my AMD Atlon 1.8 it's more like 30s complete system freeze if I go to the category list and dont stop it as soon as the search box is visible xD)"
