Help!! Help!!! Another Kingdom Hearts Wallpaper

"It looks...very confusing.

The background is a sky shot, and it looks like you took a land shot and put it over the sky shot. O_o; The angle is very contradicting. Generally it's a bad idea to use straight photography stock images in anime or game based wallpapers... it just looks strange. You could try re-painting the scene in photoshop or another program, to make it look more like it would fit with the scan.

Someone also mentioned that Sora's shadow/form was blurry - it's true. You need a sharp, but clean image to work with... I'm guessing you upsized the scan? Also... the compilation is a bit distracting. My eyes want to go everywhere at once. Try to 'calm' the wallpaper down a bit. Make it so the viewer wants to look at one thing, which makes them go to another, and then another, which eventually leads back to the focus of your wallpaper. Right now you have no real focus. Sora is dark, but the sun is so bright that the wall is distracting. O_o;

Overall, the idea is nice, but the execution needs quite a bit of work. The only suggestion I can make to you is to look at other Kingdom Hearts (and in fact, any section would be fine) to see what they have done with the backgrounds. It will help immensely. ^__^"

"Well.. I pretty much agree with everyone else here... it's too blurry, and the character style is very different from the Meteor style...

If it's fanart (which I know it is), you need to credit the artist, and preferably ask for permission first... Artists tend to get very grouchy when people use their art without asking. :S AP will remove it in an instant if they get a complaint, so it's best to ask first.

The idea is good... but the execution could use a little work. :)"

I've been having issues uploading scans. Example scan is 2351px wide by 3396px tall. Is this too large for the system? I would prefer not to have to split the scan (it has two images on one page). My other scans are roughly the same size.

Assuming you have Photoshop

What you can do is take your two separate pictures (girl and window) and put them in two separate layers in Photoshop, with the window on the top layer. Then, you look in the layers panel (in a default layout it should be at the bottom right), and right under the lable for the layers tab, there should be a drop-down menu. With your window layer selected, go through this drop down menu, one at a time, until you find something that allows it to be slightly transparent so you can see the girl through the window. Just test it out until you find what works. If necessary, you can delete parts of the girl photo.

A little vague, but I don't have Photoshop on this computer, so it's a little hard to describe any better. ^^;;;"

"Well... your latest version (mentioned earlier) is a little blurry on the background. Your character also has sharp colors, while the background is slightly faded, and not really as bright.

I can only suggest trying to use a different background... look at what other people have done with the wallpapers that are already in the gallery to get some ideas. :)"

"Meh... you really don't need the stars or birds... you could make them more transparent, and then spread them across either side if you really wanted to, but I don't think they would make much sense that way. O_o;; And definatly keep it white... I have no idea what you'd use to fill in the blank spaces on the sides, but you've done such a wonderful job so far that I'm confident you'll think of something (or if you're having trouble, someone else could help... I'm not feeling too creative at the moment!).

Anyhow... keep posting results and we'll keep commenting. This is looking really good, and I'd love to see it in the gallery when you're done! :)"

"I really liked it better with just the white background... it seems very weird, split down the middle (although it coordinates with the sun and moon). I loved your version with the white BG and heartless at the bottom... although I think you may want to add some text somewhere, or something to the sides (they look a little bare). The splitting down the middle though with night and day... that doesn't look so hot. O_o;; I really loved the way you just had it at the top, and that was it.

Road signs (someone mentioned it earlier) or arrows might add a nice touch (with things like "Traverse Town" and the other places they visited in print on the arrows)

It looks good though (white background). "

"I realize this would cause problems - which, like how you have several moderators who can accept scans, you could have two or three janitors per catagory, just to make sure there wasn't a backlog depending soly on a single janitor.

That's also why this was just a suggestion - I'm not saying do it or else (because for one, it isn't up to me). And while it would cause a slight delay, it's the same as later having a moderator/admin having to go back and check the reported scans and deleting them.

It would stop the problem before it got started."

"First of all, I know this sounds a little odd so bear with me please-

I know you have a lot of trouble sometimes with the larger scan sections/titles looking through and making sure there isn't a duplicate before you allow a scan to be admitted to that gallery. I also know that certain people (like myself) are very familiar with certain galleries, and know immediatly if there is a duplicate when we see something.

What I am suggesting may be a bit more trouble, but again bear with me.

After the scan has been accepted by an admin/moderator, it would be sent to a 'janitor' for the particular gallery that the scan was submitted to. This 'janitor' might then be able to search through the gallery to make sure the scan isn't a duplicate, and if it is, be able to chose which scan to keep based on quality/size/etc. At that point, papers would be awarded/deducted by the system.

This would save the admin a lot of time by allowing people who want to search through the galleries do it for them. It would also negate a lot of problems due to duplicates and ripped images, as well as accidental submissions of fanart and unwanted/allowed doujin that manage to slip by the admin/moderators.

I know this would make things a bit more complicated at first, and you would need to be careful about whom you chose (as well as going through the process of finding volunteers), but it would, in the long run, probably save you a lot of time and sorting as well.

Whew... thanks for reading through that, and I hope you'll consider it in the future. :)

"Okay... very grainy. I would also try to use a different text... that looks like it was... well... from a 1990 computer... O_o; AKA: try dafont.com They have lots of neat fonts, and if you need help installing them, I'll be happy to help you with that.

Also... it's hard to read because you've got black and white grains... you should probably think about using more than just black and white, to make it pop. You can use mostly black and white, with just a smudge of color if you like, but just using B&W is boring...

And lastly... the scan/image looks as if you simply desaturated it and then inverted (black to white, white to black) it... it's not very appealing.

What program are you using? Try looking around animepaper at other people's walls (NOT in Session Zero... look at ones in the gallery!) for inspiration, and ideas. It'll get easier... believe me. :-)

"My scans may have been in the moonlight lady catagory, but they were hardly hentai, and I originally submitted them into the carnelian section - once they were deleted from that section, I believe this person re-submitted them under carnelian, where my scans should have been in the first place."
