As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

"Sana (Kodocha) is a star who goes to regular school and works after it lets out. Maybe the fanclubs are more exaggerated, I haven't been in HS for awhile, but I don't remember the girls being that extreme, then again... my HS was really small.I thought of another:
4. Crossdressing to get what you want. Present in I, My, Me Strawberry Eggs. A male teacher tried to get a teaching job, but the school only hired female teachers... Also in Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, Mizuki dresses as a boy because her idol goes to an all boys school. It's also present in Power if I recall."

"1. Fanclubs. Especially for a fellow classmate. The immediate one that comes to mind is Yuki's fanclub in Fruits Basket.2. Turning into Animals or vice-versa. Several shows have this, Princess Tutu, Ranma, Furuba. (Is that a theme?)
3. Implied/Apparent shounen-ai or shoujo-ai. This is common in alot of shows. Sailor Moon, Magic Users Club, Cardcaptor Sakura, etc."

"I prefer DVDs over VHS, especially since I didn't own a VCR until a few months ago. DVDs are nicer quality, and if you want you can switch back and forth between Japanese and English if you so desire. Many more choices. And the easter eggs, don't forget about those!DVDs are also useful if you need to get a screencap of something, just pop it in your computer, no worries about what video card you need to hook up a VCR to your computer."

anime conventions?

"Reading everyones replies make me feel like a veteren convention attendee. I've been to... 6 since 2001 (Otakon 01, BAAF 02&03, Yasumicon 03, Megacon 04 and FITCon 04). And... it looks like I'll be attending several more this year including Otakon, which I'm really excited about since I had to miss it last year. Why must there be so many conventions in Florida?All conventions are different. There's smaller ones like FITCon and Yasumicon and huge ones like Otakon and Anime Expo. If you end up going to one, try to hook up with some friends be them irl, or on-line. Knowing someone can make the experience that much better. And you have someone to talk to when you see a crossplay for the first time. :/
The common events at all cons are usually anime rooms, video game rooms, cosplay, AMV contests, and of course the dealers room (which is a good place to get items you might not find easily). There are generally different panels you can attend such as industry panels, where representatives from companies like ADV or Bandai discuss what's going on; to fan panels where they talk about cosplay tricks, mechas, etc."
