After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

"Well...the most important thing in making walls (at least most important to me...and probably to others too) is the idea. I suggest that you first think of a design...what is wall going to look like basically...what are you going to put on it...where are you going to put it...what do you want to empasize (usually the character)...what is in the background...and you get the idea...After you have an idea...I usually like to draw it out to see what it would look like, to figure out placement, and (mostly in my case) so I don't forget my idea (damn STM gets me everytime ^_^) But I also like to leave room for changes and stuff just in case I feel like adding or taking away certain things (having a drawn copy also helps with this...so you have a picture of the original...and you can easily add changes and stuff without having to worry that you'll mess up the final result)
Once you have a good idea of how you want things...THEN you can search for tutorials to help you to CREATE your wallpaper...so for example...say you wanted a lake or something in your wall...so then I would go online and look for tutorials on making lakes...or find a picture to extract it...
Usually...the most popular tutorials that are look for are extracting tutorials and vectoring tutorials...I have Photoshop so I'm not really able to give you any good sites for tutorials (sorry T^T)
I hope I helped a bit...even a LITTLE bit...Oh! And I would also read the Guide here at AP so you have an idea for what is expected in a wall here...Good luck on creating! ^_^"

"Well...I think your idea is good! ^_^ I really like the wall! But I have to agree with FaDiN...please move your sig to the bottom of the wallpaper...The place where you decided to put it won't go well with the mods...But I really hope that isn't the size of your wall...because if it is...AP definitely won't except it...the minimum size that WILL be accepted is 1024x768...no less...but then again...photobucket has been known to resize their images...a lot
But keep up the good work! I think that this wall is going to be really great! ^_~"

"Hmmm...I think that you did quite a nice good here! ^_^ Just have to say...can you remove those one pixel lines on the wall that goes right through the "n" in Creating and the girl's head? I'm not sure if you did it on purpose or not...but I suggest that you get rid of them...And I would remove the "Reality" and "Dream" text...it honestly doesn't do much for the wall...
As for some vector issues...I honestly believe that this is a very good vector...except that there are a few very minor things that you could fix...mostly in the flow of the lines... here's and image reference so you could see some of the small things about your vector...I've put the notes on there too...I hope I helped! ^_^ And I'm sorry for my picky detailness...bad habit of mine...(sorry about the bad image quality of the wallpaper reference...apparently the wall was to big or something and imageshack resized it...so I went back and saved a smaller copy instead)
But this is a very nice wall indeed...I'm sure that it will get accepted! Good luck! ^_~"

"Hey! I see that you've started another wallpaper again! ^_~ Glad to see that you've decided to make another one...And I see that you've used the tutorial I gave you again too! ^_^ Nice...The sky looks great...like usual ^_~Yeah...sorry that I'm being a bit repetitive but...I'm going to have to agree with things that jrpjnoyako08 said...I agree to lose the green hills...looks like you used the clone tool just a bit too much...not to mention I think that the wallpaper would look better without them...but I'm just wondering...did you add the green hills to cover up for the bottom of the snowy moutains? Hmmm...if that's the case...I would try to move the balcony up...and maybe apply the black gradient thing to the bottom of the moutains...
As for the balcony...I think that you need to work on it a bit more like jrpjnoyako08 said...textures and shading would be nice...But I just have a suggestion...if you have the time ...maybe make it a bit more...elegant? Like this or something like this? It doesn't have to look EXACTLY like that...but a bit of a shape and some elegance wouldn't hurt...and you also don't need so many pillar things on the balcony...taking a few out wouldn't hurt...it looks a bit overcrowded right now...but definitely texture and shading would help...and also find something else for the top part of the balcony...a texture there would be good...that pattern that you used...I don't really like it...
As for the girl (Belldandy I'm guessing?) You...once again...have to complete the scan...but I've also noticed another thing...it seems that you've missed a part of the extraction...between the right tassel and her dress...part of the bg from the scan is still there...other than that...the rest of the extraction looks great! ^_^ But I'm thinking...maybe make her bigger?...so that she would be the main focus even more...I think have her head a little taller than the small moutian peak in the middle...so she would stand out more...
And yes...that would mean that you'd also have to make the balcony bigger as well to fit her size...that's where the detailing comes in ^_^ If you have a nice, detailed (with textures most likely...you could even add a design if you wish...just more work) balcony...the wallpaper would look really nice in the end! And of course you would want it to look nice right?
For the text...I'm not sure...I personally thinks it looks nice...but the one thing I will say is...your sig...you could leave it there if you want to...but if you do...I would pick a font that fits with the rest of the wallpaper...so that it doesn't look as awkward...
And this next part...it's just me being me...with all my perfectionism and detail...but on your snowy mountains...the light source is wrong...the light that shows on the moutains comes from in between the moutains...while your moon is on the left side...you could try to fix it...but that's your choice...
But I REALLY like the idea of this wallpaper...it looks SO pretty! I really can't wait for the result of this one too! ^_^ Work hard! Your efforts will definitely pay off in the end...I'm sure of it! ^_~"

Different wall sizes
3 years 3 months ago
"Yup! ^_^ You got it right! For most wallpapers...the other sizes are just shrunk down from the orginal larger one. Except for a few that aren't proportional in size...for those...you usually would either have to cut some off some of the wallpaper or add on to the sides (for widescreen that is)...But if you plan on submitting to AP...then you could just provide a large resolution like 1600x1200 (like Cagalli said) and then AP will do the rest for you ^_^ Isn't that nice of them ^_~"

Will this attempt of mine "fly"...or not?
3 years 4 months ago
"The clouds do look too real...try Gaussian Blur on it just to soften it up a bit. As for the color...I don't really like this one as much...Maybe you could try blue like what Inu said...but I personally like the creativness of the first red and green versions. You don't see those colors as the sky very otfen ^_^The lens flare still needs to be fixed a bit...I would try to remove that ring around the sun...it just doesn't look right. As for the birds...they look alright. Maybe try and make them a little more white. But the new font for the Fly at the bottom left corner looks nicer! Good job with that!
Keep on going! It's starting to look really great! ^_^"

Will this attempt of mine "fly"...or not?

"This wallpaper looks really nice! ^_^ Very nice concept...and simple too...which is sometimes better than a complex wallpaperBut I have to agree with Inuspal for a few things...
I would also remove the doves from the background...they are WAY too realistic looking compared to the bird. You could add some vectored ones in the background...but I leave that up to you seeing that you are most likely the one to vector them. And I also agree that there are a few little problems with the bird. You said that you reoutlined it right? Well...that's really interesting because the outlines look really jagged. How did you make the lines and everything? If you didn't already...I suggest trying out the pen tool...it works very well for vectors.
I actually like the many multiplies of the word Fly all over the wallpaper...but a few suggestions...the one with the shadow behind it...I like the script font and all but not the fact that it's really jagged around the edges. I recommend using a script font that is smooth to match all the "clean" fonts. And I would also change the shadow too like Inu said...either remove it or make it smaller and not as blurry.
And the script Fly in the upper right corner in the Green version...I like it...I think it fits very well so see if you could try and fit that into your final version too.
As for the background...I would try to put a bit more cloud into it. BUT NOT TOO MUCH! Don't use the cloud filter or whatever and fill the entire background with clouds! And regarding the lens flare...you could keep it but if you do...then you are going to have to make it sharper (sorry about the wording...I couldn't think of a better word) I mean the sun part looks a bit too...spread out...try to put another smaller circle inside it and blur it using the Gaussian Blur. Because when you look at the sun (for a little bit...don't hurt yourself now ^_^) But you could always see a very distinct circle shape that is slightly blurred around the edges. Then it spreads out afterwards. Like this here. Are you understanding what I'm trying to say? I've never been very good at explaining things. Or you could even put the sun behind a cloud! That would be nice! But you'd have to do a fews things such as make your own clouds (I know that you don't want to do that) or get the picture, change it up a bit, and then change the blending mode and stuff...
But even after all that rambling and stuff...I have to say that I can't wait for the result of this wallpaper! I believe that it would look very nice afterwards! ^_^ Good luck!"

PSP wallpaper designs?

"A PSP! COOL! But I'm sorry...I don't think that AP will accept wallpapers for PSP...no matter how awesome they might be. The minimum size for a wallpaper here is 1024x768...and that is definitely NOT the size of the PSP screen...But you could always make a wallpaper that is 1024x768 and then make ANOTHER one for your PSP too! Just a suggestion...^_^"

Still Trying...~Comments PLEASE~

"Actually Child-of-the-Desert, what Angelforever meant to say was to use A vector. Seeing the way that you responded...I would say that you didn't know what a vector is...Well, to keep it simple...a vector is an image that you take and recreate in order to have usually a bigger and better quality picture as the result. There are many tutorials on vectors and such here on AP and on the web. Here is the link to the vector tutorial page in Vectorness ( here)
I would try and vector the image if you could...you can see the texture on the picture and you could change the colors a bit to make it blend with the background more.
Oh..and I would keep the words...but maybe change the font...I'm not really sure to what but right now the font doesn't seems to suit it. You could keep the one on the right the same but the more visible one on the left I would change.
But I really like the concept of the wallpaper! The background looks pretty cool. It's just the scan isn't that great...
Good luck fixing it up! I can't wait to see the result! ^_^"

"Ummm...I think that both of the links are the same...I can't see a difference and the urls are the same too...As for the wallpaper that you already posted...you are going to have to clean up a scan a lot...it really blurry
And the background is all brush on top of a stock image. I would be much better if you tried to make your own background for the scan...I would try to incorporate the light post between Sakura and Syaoran into the background. But making your own background can be a bit difficult for beginners though...
Good luck on making your wall better! ^_^"

Is this vectoring good enough?
3 years 4 months ago
"Hmmm...are you sure that's a vector? It looks more like you extracted the scan and applied and few things to it to make it look better...no offense...In case you don't know...a vector is a picture that you actually created yourself. Normally in a vector...you would take a scan or something similar and redraw it (trace vectoring) in order to have a better image in the end...preferably bigger and of a better quality.
But sorry about my bad explanation...I'm not very good at explaining things...T^T"

Font problem!
3 years 4 months ago
"Actually installing the fonts are easy! ^_^ First go to the Control Panel. You can find it going to the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and press Start. The Control Panel option should be right there (if you have Windows XP...not so sure about other versions...sorry) Then in the Control Panel...click on the folder called Fonts (the icon looks like a transparent folder with the letter A in it) Once in the folder...just add the downloaded font to it and...that's it! You could test to see if the font works in Word or Photoshop...or anything similar they you might have.As for your other problem...I'm honestly not sure why that is happening...I would first check in the Fonts folder that was opened before when installing the other fonts and make sure the file is there. If it is there...then just check to make sure that is working correctly and that you didn't accidently change anything unexpectedly. (I'm not sure how much you could have changed though)
But if the font is missing...you could check in the recycle bin to see if it is there or download the font again.
But keep in mind that your computer might also have a virus or something that is doing all that...
I hope I helped a bit...sadly I don't know that much about fonts and stuff so...yeah...sorry"

"Just so you know...you HAVE to know what category it is under or else you will have more paper taken. You could request a new category though...just be careful. If it is just to get papers...you could help others on SZ with their wallpapers or comment or write stuff in other forums. Even though wallpapers are the fastest way to get papers...you risk losing just as many papers as well (not mention you have to work hard to earn those 100 papers) If you write a comment on SZ that is really long and detailed and stuff...you could easily earn 20-30 papers from that...so then...that would mean 4-5 comments and you would already have your 100 papers.
But for the wallpaper...the background is a little boring. You should put more in it. Not sure what though since I don't really know much about the scan, series, or the manual thing that you got the image from. But you should have some kind of textured background because the girl's outfit is also textured...and would probably look nice ^_^
But I would wait for other comments on what to do with the background.
And don't forget your sig at the bottom! That qualifies for an automatic rejection!
And just a note I got 25 papers for the comment ^_^"

DN Angel Paper; Attempt 3 T_T

"Honestly...I think that Lithian-Agarwaen already did full view it. Dark's upper body and arm are kinda blurry while other parts of him are not...and the same with parts of Daisuke too. I would also suggest removing the scratch things. And the left side looks cut and pasted. But either way...you are going to have to work a bit more on this because I don't think that you even extracted the scan...you just can the color a bit, blurred here and there, added the title with the words behind it, and copy and pasted the left side to fill in the empty room that wasn't there because the scan ended and started again probably on a different page.
I recommend you try either extracting the scan or vectoring first. And then create your own background."

My first wallpaper =) noobie
3 years 4 months ago
"Could you first upload your wallpaper to imageshack please? It seems that photobucket either shrank your wallpaper or the size is wrong. It would be easier to comment if we see it at the full size ^_^But from what I can see so far...the idea looks cool. It just that the entire wallpaper is too filtered. It would look awesome if it was clearer. So NO FILTERS!
I'm not really sure what the abstract stuff in the background looked like before the filter...but if it wasn't great to begin with...you should try vectoring the background. I might be a bit difficult though...and would be really time consuming, but the results would be amazing! (if done right of course)
And your sig has to be on the bottom where it would be hidden by the taskbar. And I would put your entire username...not just the first part.
Good luck fixing it up! ^_^ I would really nice when done!"

Need Help With A Scan
3 years 4 months ago
"Is the distortion that you are talking about the artifacts all over the image? I use Photoshop so I'm not sure but...it might be the quality that you are saving your picture at. The lower the quality of the image...the more artifacts and other stuff present. Next time when you save...try saving at the highest quality possible (even though the file often times gets really big depending on the dimensions of the picture). You could also try different file types like instead of using jpeg (or .jpg) use .png or .tiff maybe even .gif. But always make a copy of the image and save in the new format so in case it comes out worse...you won't have to worry about having to fix up the bad copy.I hope I helped...and if the problem isn't the artifacts...then can you be a bit more specific?"

vector
3 years 4 months ago
"Actually...vector means the complete opposite of that. It is actually to make the image crisper and LESS blurry. The point of doing a vector is to take an image with bad quality or is really small and then basically redraw it at a bigger and better quality. Here's a link to a vectoring tutorial thread in the Vectorness Group: here
You could explore a bit and look at the before and after shots of the original and the new vectored image.
You could also find a true definition of the word in an online dictionary or something."

"I like the changes! ^_^ But the sky bothers me a bit...I mean...it totally looks cool and everything but...it just doesn't seem to blend in with the rest of the wall. But if you do decide to keep it the way it is...I would erase the extra lens flares between D and the moon and the bit towards the right of the moon. I think that when you use a lens flare for the stars...you just keep the bright dot and erase the rest (I'm not positive though)But the red is hot...I like it...very...dramatic. But the sky...the colors don't seem to go with the red of the moon and blade. I'm sorry...just my opinion though. See what others think.
But it looks like you're almost done! ^_^ "

"<stares> Avatars? Do you mean wallpaper? Or a scan? If the background for the image is white...it is probably a vector or reCG someone submitted under the scan gallery. Could you give a link to the image? It would probably help. But if it is a vector under the scan gallery...then by all means...download it and make a wallpaper!
But a link really would be helpful.
And just so you know...an avatar is a little image that appears under your name when posting and stuff. In your case...the thing that says N8 and has the bit of fire coming off the end. And for me, my avatar has the monkey on it and says "Bow Down to the Monkey"."
