Welcome to the site. Don't worry man you don't necessarily need to be great at drawing to make good wallpapers! Just some common sense and good taste ;]
For advice, keep your eye on the 'session zero' forum and take a look at advice offered to people there, it can be quite helpful! also, look up tutorials on the internet for the specific program you use to get hints and tips on techniques. Aside from that, just find inspiration! theres plenty of amazing scans and wallpapers on this site.

Alichino wallpaper attempt

" Hey man.
A few things. The scan in the foreground is kinda looking worse for ware. It doesn't look cut out particularly well and the ghostly visages of him spoil the background a bit. Not that background is done particularly well either though buddy. Its simple, but not in a good way, the thick lines that crisscross distract attention from your main image because they're the same colour and the images captured inside the lines are quite bland.

The font however is an excellent choice for what what looks like a quite gothic wallpaper, however, it isn't enough to redeem the not so great qualities of the piece.

To summarize: either clean up the scan or Vector it[I recommend vectoring, it looks a lot cleaner]. Then think about the background and the overall layout of the wallpaper. Im not big on Gothic themes but Im sure you could make this work if you put your mind to it and don't be lazy[Its hard I know, this stuff can take awhile].

I don't own a Mac but I use one at school, I absolutely hate it. There are so many bugs, barely any hard drive space, half the time don't turn on, and you can't run anything on them. They're horrible. >.<
