Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

"The sad part is, as awesome as your tips were... I didn't understand half of it, lol. I'm afraid I'm a poor excuse of a graphic maker. I have no idea if PSP has a burn tool even... I'll have to look into that.The background really only had signifigance because it's actually from the series. I didn't really have a theme exactly, I was just making sort of like a general Princess Tutu wall (which is why the cogs have all the characters), or else I'd never have used the logo (the logo is the thing I hate most... it's just that it took me so long to get the stupid thing right I hated to cut it out, lol). White and black is a good theme for Princess Tutu, I really appreciate that input. The feathered hair on top of the girl on the left's head wasn't changed any (I don't think I lightened it at all); unfortunatly since it came from a series of screenshots, that's sort of just how she looked in the scene I cropped together. I'll have to work on trying to clean that up as you've suggested. There was sort of like a light/glow on her that made editing a pain.
And I will remember to convert, I know PNG isn't accepted here, I just already had it in PNG for showing off, so I kept that just to get opinions. I figured JPG would be my final step when I'm completly happy with it, if that's possible. Thanks so much for input :D It was very helpful. I hate to take the cogs out... but you're both right, they really are quite unnecessary (unless you understand the signifigance of it from the very ending of the series, which most probably wouldn't). I suppose even making the cogs alternate between Kraehe and Tutu (the two girls in the wall) would probably just look out of place."

"I'd love to try to make them dancing on water... but I'm so not skilled enough. I'm really pretty bad at this, especially considering how long I've actually had Paint Shop Pro 7 (it's probably not the best editing program but it's the only one I know how to use... I fear change, lol). I'm tryinig to learn new things and go with a new style of making graphics... but everything I try turns out horridly wrong. They always end up over-crowded messes, lol.I hadn't thought about the background being too dark for Tutu (the girl on the right), but you're probably right. I think all the background choices I have a dark though; Princess Tutu (the series) is kinda dark, lol.
Thanks for your opinion. I'd love any more thoughts, but I'll probably end up scrapping this... I need to try to read up and try to experiment with learning things. I'm getting a new computer soon, maybe I'll look into new software and trying to figure new stuff out, though change is so wrong, lol."

Need help with my Princess Tutu Wall

"I haven't made many wallpapers (this is my first Princess Tutu attempt) and even fewer that I think actually turned out ok (ok by my standards, not really ok by the awesome walls I've seen around here). And the more and more I look at this wall, the more I hate it... so I thought I'd maybe get some tips/opinions here.Click for Wall
It's the only resolution (my Resolution) I have right now, although I'd probably try to make more resolutions later if I don't scrap it. And I know, only .jpg is accepted here to submit. I kept it .png while I'm still tweaking and whatnot, I'll convert it to .jpg if anyone would prefer to see what it looks like that way (I just figured .png was probably better quality).
I orgionally was only going to have Tutu in this wall, but I thought it would be nice to show both of Princess Tutu's resident Princesses. But I couldn't find any good scans I thought I could use for this (actually... I don't think I have ANY scans of Kraehe save for one of her dancing with Mytho) of Kraehe. So that's not actually a scan (as you can tell by quality), but a series of screencaps put together (I saw the same scene in another wall... I tried to find another scene of Kraehe, one that fit better here, to use so I wasn't using the exact same scene as someone else. But in all others she makes her enterance twirling, which I thought would be too difficult to try to paste together properly. So I used this scene, but I did it all myself, from capturing the vid to make the individual screenies, and everything). And the Tutu scan isn't the one I'd picked in the beginning. But with Kraehe's arm raised like that, I thought this scan fit better.
I dislike this more and more as I look at it. I don't even remember what my origional plan for this was; I just know I wanted to try putting cogs together as a border that sort of looked like they were intertwining in a machine. I fear I failed at that. I just thought I'd get some opinions and see if there's anything to make this concept work or if it should just be scrapped."

"I'm really liking your new background (except of course for the star, as has been mentioned... it seems kind of... blurry and off). Although I'm not usually a fan of really bright bgs... I love vibrant colors but sometimes it's too much for me. But that's just me.I think your new bg is coming along really well (I didn't really care for either of the first two. The dark one was just... yeah. The first one was ok, but needed work as was mentioned).
I have like no suggestions as to what anime/character might go good with that wall. I'm generally not one for bright or bubbly things... And that background is definitely suited for someone bouncy/bubbly, lol. What animes do you like, and would enjoy walling? You should consider that before asking for suggestions, since the animes I like probably don't mesh with your tastes (and like the only "bubbly" characters I've ever liked are Momiji from Fruits Basket and Shiuchi [he's sort of bubbly in his own special little way] from Gravitation). "I think dylkim is being a little too harsh. You can give criticism (which is what this part of the forum's is all about) without being out right mean...That said though, I do agree with some aspects (just not the personal, "out right mean" ones). I wasn't 100% certain that that was Rukia when I saw it. But I've never seen the other anime dylkim says its from, so I'll have to take your word on that being Rukia. But even if it is... I don't feel like that image of Rukia meshes well with your image of Renji. They just seem... off. I can't help you with the technical aspects (because I probably have zero talent and will be the first to admit it). So this is definitely a total "rookie, non-expert" humble opinion. They just... don't seem to fit too well together to me.
I do see the editing problems on Renji's hair (I hate trying to extract pictures with spikey hair... it NEVER turns out for me because I know almost nothing about how to work my graphic program). Extracting scans is like insane to me; I have so much respect for those that can manage, because like I said... I'm terrible. So if it helps, you did like 50 times better of a job at difficult extractions then I could manage, lol. I also have some issues with the characters being outlined in black. Were the scans like that or did you add it? It just makes the image seem so... disjointed to me, like they can't flow together. Then again, I can't picture what it would look like without the outing so it could be awful, lol. I'm just finicky in some ways. I definitely does make them stand out better... but being as I don't really go with the "rules" of walling, and more what I just feel looks right... I don't know if that's a good thing or not.
At any rate, I think you did a good job. I think I'd work on the scan extractions, but me personally... I'd go with a different photo for Rukia. I know that would change the whole wall and it's whole concept... but I just don't like those two together, and again, I also doubted that being Rukia. But don't get me wrong. I like it. I just feel they don't go together as best as they could."

"See... I liked the origional version. And oddly enough, your apparent "bad" first alternative (the darker image). But I'm afraid I couldn't be much help. My wall was rejected due to "image quality" issues too, siting the scan needs cleaned... and I thought it was perfectly fine. So I couldn't say exactly what AP is looking for. I think others can help you more with that.Unfortunatly, I liked the rejected copy the most, so I can't imagine I'm much help. I would go with the suggestion to add some interesting text (something besides Saber's name... maybe a saying or a quote or something? I never watched Fate so I know nothing of the show). And technical terms of filters, etc... totally lost on me. I guess the orgional does seem to have some issues with not blending in to the background. But I guess I'm strange. I don't like things just because of their "awesome effects and blending." I just like what I like. So I'm not much help. Sorry. But best of luck! If it means anything, I thought you did a great job :)"

"I personally love the main font, I think it suits the background well. As with everyone else, I agree you need to change the sig font. But honestly I personally don't think I'd change much else. I always end up with clutter when I try to change one thing. Can't stop myself (and that's why I've never made an AP worthy wall, lol). So I say, fix the sig font, and it's perfect. But that's me. I love the wall, and the coloring... I'd hate to see it complicated. You did a wonderful job as is."View

"I had my first wallpaper submission rejected too, so I can't imagine I could be much help as to what exactly AP is looking for. And all the technical terms of walling... yeah, I don't get them. I'm pretty new to it myself.I would definitely agree that the "icons" or whatever at the left aren't needed, at least not if you're only going to have the same face in both. They are distracting, but they could have potential if you used a different image in them. I like the background. I don't think it doesn't match the character, but again... that's apparently not my strong suit. You made a simplistic background, but with awesome colors, so I'd say it shouldn't be rejected but... I don't know. What reason did the rejection notice say? I'd say start with that and editing the "icons" then go from there."
