weird stuff you've eaten.....
2 years 11 months ago
"Hmm...I suppose the weirdest thing I've eaten would be jellyfish. My family in Hong Kong used to order it at restaurants when we went out for dinner. The only memory I have of the experience was that I didn't enjoy it much - I was probably too young to appreciate why it was a delicacy. Ditto for shark fin soup, which was a usual feature at wedding banquets - it was always served in luxurious golden soup bowls and eaten with golden spoons decorated with dragons on the handle. I was usually more interested in the pretty tableware than the actual soup.
Ooh no wait! No the weirdest thing I've eaten is actually toad fat. It's used in a Chinese dessert. I don't remember at all but my mum assures me it doesn't taste of anything. " View
Harry Potter: Half-Blood Prince
3 years 3 days ago
"Hmm was just discussing it with my sister. I like the Azkaban-like plotting: tight, fast and a few surprises (but Azkaban is still my fav). I love the back story: we get a lot of answers here and learn more about That Dude.
Don't like the odd pairings (mmm people mentioned fanfiction - definitely feels a bit like JK was fan servicing), Harry's love-life also distracts from the main plot, I feel, don't think she's dealt with it very well this time. Though having said that I think she's developed the other 2's brilliantly. I think somebody else's death would have made more impact than the death of the one who actually dies - the death scene felt rather rushed as well...
I could nit-pick a bit more, but won't, cos it was overall a good read. JK's left more cliff-hangers for us to cling onto till the next book...what I really can't wait to find out are 1) Is the person who died this time really dead and 2) whose side is the Half Blood Prince on.

"Wow.
It was an awesome, awesome day. 10 hours, 10 hours of live music. Don't know about all the other concerts that took place around the world (Tokyo, Berlin, Moscow, Paris, Rome, Barrie, Johannesburg and Philadelphia) but the one here in London Hyde Park was totally out of this world!
People and bands who played: U2, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Madonna, Sting, George Michael, Coldplay, Richard Ashcroft, Dido, Youssou N'Dour, Stereophonics, REM, Ms Dynamite, Keane, Travis, Annie Lennox, UB40, Snoop Dogg, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, The Killers, Joss Stone, Scissor Sisters, Velvet Revolver, Mariah Carey, Robbie Williams, The Who, Pink Floyd!
Incredible or what? My favourite sets were U2 (what an opening to the show!) who did passionate renditions of One, Vertigo and Beautiful Day, and the duet of Sgt Pepper with Paul McCartney. Madonna (she is indeed still the queen bee) got everyone up and dancing to Music, Ray of Light and a gorgeous Like a Prayer - I loved the dance routine with all the break dancing for Music, and wow they all looked so good in white! Robbie Williams' 20 minutes on stage showed how big he was before he went away - the whole park was singing the words to his We Will Rock You, Angels, Feel and Let Me Entertain You. Coldplay, Keane, Travis, Razorlight, Snow Patrol...they were all so so so good live too. Pink Floyd, who reformed especially for this after having split 24 years ago, were absolutely brilliant - man they can still rock!
I watched it all on TV at home; 200,000 (200,000!) people who'd won tickets turned up in Hyde Park and thousands more watched it on big screens set up around the country and billions more could have tuned in around the world.
If this massive massive event didn't raise awareness of poverty I don't know what could have.
Did you watch it? Were you there? Know what the other concerts around the world were like?" View

"Oh ok. Or Korea! I like that idea too. XD
Maybe not even live there as such, just be in possession of a private jet that takes you to your holiday house there whenever you feel an attack of Jap/Korean mania.
Yay to Dias and DK - Why and What are indeed the names of the winged baby elephants and those are statements, not questions, hence the lack of '?' at the end. The original statement probably did not involve elephants, it was a grammar thing I read somewhere a long time ago but couldn't quite recall.

Fav. Disney Movie and Song
3 years 4 weeks ago
"I love Disney animations! Shame really they haven't brought out any more great creations of their own recently.
My all time fav has to be Lion King, the opening sequence still gives me goosebumps. Then...Mulan (yeay Disney does Chinese style), I love the backing music of the scene where she cuts her hair and takes her dad's armour. Pocahontas...love all the songs, love the story. Hmmm..I grew up watching Disney cartoons all the time (on VHS! *feels old*) , hard to pick others out...Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, Cinderella and Snow White cos of the mushy fairy tale factor. You know what, I like them all! Aladdin, Hercules, Bambi, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Peter Pan...and the newer ones like Atlantis and Treasure Planet I like too - anyone else watched them and thought they had a lot of anime influence? Especially Atlantis.
Also loved Bug's Life, Toy Story I+II, Finding Nemo and of course The Incredibles...but they're actually Pixar...
(and, I know, not Disney, but Fox's Anastasia, Dreamwork's Prince of Eygpt and Shrek too!)
Fav songs? Love 'em all! One with particular attachment however is the OP of the Duck Tale's series, I loved Scrooge McDuck when I was still a kiddie in HK." View

He's his stepfather??
Yeah, like chrisbliss says, the actual answer to this is that the surgeon is his mother, but because the family unit now is no longer necessarily mother and father and children, I was expecting answers like 'he's his other father!'

A red house is made of red bricks
A blue house is made of blue bricks
A black house is made of black bricks
A yellow house is made of yellow bricks
