After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Video converter

"I'm keeping track of MMConvert, which is an open source media convertor found on SourceForge. It just went out of alpha and is now in beta, so not all formats/conversion features are supported, but for those that are, it's incredible. Last time I used it, it doesn't work with .avi files (unless it's just my encoder/decoder that's screwing up). So until this thing is fully working, it's okay. For my all-around video converting, I'm using CinemaForge. It's awesome and it works with most video formats. This is the software I use to convert downloaded YouTube .flv files to working .avi files. It may or may not be what you're looking for, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a try nonetheless."

domain name
3 years 2 months ago
"This is more appropriate for the "Motherboard" forum, I think.Anyway, I have a few general tips for choosing domain names that I follow:
1. Probably most important, your domain name should be your site name. The name should be related to, if not, THE topic of your website. That's why AP is called "AnimePaper" and not some other irrelevant entity.
2. A plus would be that the domain name is short and easy to remember. I personally find 12 characters the maximum number of characters allowed for a short, comfortable name in my terms. Abbreviating it to shorten the name may help people memorize it, maybe, but it might not make any sense -- unless said abbreviation has a huge meaning or is the focus of your site.
3. Aesthetics: Hyphenated domain names, for example, look cooler and easier, and I agree, they do. But a hyphen on your domain name is the difference between a visitor visiting your site and visiting a "Not Found" page, so be careful on that. I like hyphens, but I tend to avoid them.
If you can figure out the core focus/topic of your intended website (besides just blurting out "anime"), we could probably shoot some relevant and perhaps "cool" names for you.

Crazy Tom Cruise at it again

"You sound surprised. Knowing that Tom Cruise does (medically) have a mental condition (and I think he is dyslexic as well), this seems rather typical of him. For me, I just see one crazy act after another. I think that's one of the reasons why I like him. Hmm."View

"I prefer Rhapsody, who are rather similar to DragonForce, but even better in my opinion.. I call them the heir of DragonForce, and rightfully they should be with their amazing, thematic songs. They recently had to rename themselves "Rhapsody of Fire" because of copyright issues. You should check them out if you enjoy DragonForce."View
Demanding a little attention
3 years 2 months ago
"Of course, it's unfair to immediately stereotype people wanting attention as those kinds of mischief makers. I mean, I know of a few attention whores at school, and they demand attention either by talking a lot, or always being the ones to start a conversation. They don't necessarily talk loud, or interrupt others... in fact, they have their share of listening too, but you can usually tell off the bat by the way they frequently talk, that they want attention. You know what they say though -- it's better to give attention than to receive it, much as it takes courage to stand up and talk, it also takes courage to sit down and listen. I personally am the listening kind of guy. I rarely demand attention, but only on occasion -- and only if I got something funny or productive to say or contribute. Even then, listeners never really reap any rewards, but for me, it's better that way. Less mouth movement = less strain on the muscles = less tiring. :P"

comp. temp.
3 years 2 months ago
"Here are a few more for you.If you're hardcore, you can check BIOS as mentioned above to check your CPU temperature. Whenever my splash screen appears when I turn on my computer, it shows the temperature at the bottom of the screen, but that's just for my BIOS/motherboard. So I don't have to go through that extra step. :P
If you want to be able to constantly monitor your CPU temperature via a program or some desktop widget, Motherboard Monitor is a great tool for picking up information gathered from your CPU's sensor. This information includes CPU temperature, as well as other miscellaneous information that you might or might not need.
SpeedFan is another monitoring utility that lets you adjust fan speeds (if your hardware supports it), it also reads CPU temperatures.
There are plenty more out there, but these two are what some google searches yielded for me. I tried MBM in the past and it worked great for me."

A good news for IE7
3 years 2 months ago
"Also downloading it. I'm going to be running a simple memory leak test over the next few days at school. There was a quick shout not too long ago that if you leave Firefox on for too long (like, one week long, without ever closing it), it gradually takes up a great big deal of your system memory. Not sure if it's actually a memory leak, but it's been reported to the FF team.I'm going to be checking to see if IE7 RC1 can suffer from the same thing. I always thought Internet Explorer loaded up faster than Firefox, so we'll just see. This is me on a bored week. :P"

"Seems like an interesting series from what people are saying, I'll have to add that to my list.On a different, less relevant subject, joscmh90, you should try to refrain from copying and pasting content that you did not write yourself in order to earn extra, undeserved papers. Perhaps quoting the content or paraphrasing it would be more appropriate. A google search on the full summary text will prove the plagiarism."

How many hours have u stayed in front of your computer
3 years 2 months ago
"I average 10 hours a day on the computer on non-school days... around 5 hours on school days. I spend most of my time gaming, watching anime (whoop-dee-doo) and surfing the Internet, particularly hanging in human filtering sites like this one, YouTube, my site, and WikiPedia. I also spend most of my time chatting on IRC as well. Knowing that a computer can do so many things, if I tried to do everything on the computer, I wouldn't have what we call a "life" (you remember those, right?).I think I spend too much time on the computer, but I consider it as my temporary refuge from real life."

drawing on your computer...
3 years 2 months ago
"I can't draw on the computer for the most part, be it by mouse or tablet. My dexterity at drawing is limited to actual drawing boards and pieces of paper. I never tried drawing on a tablet before, but I bet I wouldn't be all that great though -- it certainly would be better than trying to use the mouse though. It's almost impossible to draw a precise straight line across the screen, or to draw a smooth curve for that matter."View

Capcom

"My all-time favorite Capcom game is the Power Stone series (1 and 2). Capcom is well known for their traditional fighting games, and they're also infamous for breaking the tradition with Power Stone, which works on a completely different ruleset and gameplay/movement is in true 3D instead of the typical 2D movement we often see in most games.Power Stone 2, particularly, is an awesome, comical, and addicting party game. The replayability is almost neverending with the things you can do and the brawls you can get you and your friends into. If only it did online play... >_>"

"My mother watches a lot of Japanese and Korean dramas. I don't personally watch them, as I prefer anime, as you could probably tell, but every now and then when we eat together we watch it... even though I'm not all into that kind of stuff. In the event that I do for some series, they're awesome. She doesn't own a collection, but she rents a lot of them each week from Asian video stores."View

"Laiostoo, if you're more specific with the kind of computer you want to accomplish, we can pinpoint much better (and more accurate) motherboard suggestions to you. If you know what kind of processor you're looking for, then you'll narrow your motherboard choices down a lot. Asus is known for its quality motherboards and top-notch customer service. Though their motherboards rarely break down or arrive DoA, in the case that something bad does happen, customer service is there for prompt service and perhaps replacements.Biostar is also a pretty decent motherboard manufacturer. My old computer's been using a Biostar motherboard for as long as it could remember, and it still works fine."

A good news for IE7
3 years 2 months ago
"Though the lot of us will still be hugging our Operas and Firefoxes and any other "kewl leet" standards-compliant browsers, I'll be appreciating Internet Explorer 7 for its improved rendering engine (especially when it comes to CSS). Trying to make web pages work in IE6 is a huge pain, and often adds many hours of working with cross-browser compatibility issues. I tried IE7 beta in the past, and the way it rendered web pages was a huge improvement to version 6, so I'm glad.As Microsoft is well known for, it'll probably have its bugs and security flaws, but at least it won't be as horrid as version 6 -- a great improvement for a browser in which the less-educated public use by default when their brand new computers are shipped."

Cheap Cooling Solutions
3 years 2 months ago
"Not good if you're working on critical data or playing a hard-worked game and it suddenly goes out on you. If you're still looking to cool down your CPU, may I suggest on a new heatsink? I bought a Scythe Bat heatsink cooler a few months back, and it is, arguably, the definition of insanity. Because of this heatsink, my overclocked CPU idles at 21 C and goes up around 30 to 40 C on load. Note that this isn't a liquid cooling system, it's just your typical heatsink, except it's really, really huge. So if you have some money to burn, you might want to get that heatsink, it'll decrease the temperature by a lot. Note that it's really huge, so if you have a small ATX case, it might not even fit."

"Want to get Windows Vista Beta 2? Take a quiz and they'll send you a free CD, supposebly. Microsoft set up a quiz with questions based around their new OS, if you get a majority right, they'll offer to send you a free CD of Vista Beta 2. I already took the quiz and answered most of them right, my new CD's on its way. Couldn't be bad to give it a try, despite all the bugs I'll be running into, eh? :P"View

Wii or Revolution
3 years 2 months ago
"When I first heard of "Wii," it scared and freaked me out. Who gives a game console a name as weird as... well, "wii"? After hearing it so many times, watching so many trailers, and hearing many people's justifications for such a name, I became convinced that it's a rather good name, if not, unique. I liked Revolution primarily because it fitted exactly what it was meant to do: Create a revolutionary gaming experience with never-before-thought-up-of gameplay styles, controls, and other dynamics. Now, Wii sticks to me. It's much easier to say, sounds more unique, and really is a good name for a game that can bring people together in an easy fashion."

Techno Anyone????
3 years 2 months ago
"I stray away from traditional, mainstream techno (like Paul Oakenfold). I'm more of a trance, rave, happy hardcore, drum 'n bass, and speedcore kind of person. My favorite is Shiki, who's not really well-known right now, but I have his limited-print album, of which there are only a very, very few in the entire world, so I'm pretty happy I have it. For your information, he plays trance, happy hardcore, trancecore, and other minor electronic genres. When I first got into techno, I liked everything that had a beat, but after developing my music taste some more, I prefer anything over 165 BPM (happy hardcore-like)."

Non - Repetitive Games
3 years 2 months ago
"Usually games that offer diverse multiplayer options are the ones that are "non-repetitive" and have excellent replay value. Some examples are (but not limited to), Super Smash Bros. Melee, Power Stone 1 and 2, Mario Party, and Soul Calibur. Also, games which have a steep learning curve offer a lot of "replayability" as well, as it motivates you to continue playing the game more and more in order to get good at it. A perfect example is Beatmania IIDX, the famous, fairly-simple rhythm game with 7 keys and a turntable. Sounds easy enough, wrong. Though the concept will always be the same -- catch the corresponding keynote on time with the line, the gameplay will not, hence why you can play it forever and forever, and keep on getting good at it.On a side note, for online multiplayer games to survive, there has to be lots of replayability and non-linear progression to keep people interested."

BM IIDX US Release ps2
3 years 7 months ago
"IGN's 6.0 review of Beatmania IIDX US is a joke. Those guys are obviously ignorant of the Bemani scene. So do us a favor and don't listen to their review. I don't have Beatmania, but I played it at my friend's house, and it's nothing close to deserving a 6.0 -- 8.5 and up should be better. To me, the keys don't look "randomly slapped together" as IGN claims for it to be, and it's definitely not like any other "rhythm game" that they boast on about. The songs aren't crap either. The author of the review definitely puts a lot of his own personal, subjective (and biased) opinion on it, thus the 6.0 rating.I still prefer playing StepMania to Beatmania, but it indeed is an enjoyable game -- if you have the money. :P"

Tales of ...... Series

"It's a good thing to have an attitude of "never judge a book by its cover" when it comes to these "Tales of..." games. Although Namco wasn't really creative when it came to naming their titles, most of the Tales games I played are unique in each their own way. Despite similar titles, the games themselves are totally different in terms of gameplay and graphics in some parts."View
Anime or school?

"Thankfully, we live in a place where we don't have to choose between anime or school -- unless your life depended on it. If I had to pick, though, it would definitely be school. I don't know about you, but I value my education and pursuit of knowledge and aspirations more than I do enjoying watching anime series for pure leisure and entertainment... as well as your ocassional emotional breakdown. :PThere's nothing wrong with going with both, is there? Good, because that's what I'm going for. :D"
