"Huh, wow. Quite a conversation you've got going on here. I guess since it involves my wall to begin with, I ought to weigh in.

To answer someone's previous question, no, I am not Madgod and I did not give permission or create a PS3 theme with my Code Geass wall. That should clear up that.

As for my opinion on all of this, I have to say that part of me was flattered. I do wish that my original credit line at the bottom of the wall had been kept, since it is only right that the work I put into creating the wall, as well as the original Code Geass creators, be acknowledged.

But this is not the first time that one of my walls have been ripped. In the past, I've chosen to handle it on a case-by-case basis. If the person reusing my work gave me credit, I let it go (as was the case of someone who took my Asuka wall and cut her out of it to use her in their wall). If the person didn't give me credit, I asked them to remove it. Lately, I just don't have the time to spend devoted to this. I was much for gun-ho during my early years. :)

I'm not sure that I completely buy DexLuther's explanation. One could argue that the characters themselves are all that is held in copyright by the original creator, but that the bg (which I made myself), would in fact be copyright me. Copyright law is very complicated and I don't pretend to know it well, but it was just a thought!"

Forgive me for not reading every last page of this thread. I did glance through them and just have a couple things to add or comment on.

- As a few have mentioned, I also would like to be able to add tags to my walls or scans at the time of submission.
- I would actually not like to be notified with a PM every single time someone posts on one of my walls. I much prefer the current system that you have with the button at the top. This way, I can track them and respond at my leisure without having my Inbox clogged up.
- The scans gallery has quite a few pages that are listed and linked, but empty when you click on them. (Am I explaining that clearly? I mean that the category says it has 11 pages, but when you get to page 11, it's empty.) If this is something that you need help keeping track of for weeding out purposes, etc, I'm happy to help.

"Hey, just thought I'd leave some advice regarding Eureka's missing arm. If you vector her, you can easily rebuild the missing side of her body. This can take some practice, but when you get the hang of it, rebuilding images can be very rewarding. Good luck!"

You have some slight pixelation going on in Yuki's hair. Try using a smoothing tool to work that out (depending on what program you're in. I assume you're using something like Photoshop).

The background does seem a bit disconnected from the image of Yuki to me. I mean, the girl's crying, but the bg is a bright cheery blue. The book looks very random to me. I know that Yuki's a bookworm and all, but it doesn't seem to be fully incorporated enough to call it a logo, and so it's just kind of hanging out...

Try thinking about what you want the wall to convey, and they making a bg that expresses that and fits with Yuki's image. You'll be happy with the result!"

First Wall

"Well, I have a number of pointers, and since you've posted in SZ, I assume you want advice :)

First off, this really looks like a scan. Perhaps it's because of the very uniform graininess about it. Were the people from various scans and were extracted and placed over a bg that you built by hand? If so, you've done just about the cleanest job of incorporating bg and extracted characters that I've ever seen.

The text itself I find very distracting. I don't think it's offering anything helpful to the wall. Don't be anxious to fill up space with something just to have something there. You already have a very full and busy wall happening.

Lastly, I'd move your signature to the bottom of the wall. No one wants to look at it when they're enjoying a wall on their desktop. The wall is definitely busy for my tastes, but I know that many enjoy things like this. Keep working at it, and it'll come together. Good luck!"

"I agree with Asa's comments. There are some jagged edges, and the bg is a bit too plain. Adding some interesting text could work, depending on the positioning, font and coloring. There is a group here at AP that if for fonts and helps users, if you want it. "

First off, are these fanart or are you trying to make a wallpaper? You call them fanart but you mention 1024x768, which makes me think that you are trying to make a wall, so please just clarify that :)

Other than that, I like the first and last ones better than the second one. The second one has much too much going on in it in my opinion. The last one is calmer on the eye than the first, but the guy's head is much darker than the other parts of the wall, which looks odd to me. Let me know if any of that helps you... :)"

"Even with the wall resized through photo bucket, it's good quality. My first reaction was that this is quite different from the "normal" Ichigo Mash. walls. Do you think it fits the series? The strawberry on the left is an interesting effect. The logo looks a tad out of place because it just looks plastered over the bg rather than integrated into it. Hmm, I'm not sure how helpful that was, but that's my feedback!"

"Hello, I think the "page cannot be found" error is because your link has an extra period (.) at the end. Delete that and you can view the wall.

As for your wall, you first need to add your signature to the bottom. Otherwise, it won't be accepted.

Second, can you give us a bit of a description of what you did to make the wall? My first impression is that you simply made a picture larger, faded it a bit, and then put some words on top of it. The image is not the best quality, so the characters look pixelated. Try telling us more about what you did (and what you would like to improve) and we'll see how we can help."

"Well hello. I think you've received some good comments so far. There are some elements of Mars that need to be smoothed (ie: they're jagged), but overall your extraction is very nice. I suggest making her smaller though. If you think about the average desktop, there is a start bar at the bottom of the screen. Any start bar is going to cover up her feet and possibly a small portion of Luna. Additionally, some people have an optional start bar on the top of their desktop that would cut off part of Rei's head.

On another note, the border that is around the planet behind Rei bothers me a tad. Maybe making it glow a bit more would differentiate it more from the Mars bg that you have going on.

Lastly, I don't quite understand what the black band around the top half of the Mars planet is there for? I think it's something I would remove.

GGG Wallpaper rejected...why?

"Ok, I have read or skim-read all of the posts up to now, and looked at the many reincarnations of this wall. In my opinion, you have come a long way since the beginning, so I won't dwell on that and will leave my comments to your current version.

What bothers me: When I look at this wall, I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking at. What's the focus, the mecha or the guy? Simply based on the color scheme of the bg and the guy, I think that I am supposed be focusing on the guy. The mecha, with it's orange overtones, seems to not fit and look like you simply pasted it over the wall because it was a picture that you liked.

Also, how did you make the bg design? I might have missed that in the earlier posts, but it looks like you blew it up to fit the size of the wall. It's is pixelated in parts.

What I would do to fix it: First, I would get rid of the mecha, the title of the anime (unnecessary and isn't adding anything constructive to the wall), and the rocks. I would center the guy and his wings, and I would vector him. Next, I would remake the bg. You can find a fantastic tutorial for making sci-fi-ish bgs here: http://www.imanimetions.net/

Good enough or not??

"Ok, before you do anything else, you need to read the guide. Any wall submitted without a signature will be automatically rejected. So first things firts, add your signature to the bottom.

After that, take some of the suggestions here and clean up the scan. Your extraction really isn't that bad, but I'm sure that you aren't going to clean this up without vectoring it, which might be more work than you want to invest for your first wall. You gave a picture of the wall and the scan, but no comments from yourself as to what kind of feedback you're looking for. Something caught your eye about the scan, think about how to translate that to a wallpaper. Perhaps adding some more atmosphere, though I'm stumped right now as to how to suggest you do that... Xp"

I personally would prefer to have the manga bg be more faded, and not such a focus. It competes with the larger image. Also, they are very odd sizes and will not be accepted that way. As they are, they are merely graphics you have made and not wallpapers. A minimum wall size for AP is 1024x768. Imo, Vegeta is too blurry in both walls. I hope that helps get you started..."

"I would first suggest adding your signature. Read the Guide for submitting walls, and make sure that you sign all the walls you submit, otherwise they won't get accepted. Having the AxC at the corner doesn't count, imo.

As for the wall itself, the girl is much too blurry, as others have said. The bg is a bit crowded, and it looks a bit like the symbols, etc, have just been put on the screen to fill up space instead of with a design purpose. Most of the symbols are also blurry. I'm not meaning to be harsh, just offer up constructive criticism. Good luck!"
