look for anime RAWs -- like http://tokyotosho.com/ puts up raws releases. for older stuff i recommend ed2k. and if you find fansubs in ogm or mkv you usually can turn of the subs, so it's just like raws [almost ;p]"

anyway -- vector is ok, just add the shadow on his mouth as it is on the original [in the corner of the mouth, lol]

what you could do is take each line of his gloves, clothes and hair and instead of making it black, take a respective color but darker -- like on gloves, dont use black but grey, on the coat - not red, not even the shadow dark red, but -- very dark red XD all this would make him look a little bit different.
you could try the same on his face, but the effect might not be ok."

"Ok so, some critiques first:
1. the plane - doesnt fit, imho.
2. the lamp and the traffic lights -- good idea, but it would be better if you made them in the same sharp style as the buildings.

but now, the BEST thing imho -- i can give you an idea i think would be.. striking and scandalus, so:

get rid of the lamp and traffic lights, and the plane. instead of the two towers, imitate collapsing and burning NY twin towers. and maybe this legendary 'great smoke' over manhattan, going to the left to cover for the lack of things in that side of the wall.. leave the birds as they are. and the guy thinking 'flcl' -- oh man, i see it, i feel it, oh man this would be a killer wall if you just could pull it of with a great technique it would be so good. [cause technique would be crucial here, as the simplicity of the wall would be quite high]

end of idea. it would be hard to meet my expectations, so you can just forget what i've just said ;p damn, i'd like to do that myself, lol.. ;p

- the opacity of the grid - decrease it, it hurts eyes when looking
- the building look quite simple, maybe make them more detailed, or maybe enlarge the character?
- right-middle side - grey rectangle - what is that? :>
