After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

"I'd just go and start with the shape layer method. It has about the same learning curve as stroke but it just takes more effort but it's worth it.In any case you'd need to get the curves flow better and more natural. Take an example, the left part of her hair (our right side), they look "shaky" but hair's supposed to flow naturally and straight. Hair ends should be sharp instead of like "U" shape. Another obvious example would be her boots. There are probably too many unnecessary anchor points which is why her boots outlines don't look smooth.
That's all I could say for now. But yea I'd still say go with shape layers method. It doesn't really take that whole lot more effort than path stroking..."

"Just do it manually is what I'd say.The best way to understand to see the difference is to check out some of the beautiful vectors out there. Then you'd understand. If auto-trace works then there wouldn't be so many people vectoring manually now :)"

"Here's a little what I think.-The curves are generally pretty smooth, however there are still parts that don't look very nice. Eg. Her thumb (one part is a little straight), her mouth, her pinky (a little too straight as well), etc.
-You might want to give some lighting, either that or some colour variation. Her clothes are too bland as of now, and you might want to add more colour tones to her hair.
-The background is probably temporary, but yea it's a little too simple as of now."

"If you take a look on the whole picture you should be able to see you'd need to improve the smoothness of the curves a whole lot more. They need to flow more naturally."View

"Hm I personally didn't like the varying thickness on her white shirt, although that's probably a personal preference. And you might want to give alittle some colour gradients to make things a little less stiff. But that depends on the style of wall and the background you want to blend as well."

Vectored wallpaper?
1 year 9 months ago
"The vectors that are accepted into scans have no background, it is usually just a character vector. So to get a vector accepted as a wallpaper, all you have to do is to turn it into a wallpaper. That would mean to have the vectored character with a background (vectored or painted or anything) that it blends into."

"It looks mighty fine : ) Probably one more hair shadow tone, and a few more hair light (those shiny hair bits) the hair are probably good to go. Although you might want to add in some extra outlines on the right side (our right side) of her hair, to show how the strands extend from the head. For now they lack the outlines going into the head, so they just kind of pop out from her hair (compare to the left side, our left side of her hair, those hair have outlines extending onto her head). There isn't much angular curve problem that I can see, although there's one small part, the hair strand right next to her right eye (our left side), is a little messy, probably caused by unnecessary anchor points.
The thickness issue isn't extremely obvious/bad, the only part that is significantly thicker in a glance would be where she tie up her hakama at her waist.
Good luck vectoring it and creating a bg, I am sure it'll turn out fine : )"

"Hm, I think it's just the style, it's too artsy for my taste ><. There's nothing really wrong with the wallpaper I think... But I guess it just feels like a drawing you'd see in art exhibition centre more so than an anime wallie? All just my very humble opinion ><. I am sure there are people who like this kind of style."View

"The shadows are pretty fine, anime style clothing shadows are usually pretty stiff.I am no expert, but here's a few things I think about the vector:
-I find her right hand (our left side), a bit weird. There should be more curves from the arm to her hand (it's like almost straight now), and her fingers - her thumb is a wee bit little weird. And her left hand (our right side), well if you look closely it just feels like the fingers are bit off.
Another important advice that I got when I started vectoring is that while it is good to have the ability to vary the thickness of the outlines in vectoring, it's always a good practice to try to keep them consistent. If the outline thickness varies in a great deal (unintentionally), it usually doesn't turn out too well."
