The amount of patience, hard work and an eye for quality is what defines this wallpaper. Character is painstakingly vectored off a real life toy image with references to screenshots. Despite the difficulty level, ~pvc24 still manages to nicely depict the image in anime fashion and yet able to find the mental strength to come up with a background composition that is both aptly fun and pleasant in atmosphere.

I love dramas! Both Japanese and Korean ones. I'm currently watching a Korean drama called Goong which is based off of the manga. It might be an addiction I suppose, lol. But I always watch it after I'm done with my work and stuff.


I haven't seen that many j-dramas (only GTO live action and Hana Yori Dango live action) because I don't really know names to look for, and I've never seen a k-drama yet...only k movies which I love.
I've seen a few Taiwanese live actions which I really like, and I'm hoping to start checking out good Japanese and Korean ones...I think I'll try Goong, so thanks to asashi for the recommendation!

"Well, I don't think there were really ever any "sad" moments although there's definitely a lot of emotional moments the further along you go in the manga...there's definitely plenty of funny parts thrown in even at the end too...I agree that it's a fun manga to read"

"I just finished reading the manga, but I watched the anime a while ago
When I finished the anime, I was really disappointed and upset at the ending and grabbed the last volume of the manga to confirm that it was really the same
However, now that I've read the entire manga, I feel like the manga did a better job leading up to the ending than the anime did...especially since it was easier to see into the characters' minds in the manga than in the anime
I actually find myself almost liking the ending now.

Does anyone else have similar feelings about the anime v. manga?

I actually am an equal fan of the character designs in the anime and the manga...I feel like the anime was fairly faithful to the manga even with some simplifications (I actually prefer the humorous faces in the anime because of the animated quality and I love the little animated extras that are thrown in)
Perhaps it is because I saw the anime first though so I didn't go in with expectations"

I love MARS, especially because for the most part, it is a 'normal' love story. Aside from the characters' own pasts, there is nothing especially outstanding about the world they live in.

I'm working on buying the entire series, it was beautiful.


Yeah...I'd love to buy the whole series as well...but sigh...buying manga is such a cash investment...wish I could buy all the series I want *dreamily*"

It's like looking in a mirror.

The kind you'd find in a haunted funhouse of mockery.


Aww...it can get kinda painful to watch...but just roll with it and enjoy laughing at yourself with friends

Oh, I've read some of the Mars books! It's really very good, I agree. ^^ I haven't completed the series yet, but it's quite good to read, in my opinion. I think there's a gaiden, if I recall...a story involving Rei and Tatsuya (how they met each other and became friends and how they met the girls, etc.)



Yea, Mars Gaiden is a prequel about Rei and Tatsuya in middle school...it's only one volume though...I haven't had a chance to read it myself

Wonder if they will make an anime out of it...I kinda like the liveaction quality though...it's nice to have real motorcycles :D"

"Indeed...josei refers to "woman" as opposed to girl "shoujo" ...although it's a little hard to draw the line exactly...I think very few popular series are being marketed as josei outside Japan (at least right now...maybe it'll become more common)
Of course, Mars is still pretty shoujo in plot, characters

The artwork is indeed absolutely gorgeous...Cedahlia, you should definitely get the live-action drama (it's 21 hour long episodes)...the casting seems to be decent"

"I agree with kenichi...although Genshiken really connects with those of us who already appreciate anime and manga...it'll probably frighten away other people :)
In any case, I think the humor is definitely better when you can relate it to your own experiences...
A better anime introduction would be a Miyazaki movie or more classic series "

"I would definitely be excited if there was a second season of Genshiken...I really enjoyed the first season but I do agree that character development and growth took a long time, especially for a 13 episode series. I didn't mind the speed; I think that added to both the humor and the realism of the characters, but I did wish it didn't end when it did. There are definitely a lot more stories they could tell with any of the characters.

It also really made me want to visit Japan...so for all those of you who actually can go...so jealous!
Haven't been to a con either, and missed a recent chance to go.

Although I liked the Kujibiki Unbalance music a lot, I can't agree that it would be really worth a full series. I wasn't the hugest fan of the characters, and after watching one episode of the OVA, I wasn't that intrigued.

"I recently read this amazing manga, Mars by Fuyumi Soryo, and completely fell in love with all the characters, plot, and art style.
For those of you who haven't heard of it, Mars is the beautiful and sometimes tragic sometimes uplifting story of Kira (an amazing but introverted artist) and Rei (a badboy who races professionally)

I just started watching the Taiwanese live action drama version of the manga...which (despite the weak acting skills of popular actors) promises to be faithful to the manga.

Just wondering if there were other Mars fans and whether any of them has seen the live action as well?
Wish there was an anime too...
