After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Anew Returner

"I think they completely lost their path. I don´t actually know where the series is heading to and we only have 4 episodes more to go.
What I more dislikes about the series, is that we doesn´t have a valid argument. Right now it´s only "chase Celestial Being" and no more than that.
How can change the world in the last 4 episodes an how accomplish that goal?
Setsuna is becoming the "ultimate coordinator" of this era, but is that enough to accomplish that?."

"Wang Lui Mei´s character change a lot in this second season. In the first part she seems to be a believer of Aeolia´s plan, but now it seems to have and manages his own agenda.
I hope she is really dead, because based on her final phrase, she deserves it.
What I really don´t now is what the hell has Neena Trinity planned to do right now, are shoe going to reunite with Celestial Being or betrays them joining to innovators plan?"

Where Celestial Being will find another GN Drive to use it in Gundam Exia?
It will be nice see the exia in a final mission, fighting to restore the order once again in this uniffied world, but unlikely."

"It´s obvious since she first appear that she is an innovator. It´s obvious that the time will come when she betrays Celestial Being.
It´s obvious how is she going to end up?

We have a few options, but I think that she will die in the next week´s episode. And i will tell you why do I think so.

First, she will betrays CB and try to steel the 00 Gundam. It´s pretty obvious that she will not accomplish this goal because we see 00 in Setsuna´s hand and she is in another MS fighting with Lockon.
My guess is that she is going to save Lockon in some part of the episode using her MS and finally causing his own death (i hope that Lockon doesn´t be the one who killed her). I say this, because if she doesn´t go back with the innovators she can´t stay in CB.
That is because I don´t think that she can cut the bond between innovators and in this way, she allways be a threat for CB.

I hope to be wrong, but..."

"The last gundam series could be the coolest now. But you should place yourself inthe time that old series will make.
You will find out that Gundam 0079 in terms of history and characters complexity is almost unique. And also, you will find out that the series was practicly the firs series that envolving robots, don´t use a scream to activate it as you can see in Mazinger Z.
In a tima when the robots are a copy of Mazinger and the main story was only see the giant robot destroy the evil robots GUNDAM iniciate a new era in ANIME."

"Based inwhat we saw in the OP (in both of them actually) seems to battle againist Tieria who is really perturbed since the original Lockon Stratos died.
What makes me feel bad is that I think Tieria should fight with another Innovator, and leave Ali Al Sarshes to Lyle.
If you see the OP, you see lockon fighting against a couple of Innovators and Tieria attacking Ali Al Sarshes.
In second thought, could Lockon battle against innovators to avenge his beloved Anew Returner?
Do you think that she is going to die in the upcomming episode, when she seems to betrays Celestial Being?
I say this because, f she returns to Lockon and Celestial Being, the innovators can attack her and why not kill her before she goes back to the Ptolemaios."

I think, that what we call First Gundam is the prototype por most anime series that we see today. It changes the way that Japanese creators see the anime and their stories, making them more complex and structured.

I think Gundam rocks!"

Gundam SEED, 00, and Remakes

9 months 3 weeks ago

"Carl Kimlinger of ANN went so far as to say that 00 is a remake of Gundam Wing, in a similar fashion to the way Seed reinvented the basic premise, cast, and plot elements of the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam. If this was true, then maybe there was hope yet for a post-Endless Waltz world. Encouraged, I reluctantly broke out my dusty install of uTorrent and investigated the series, courtesy of fansub group Conclave-Mendoi. Here are my thoughts.

It's 2307 AD, and naughty mankind has burned up all the Earth's fossil fuel. To avoid major frostbite and the general collapse of civilization, the superpowers of the world have consolidated their power into blocs and constructed 'elevators' - basically fantastically tall spires that extend into space and collect solar energy. Alliances and treaties have formed around these elevators, and eventually three major factions have risen to power: the Union of Free Nations (USA), the European Union (duh), and the Human Reform League (Asia). These factions are now struggling with each other over control of the lifeline elevators and therefore world power. In the middle of all this chaos and destruction arises the Celestial Being, a fourth party dedicated to the elimation of war and the establishment of world peace by use of force. They are, in essence, peacekeepers who go around in four hyper-powerful Mobile Suits called...wait for it...Gundams, disabling or killing any army that puts its toe on the battlefield.

Piloting the Gundams are the laughably-named 'Gundam Meisters', the main protagonists of the series and the 00 equivalents to Wing's Heero, Wufei, Trowa, Duo, and Quatre. These Gundam Meisters (Setsuna Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Hallelujah Haptism, and Tieria Erde) and their simultaneously self-sacrificing, arrogant, and angsty exploits form the core of the series. The peripheral cast involves a lot of other Japanese names that wouldn't mean much to you, but in general these characters are of the military/political bend, either caught up in the events of the story or secretly orchestrating them from behind closed doors. Think Treize, Gundam Scientists, and Relena, and you'll get the idea.

At first blush the setup is indeed very similar. You've got an unaffiliated team of pilots flying custom Gundams against a host of factions and their mass-produced grunts. The pilots are dedicated, serious, and take no names in their struggle for peace. Their machines are ridiculously overpowered compared to the enemy forces, and each pilot has a distinctive combat approach. Most of the characters are intelligent, with lofty ideals and eloquent speech patterns. The comparison fails when you try to find 1-to-1 matches for each character, but overall there are far, far too many coincidences to ignore. Gundam 00 may not be a remake of Gundam Wing, but it is an updated take on the plot, dynamics, characters, and presentation. In short, you will feel strangely at home with this series if you were a Gundam Wing fan back in the day.

But in a lot of ways, Gundam 00 'rectifies the mistakes' of Gundam Wing.

Instantly noticeable is the animation. Not only is 00 done in full HD, it also sports the gorgeous, 100% fresh animation that made Endless Waltz such a joy to watch. Both Wing and the more recent Seed suffered from a mind-numbing amount of recycled shots. Seriously, how many times did Heavyarms shoot in the same patterns with its arm and chest guns? How many times did Murrue Ramius' breasts bounce all over the place when the Archangel got hit? At times, combat scenes in both of these series felt like random stock footage with no meaning whatsoever. Gundam 00 bucks this trend and painstakingly animates each and every shot, beam saber strike, grapple, and collision. In a lot of ways this is to be expected, since the series follows Wing by over ten years, but hey - Seed was just as lazy. It does my animation heart good to see Sunrise actually working hard for once.

Secondly (although we'll have to wait and see if this holds up in the dub; I hope it does), the writing in 00 is leagues ahead of Wing's dawdling, confusing monologuing. It's still nowhere near as concise and snazzy as, say, Cowboy Bebop, but most of the prententious rambling is gone. Unfortunately the tightened script also leaves behind most of the philosophical exposition that Gundam Wing is (in?)famous for. The end result is something in between Wing's loftiness and Seed's mundane drivel. (It's worth noting that while the cast of 00 is nowhere near as self-obsessed and spineless as Seed's, the main character Setsuna Seiei is still very emotional and prone to tiresome introspection. My guess is that this aspect is part of the 'modern' facelift. Oh, those angsty teenagers of the new millenium...)

Really, though the truth about Gundam 00 is that it really is its own show. Although it's convenient to tie it to Wing, as you watch the series it feels less and less like Wing and more like...well, the best Gundam series *since* Wing. Gundam Wing might have laid the foundation for this latest iteration with its maturity, gravity, and grand scope, but 00 has its own style, its own approach, and in the end its own merit to thank for its quality. Hopefully that quality will make Toonami take notice. I think there's a good chance of this one hitting our beloved block - Seed did fairly well under the circumstances back in '04, after all. Who knows? This might be the long-awaited savior that can buoy Toonami back to weekday dominance, just as Gundam Wing helped initiate the first takeover back in 2000. Think about it: Happy Meals, action figures, model kits all over the place; Gundam craze sweeping the nation, courtesy of Toonami... Wing did it once; 00 could be the show to do it again.

Gundam SEED, 00, and Remakes

1 year 1 month ago

"Just a few things.

One: I don’t know where people are getting this show is a remake of Gundam Wing. The plot is not even remotely similar to that of Wing. In Wing the 5 Gundams were sent down independently and had no real purpose other than to wreck havoc and the plot just sort of splurged out from there. In 00 the 4 Gundams are a team with the goal of intervening in armed conflict. Seeing as that’s the only thing in the storyline I can think of that’s remotely similar that’s not enough to call it a remake or that it got it’s source material from Wing

Two: The obsession some people have with fanservice (what little of it there is) in this series is kind of ridculous. Why is it that some people rag on it for a couple of scenes right near the middle of two character sunbathing. It’s not like it happened constantly or anything like that and as a series I watch for Skin Service, Gundam 00 would rank as a 1.5/10 on such a scale. Why is it that other shows are allowed to have so much blatant fanservice while Gundam 00 gets one scene of the characters relaxing by a pool side and half the pundits freak out saying it’s a sign of a trainwreck (and this did happen) and won’t stop talking about it.

Three: At no point did the Gundams ever slaughter 1,000’s of units in the show. In all of their victories early on it was against upwards of 30 tops and they used coordinated attacks and played to their specialities and advantages to come out over top. As I recall when they tried to fight the 3 powers during the military exercise in the desert they got whomped once their GN Drives ran out of power and took down something like 20 units."

Gundam SEED, 00, and Remakes

1 year 2 months ago

"I don´t see Gundam 00 as a remake from Gundam Wing, the plot has some similarities, but no more than that.
Gundam 00 is more dark than Wing. In GW the Gundam Pilots have the support of most colonies. In Gundam 00, Celestial Being is almost alone, is a paramilitar corporation that tries to erradicate war beeing both; judge and executor, putting themselves in a difficult situation cause in a caotic world like we seing in the series, their are the alternative to choose, but not to accept.
Their are a non-political solution to a worl too political and cinical...
The gundam meisters are feared and hatred, their acts are allways seeing like a provocation an there is no escape from them. They put their heads in the guillotine to make a better world. The Gundam Pilots that we see in GW, fight a war from independence. To liberate Colonys from oppression and no more tahn that.

I do think that Gundam Seed is much more alike Gundam 0079.
Cause there are a primary pilot that "founds" a mobile Suit and starts to using it to protect the ones who love. There is a "legged ship" that has to run across the galaxy to find a safe way to reach home."

Why did you like Code Geass

"Well, I like code Geass for the plot, it´s very twisted and dark, there is no place for kindness or stupidity like Gundam Seed or Destiny.
The characters and their stories are very complicated and how they grew up hand in hand with the story is excellent,. Cause, like I said before, in Seed Kira was an inocent boy at the beginning and he ended in the same way in Destiny. He doesn´t learn a thing."

Lasse Aion - Ptolemaeus' gunner. The mothership's combat ability can be said to be governed by him. A 25-year-old who often acts cynically.

Agent
Wang Liu Mi - A beautiful 17-year-old celebrity. Today, the Carribean Sea, tomorrow, Japan...she works hard at her social life in financial circles traveling around the world. In reality, she's a secret agent who supports the Gundam Meisters from the shadows. Pig-tailed girl in the trailer.

Hong wrong - Wang Liu Mi's butler. Accompanies her faithfully and refers to her as "ojousama". He is also an Agent.

Union

Louise Halevy - 17-year-old student overseas. Studies space engineering like Saji. Is his girlfriend. Her personality is very selfish.

New GUNDAM Series

2 years 4 months ago

"Newtype had an interview with Mizushima which covered different topics from the Animage one.

Source: Newtype
Q: A 15-second long promo video appeared after Toward the Terra on June 2. Any response from the public?
A: They were a lot of responses and they were fast, too. A day after the promo, my friend who was eating at a restaurant overheard young people talking about the next Gundam by watching it on their mobile phones.

Q: This Gundam doesn't take place in ___ Era, instead it takes place in Seireki (anno domini aka AD) 2307.
A: I wanted to do it in AD. Since my knowledge regarding UC and CE is very low, doing it in AD would be a lot easier and allow me to bring in real world agendas.

Q: Was bringing a real world agenda the start of your concept?
A: Since this is Mobile Suit Gundam, I believe you are placed in a situation where you have to write something about war. If that is the case, it could be on something like a conflict or terror we see today. In a Gundam series, the Gundam serves as a weapon which allows me to do these things. It is possible to make this story a fantasy, but I didn't want to do that with this Gundam. I wanted an era based on today's world.

Q: Setsuna F. Seiei, the main character, is a former soldier from the Middle East. This smells like the ethnic and religious clash we have today.
A: 300 years from now, I don't think this problem will be solved. However, I don't want to present a solution to this social problem. If young people ended up searching on the net, it would be worth making the series. Instead of just watching the events, I'm personally hoping we can approach it more closely. For us, it is hard to understand the thoughts of people who are living under war conditions, but we can know a little bit by studying. I want to absorb them and express them on film. I do believe this is a hard thing to do.

There is another challenge. I'm aiming for a new innovation as far as MS action goes. Each group will have their own MS, unique in shape and movement as well. To put it simply, a normal MS will have realistic behavior. Since Gundams are super weapons, they will have super mechanic movements. These differences will be purposely put in place and I'm looking forward to how much variety of actions we can express. I want everyone to look forward to this because I am, too.

Q: Setsuna is described as a cool person who hardly reveals any emotion. Does this mean he is keeping his feelings inside himself regarding why he fights?
A: That is still a secret. *laughs* His past is difficult to understand which probably makes him look cool. Once people see the facts, they will understand.

Q: Why did you decide on him as the main character?
A: At first, I wanted a character that doesn't fit a typical Japanese person. Then I went through the process of what this young person and I would do if I were placed in these circumstances. I believe this is an important step when you develop a story.

Q: This is far away from the viewer's standpoint.
A: Yes, it is. Which is why I asked Yun Kouga for character designs. If this wasn't Kouga-san's designs, people might have been afraid, grossed out, or not even empathize. It may sound like this is all we're doing based on my conversation, but it is only part of it. This is an entertainment show so we'll have those other elements, too.

Q: Will there be any romance?
A: There will be plenty of romance even under these harsh circumstances. *laughs* Yousuke Kuroda is going to include lots of romance in the story.

Q: Which means a heroine character is going to appear?
A: We haven't made that public yet? There is one, a 24-year-old heroine. She's been through a lot of difficulties.

Q: Will she be Setsuna's primary interest?
A: Umm, we haven't decided that yet. Again, she's been through a lot...

Mizushima Animage interview
This month's anime magazines had interviews with Seiji Mizushima, the director of the Gundam 00 series. Below is a translation of an interview from Animage magazine. A Newtype magazine interview will be up tomorrow.

Q: Tell us how the title "Mobile Suit Gundam 00" came about?
A: It started as a temporary title, but it ended up being the official title. Originally I wanted to have a cool name, but we all forgot about it. Besides the obvious reason of starting from zero, there are other reasons. Right now it is a secret, but it will become a keyword as the story progresses.

Q: Reason behind why this series is set in the future of our world?
A: I personally have no deep knowledge about UC or CE so jumping into their worlds would be inappropriate and offensive to the staff who worked on those series. To me, it made perfect sense to make this series connected to our world. By doing this, it is easier to reflect our history and blend it with the series. At this moment, I am not focusing too much about making this ultra real or serious. This is entertainment after all so I'll mirror some of the real world issues in this series like I have with the anime I worked on in the past.

Q: What kind of Gundam story are you aiming for?
A: Don't know if this is a good or bad thing. I haven't watched a lot of the previous Gundam series. When I was first offered this job, I thought to myself, "Aren't there more Gundam-minded people than me?" Sunrise told me "We want to create a new Gundam so the director doesn't have to know a lot about Gundam." I have staff like Yousuke Kuroda and mecha designers, who are Gundam fans, so they will make sure it is Gundam while I will try to create without thinking too much that this is a Gundam series. Perhaps, this might be the theme, but I will bring my own Gundam-ness to the series.

Q: What is your Gundam-ness?
A: One is writing about war. Gundam is a weapon after all. This doesn't mean I'm going to be devoted to battles scenes. Instead I believe it is important to approach the war theme straightforward. (Gunota note: from here he tries to be funny) Other than that, a mobile weapon walking on 2 legs using beam sabers and a beam rifle. Then the basic stuff like Gundam is red, blue, yellow, and white. *laughs* This time, we are being more adventurous with the designs. If you have these 4 colors, they look like Gundam. *laughs*

Q: The pilots of the Gundams belong to a group who are trying to end war. What are you trying to say with this?
A: Let's take this one phrase, "Using force to end wars" and see what happens when someone carries out this contradicting act. "What do you start to see?" is one of things I want to write. Since this is a drama involving these characters, you will see "What happens to the world when they pilot the Gundam? What will these pilots do and how will they change?" This will be the gut of the series for sure.

Q: How will the MS designs and battle action turn out?
A: We hope to bring 2 styles: one is the super action style from SEED, second are actions that take advantage of the MS. When the plot of Gundams entering the conflict was being setup, we had a conversation saying "It might be all right for the Gundams to be super mecha." Therefore, the antagonist's MS was designed reflecting today's weapons and the Gundams were designed to confront them. It will feel like super mecha vs real mecha. The concept of the Gundam being far superior is one concept I had from the beginning. I don't know how much of that you will see, but the staff will follow along and hopefully you might see some odd looking scenes.

Q: Lastly, a message for the fans of the upcoming series.
A: While this will be a drama connecting people with people or people with the world, I will not be forcing answers on them. I'm hoping this series will motivate viewers into thinking. A Gundam novice like me is working real hard creating a new Gundam so I hope the previous fans and new fans will support us."

I like Gundam (a lot) and I see allmost every series (I´m currently seeing ZZ and Turn A would be the only one remaining to complete all gundam sagas), but none left that empty feeling lika Destiny does.
I´ve got great hopes for 00, and why not can we see te origin of a new Universal Century."
