After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

I wish i had a treaddmill. I can do all of my morning routine save the cardio portion. It sucks. At least I have an ipod.

I love Monday TV. House, Lie To Me, Castle, Trauma. Possibly the best day of the week.

Like I said earlier, I don't want to look at "CHILDhood" pictures. That includes little girls.

Subs or Dubs?

3 years 6 months ago

"I think the anime industry has vastly improved on dubs in the last few years ago. A while back atrocious dubs like Lost Universe and Slayers were common but lately I have found more good dubs than bad dubs. I'm not saying all dubs are perfect, as there are a lot that still bother me but the ratio is vastly improved. Funimation (Full Metal Alchemist and Kodocha) and ADV (Yugo and Fumoffu) have improved the most over the past few years. ADV, responsible for many of the worst dubs of all-time, has a very talented voice staff. Geneon has been the strongest overall in the dub department. Bandai is very hit and miss, Bebop is great but Crest of the Stars makes me sad.

Kodocha is the anime that really impressed me. I never thought anyone could properly dub Sana but Laura Bailey does an amazing job. I actually watch the dub because I like how well she does this role and despite the fact that I don't like Hayama's English VA at all. "

Most Useless Anime Characters

3 years 6 months ago

"Marin from DBZ is the all-time most useless character. She is only in a few episodes (thank god) and is Krilin's girlfriend. Everytime she would appear she would somehow annoy me. Its been like 5 years since I last saw an episode of DBZ (thank god, again) and I still remember her name despite the fact that she was a bit characters. Even Bulma finds some ways to help, occasionally.

In Sakura's defense (Tsubasa one) she did lose all her memories and is just re-learning about the world. She also is not a fighting character in the Tsubasa series but more of a motivational tool for Li. She also tries to help out when she can and does have some mysterious power which has played a role in a few of the manga arcs. So I would not call her useless. "

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

"This show is definatly one of my favorites from the season. Love the characters , especially Haruhi and Mikiru. In episode 3 Haruhi seemed to really break Mikiru, which was sad and cute at the same time if thats possible. I love how Haruhi will use whatever is necesarry in order to obtain what she wants. I also enjoy the mytseries that surround the characters.

Great, great, great show so far. Hope it keeps this up."

"One I forgot to mention in my earlier list was the Cowboy Bebop movie. Most movies based off a series aren't very good but this one is an exception. Surprised I forgot it, considering how many times I have rewatched it. "

"I enjoyed the anime until the end, which I thought was very average. The series was good and I loved the animation of the show but the story was messed up.

Having read 7 of 8 volumes of the manga I am confident to say that the manga is a lot better. The anime story and the manga story are different in many parts. Some parts are handled better by the anime but overall the manga story is a lot better than the anime storyline. I'm eagerly awaiting Chrono 8 so I can finish off the manga. Hopefully ADV releases it sometime in the next year. "

Elfen Lied

3 years 7 months ago

"The series is certainly not for younger audiences, or people who are sensitive to mature content, or people who have or may someday heart problems. Some side effects of the show are nausea, shock, amnesia and running around your house yelling Nyuu.

With that said I enjoyed Elfen Lied. That was not the case in the beginning. Around episode 4 I almost dropped the show because of some of the content. I decided to stick with it because some of my friends kept telling me ho good it was. In the end it was one of the better series I saw that year (2004). It had some great character development and a good story, you just had to get past the splatter and random nudity.

And while I did enjoy the show it is not one I choose to own, because its not one I could rewatch over and over."

The best Movie

"Some of my favorites are:

Nauiscaa ~ Valley of the Wind - A tremendous movie that stands the test of time. It is over 20 years old and still looks good.

Spirited Away - The best of the recent Ghibli movies. This movie is a joy to watch.

Millenium Actress - Satoshi Kon's best work by far, and probably the best non-Ghibli movie.

Whisper of the Heart - One of the overlooked Ghibli titles (if thats possible). It has a great story, great characters, and great dialogue.

Place Promised in Our Early Days - Brilliant movie that I just can't seem to watch enough times.

Other good movies:

Tenchi in Love 1 (Tenchi movie 1)
Princess Mononoke
My Neighbor Totoro
Vampire Hunter D ~ Bloodlust
Grave of the Fireflies"

"It is indeed based on a manga. So far the manga is up to 5 volumes long in Japan. I am not sure whether or not it is still coming out. Last volume was released in February of this year so there is a chance that it is still being released.

The anime was based on the first volume, I think. Have only read 1 chapter of the manga so I'm basing my answer off a blog I read. "

i totally agree...dubs are horrible...they speak all weird the...translations are sometimes changed...sometimes, even the pictures are modified so it wont be so bloody...dubs have got to be the worst things ever! i mean its a lot easier to just watch it in jap and with or without subtitles and it will still be better then those crappy dubs they put on the tv like on ytv and teletoon...^_^

You are basing your arguement on anime which aired on TV? The question unless I read it wrong is on subs vs. dubs. Editing is a whole different issue. "

Kanon - 10, 11, 12 were all pretty depressing IMO.

Subs or Dubs?

"Either dubs are getting better or I am getting less picky in my old age. A few years ago I wouldn't watch a single anime in English unless: there was someone forcing me to or I had no choice. Nowadays I'm a lot more open to watching either one. It usually depends on who I am watching anime with and what I am watching. I still prefer anime in Japanese but there are some exceptions.

Anime I prefer in English: Yugo, Hellsing, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, and more

Kodocha, another anime I have watched a lot recently, is a mixed bag. Laura Bailey does a great job as Sana but whoever voices Hayama in the English version (same VA as Kyou in Fruits Basket) doesn't sound like he is 12, sounds closer to 24. "

"This was one of my surprise anime from the winter season. Didn't hear a lot of hype about this one before it release but fell in love with it when I saw the first episode. The two main characters, Aka and Matsumaru, had a very interesting and fun relationship. The highlights for me in this show were:

Those were just the highlights of the show for me. There were many other fun and dramatic moments but those were the ones that really stood out for me.

Oh and I also loved the Audrey Hepburn quotes and old movie references. Not sure why as I haven't seen most of the movies, but just liked the way in which the show added them in. "

"This is one anime I'm not sure on. In any other season I would probably just watch it cause I'm curious but with so many new anime this season it may be tough to keep up on this one. On one hand I like the mercenary characters, they seem like a fun bunch, and the action is good too. On the other hand I don't really like the whiney salary man, and I''m questionable where the story is going to go in this one.

I probably will check out episode 2, so I can make a final decision on whether its worth keeping up on. "

Ah! My Goddess 2nd Season!

3 years 7 months ago

"So far the 2nd season has started right where the 1st season left off. Jumped right into the story after the Lend of episode 24 of season 1. Episode 1 did a good job of wrapping up that storyline as well as strengthening the bond between Keiichi and Belldandy. Episode 2 then focused on one of the side characters, Sayako, while also throwing in some more good Bell/Kei moments.

I can't compare either series to the manga, as I have not read it yet. Price is a little more than I can afford at this point and I already have enough stuff to read. Plus I hate collecting anything Dark Horse releases, which may be the reason I currently down any manga released by them. "

[Anime Discussion] I''s Pure

3 years 7 months ago

"I''s has been a series I've been interested in for some time but never really got into it. I saw the original OVAs many years ago and enjoyed them but wasn't blown away by them. Years later the manga began coming out in the US but at first I put off buying the manga because I heard Viz had edited it. A few months or maybe a year later I saw the first episode of I''s Pure and this time the anime did blow me away. I love the art, the characters, and the story so far (so pretty much everything). I have since seen the 2nd and 3rd episodes and am still loving this series. My favorite character is definatly Itsuki. I know most people probably prefer Iori but even back in the original OVA I liked Itsuki better and nothing has changed. Maybe its because I always prefer Itsuki's character type more than Iori's character type.

After seeing I''s Pure I finally caved in and bought the manga. I have only read a little bit of volume so far but am enjoying it so far. Seems like volume 1 is going at the same pace as the first volume of Pure.

In conclusion, I liked the original anime, love Pure, and am enjoying the manga so far. Maybe next they will do a Video Girl Ai Pure :). "

Shakugan no Shana

"Shana manages to keep getting better and better. Episode 8 blew me away. The production quality was top notch, best so far in the series. I also like how Shana's character has developed, especially how she is around Yuuji. Episode 8 emphasized how much Shana has grown in just a few eipsodes. Think it was episode 5 where she was easily defeated by Majorie but in 8 she doesn't even struggle against her. She also seems to be more collected during battle, which really helped her. Finally she went in with a plan, as evidenced by Yuuji possessing the ring.

Going to go home and watch 9. Looks like a fanservice episode, so may be a little disappointing after episode 8.

Overall this anime has really surprised me, I really didn't like it much after the first two but its gotten a lot better since then. "

"I am enjoying Canvas 2. I am not a big fan of harem anime but this one has enough to keep me interested. As of episode 8 it is clear who the main character (Hiroki) really likes and I'm really hoping he and Kiri end up together. I am interested to see Hiroki draw again and I want to know what stopped him from drawing in the first place. I also want to see if Elis gets over her fear of the color red.

The anime isn't one of the best titles I've seen this year but it has been good and I look forward to seeing more.

Oh and I have been trying to download the original Canvas but have not had much luck. "

Do you believe in Ghosts?

4 years 1 week ago

"I have never seen a ghost but I do believe they exist in this world. I have a good friend who claims to have seen ghosts in his former house. I also have heard stories from other friends/family with similar experiences. I also just went on a school trip to the local historical society and heard some interesting stories from my teacher. Apparantly the historical society used to be a place for people to go when they had no money. One building in particular, the place where they stuck all the insane people, is said to be haunted. I did not see or feel anything when I was there, but apparantly paranormal experts did find stuff when they investigated the house. "

OCTOBER '05 RELEASE DISCUSSION

4 years 1 week ago

"Lets see what have I watched recently, well a lot to be honest.

Here is how I rank the series so far this season

Blood+ (5) - This show has just been solid so far. Unlike the original, this anime gives Saya a human side.

Hana-Yori Dango live-action (2) - I know its live-action so it shouldn't be in this list, but I'm really liking this show. I even like it more than the HYD anime at this point.

Nahoha A's (4) - All the good parts about the first season, with even more action. The characters and action are probably my favorite part of the show. Even the current villians are interesting.

Canvas 2 (6) - Episode 6 was the worst one yet but I still have high hopes for the show. Only good part of 6 was that Kiri got some screentime. Overall I like the show and hope to see more resolution of the main characters' conflicts.

Jigoku Shoujo (2) - I liked 2 even more than 1. The episode was very interesting and I felt very bad for the main girl. She did everything she could but in the end had to sacrifice her sould to survive.

Mai-Otome (5) - Still not as good as My-Hime but has been getting better in recent episodes. I think this one will be pretty good once it gets going.

Shakugan no Shana (5) - This show has gotten better with each episode. The new girl was pretty cute and it looks like she will be sticking around for the remainder of the show.

Karin (1) - The first episode was interesting and I think this one could be very interesting. The premise is very interesting, a vampire who cannot drink blood but instead donates blood. I like anime with whacky premises (Midori no Hibi. Law of Ueki) so this should be my kind of show. BTW, the main guy reminds me of Seiji from Midori no Hibi.

Mushishi (2) - Show is super weird but I am still enjoying it. Episode 2 had a very good story and I was glad to see it ended all right. Not sure how the show will end but so far I'm liking it.

Black Cat (5) - This show is still just barely watchable. I was starting to get into it in episode 4, but 5 was very blah. I still hold out hope that it will get better at some point. Hopefully I am not wrong.

Paradise Kiss (2) - I wasn't craxy about 1 but 2 was a little better. This is another show that is starting slow but I think it could get better. I would still rather have more Honey and Clover but this will do for now.

Lamune (1) - Pretty weak first episode but will try a few more. Seems like either a blah romantic comedy or a blah harem anime. Either way the main guy is obnoxious and is annoying me.

If its not on this list, I dropped it (Cluster Edge, Animal Yokocho) or have not watched it yet (Ginban Kaleidoscope, Noien)

"Mai Otome still hasn't been that interesting IMHO. Then again, other than episode 1, the first few episodes of Mai-Hime were not that good either. Hopefully Otome will pick up once the actually story comes more to the forefront.

I'm also not overly crazy about Black Cat yet but will keep watching because I think it could get interesting, same with Shakigan no Shana.

Mushisi was pretty strange and confusing but its another one that could be really good.

Nanoha A's, Canvas 2, Blood+, and Jigoku Shoujo are probably my favorites so far. I'm still a little worried about Jigoku Shoujo, as it seems like a hard story to keep going for 26 episodes. "

"I haven't read the manga, though I should since my friend burned it all on cd for me. I do however enjoy the anime, though I do admit its flawed. The TV series animation is kinda ugly and the story is pretty standard harem. Still its got great characters, especially Nishino who is my favorite. Toujo is nice eye candy but her personality kinda annoys me. Yui and the bossy chick also annoy me.

In summary, only reason I really watch is for Nishino. "

"I just finished the first season today and I must say that I absolutely loved it. CCS is probably my favorite anime ever, so no surprise that I enjoyed this one. I like Sakura and Syaoran even better in this anime, especially their relationship. There are a lot of very emotional moments in each episode involving these two.

I cannot wait till season and am happy/surprised to find there will also be a season three. Looks like it may be even longer than CCS.

Hopefully someone will upload the movie during the down time. 6 months without Tsubasa would be really hard. "

OCTOBER '05 RELEASE DISCUSSION

"I have seen a good number of the new shows (would be more if I had a more stable Internet coonection)

After 1-3 episodes here is how I rank the shows

Blood+ (2) - Didn't like the original much but this series is so good

Nanoha (1) - Did like the original a lot and lovin the sequal so far. Should have 2 soon

Jigoku Shoujo (1) - Really liked 1. Reminds me a lot of Boogiepop Phantom.

Canvas 2 (3) - Not usually my thing but I like this a lot. Characters are cute and there sort of is a story

Mai Otome (2) - Loved Mai-Hime so I expect this one to get better

Aria (1) - Its slice of life and has pretty animation so I like it. Not sure how it will go but liked episode 1.

Shakigan no Shana (2) - Could go either way, will keep watching for now

Black Cat (2) - Kinda blah but could get better. The characters are interesting, just kinda confused at this point.

Paradise Kiss (1) - Wish they just made more Honey and Clover, didn't like episode 1 of this one at all

Animal Yokocho (1) - Probably a good anime, if you are 5 years old.

Cluster Edge (1) - Total sausage fest. Don't like this one at all.

Never did get: Ginban Kaleidscope (wanna see), Noien (also wanna see), Mushisi (really wanna see)

Oh and I must agree with you Hostile, I'm really enjoying Petopeto. Can't wait to see more. Its a quirky and strange show but I really enjoy it. As for Kamichu, I never got around to watching it, though I would like to one day.
