This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Will you Buy a Quad Core when they come out? AMD or Intel?

2 years 4 weeks ago

"I won't. Hell, right now dual-core is overkill. I can't really see any applications using quad-core; services on the other hand yes... but what services on a typical home pc would utilize this, besides maybe folding DC machines?

If we had quad-core with specialized cores, like, dual-core for processing and maybe a core for something else like physics, and games took advantage of this - maybe. Something like the cell processor.

If any company takes full advantage of quad-core, i think it will be apple. They already have a PowerMac running quad-core via 2 C2D cpus."

Mac or PC?

2 years 4 weeks ago

"I just built another PC recently, even though, I swore I was going to buy a mac. I have been using PCs since like 1988 with the old intel 286. Windows 3.0 was awesome back then.

Now. More and More. I find myself drawn to what the MAC has to offer. My next computer will probably be a mac, because I don't game that much -and- I don't like where vista is going."

Getting Disgaea 2 Today!

2 years 1 month ago

"There isn't really any FAQs in GameFAQ for anything.

There are five secret switches where Adell's house is.

1. Behind the fallen pillars where the rep for the Dark Assembly is.
2. One behind Adells house where the stairs leads to the back door.
3. One on the bridge, going from where the prinny is to the monster in the middle of the bridge.
4. One behind the house thats behind adells house.
5. One on the far corner of the screen in the forested area thats on the other side of the map, adjacent to the fallen pillars.

What it opens? You'll need to figure it out for yourself... buahaha."

"IGN has already reviewed this game and gave it like a 8.5. I looked at the videos on it, it has a lot of the same play mechanics, but also added some also.

I'll let you know..."

Increase Your Computer Speed

2 years 1 month ago

"Luna on newer PCs doesn't cause a performance hit because it's mostly 2-D acceleration anyway. On older PC's I could probably see switching to a classic theme, but it wouldn't be too noticable on newer ones - in the kinds of performance gains you are describing.

I have all those options unchecked at work to free up memory from explorer.exe and a couple other processes. I think the difference between all options and no options is approx 14 megs of memory.

Speeding up computers in a purely modern sense would be to buy more memory. The diffrerence between 1 gig and 2 gig is immediately apparent. Alt-Tab for instance happens in an instant."

AMD comeback?

It has always been a battle between AMD and Intel. It especially more so now that APPLE has also decided to start using Intel CPU. Only recently has Intel been able to take the lead again on performance. But is performance really everything? I mean a computer that I have from five years ago still work perfectly great and fine. I only started to upgrade because of the cheap prices and felt that 5 years is a good time to get a new one. Intel for the longest time always concentrated on the speed of the chip, while AMD has been more focused on power usage and chip structure. Now with Intel new duo line, it has taken over on performance and lower power consumption. It has taken them a while, but they are trying to come back. AMD has announced their plans to merge with graphic chip company ATI. I feel that this is the way to go for the future, since current chip speeds are saturated. Only thing left is more cpus on single chips. Do you think AMD is heading in the right direction, and will it be enough to make a comeback?

It's only been a battle between these 2 recently (not too recently though). There used to be more - like Cyrix, IDT, and IBM (when they made 686 clones).

It took Intel how long to finally definatively pass AMD? Like, since 1999. Their K7 and K8 has had the price and power advantage for at least 4 years, it wasn't until recently where intel had/has a surplus of cpus where the price finally became cheaper, and arguably a better value overall."

Searching for a laptop, any ideas anyone?

The laptop version of the core 2 duo only adds marginal improvement to the regular core duo - when i say marginal I mean like 7 or 8% for both power and battery life maximum. Real world performance is probably like 2 or 3%.

You arn't missing much if you decide to wait for no other reason than to upgrade to a core 2 duo.

The desktop version is another matter.

Your correct with the performance, although Merom (Core 2 for portables) does also add 64-bit support which Yonah (Core for portables) lacks.
I don't know if this is important to the OP though.

Your right about waiting as well, if Core 2 is the only reason to wait don't bother. What I meant was if you wait a bit for the coupons you might also be able to get the Core 2 processor which is fractionally better and supports 64-bit, it also shouldn't be any more expensive.

Yeah, I don't think Yonah has 64-bit extentions. The support for 64-bit sucks on most O/S except OS X and some builds of Linux.

I was being the devils advocate on this one, and suggested if [s]he wanted to jump ship now, that there wasn't much that would be lost - even if they didn't want to take advantage of the dell e-coupons; which, I would still highly recommend waiting...

I wonder if the dell laptop giveaway coupons would be stackable with the 30% coupons, which are supposed to be coming out around the same time that the giveaway coupons end. Just think, 40% off! Buahahahahaha."

what is your main use? the 2 gig ram looks pretty nice now...im assuming this is a widescreen laptop..

GRAPHICS CARD (been mentioned before...what does it come with?)

Just got this from Dell's website.

The E1705 come with:
Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950

But can be upgraded to either:
256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS

The screen on the E1705 is a 17in Widescreen.

I would wait until september

Another reason to wait would be that computers containing the new Intel Core 2 Duo processors should be coming out soon.
