Trick or Treat by °chanelqueen17 1 month 1 week ago

^nat
After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

`alenas 17 minutes ago
No, no, you can't put links directly from your folders on your computer. You have to upload your content to a image hosting site like ImageShack or Photobucket. Then provide the link.

What is a good lie?

4 months 1 week ago

"I strongly value honesty, and strive to tell the truth whenever possible, but sometimes a lie just needs to be told. Is this a good thing? No. Does it bother me that I have now essentially betrayed myself? Yes. But on the same token, I can't obsess over it because I'm human, and no human is perfect. Sometimes I think lies come about because of tact; you don't want to make a situation worse by telling the direct truth, so you tell a little white lie to keep the situation from blowing up in your face. For example, say a friend of mine drew a horrible picture. She asks me what I think. Now, I'm not going to completely discourage her creative expression, especially since practice could potentially make her much better. So I tell a white lie and say, "It's pretty good, but you may want to try [insert advice here] next time."

I guess it's a situational thing whether I see lying as "horribly bad" or a "necessary evil""

How does you family feel about Anime?

4 months 1 week ago

"When Gundam Wing and Rurouni Kenshin used to be on Cartoon Network (man, saying that makes me feel old since that was a good decade ago), my brother and I would watch them together. But once they stopped airing those two shows, my brother ceased to watch anime. He just couldn't be bothered. I, however, just seemed to get more and more into the genre. So I guess I didn't begin as a cultural pioneer, but it ended up becoming that way? I don't mind it though - they don't hassle me about it at all, so it's all good ( []-[])9 emoticon"

Kuroshitsuji wall.

"I think getting rid of the text helped. My other suggestion would be, instead of that African savanna silhouette you have near the bottom, some sort of city scene would be better. If you could find something involving Big Ben, that would make it perfect (in my humble opinion). Otherwise I think it looks excellent. I think the colors you chose work very well together with the particular picture of Sebastian and Ciel that you used. "

March to their own drum

4 months 1 week ago

"My friends are always telling me that I seem to be a big fan of random anime. What exactly do they mean? They're talking about the fact that I really enjoy anime that next to no one else has heard of. They just never entered mainstream media for some reason. Examples would be Kaze no Stigma and Hatenkou Yugi. I found both to be fun series, though neither lasted more than one season. The story-lines were interesting and the characters spastic. I'm still not sure why there are so few people who liked these series.

Anyone else here find themselves liking those kind of anime? If so, which ones have you enjoyed?"

Do you laugh alone in the street?

4 months 1 week ago

"Hahaha, I do this all the time. Sometimes I don't necessarily laugh, but this huge grin with suddenly spread across my face as I'm walking somewhere, and out of the corner of my eye I can see people giving me confused looks. But I figure it's all good - it makes sense to me anyway!"

"I didn't say that I found the fact that you said it was a small issue insulting. What I find insulting is the fact that you act condescendingly for the fact that I brought it up. If it's a small issue that probably won't be fixed, say it like that. "At this time, there is a possibility there is a bug, but since it is a minor issue is it not one the site will focus on." THAT is dealing strictly with fact. Your own subjective response comes through from your syntax, and that is what I find insulting.

I will apologize for assuming you said I was spamming, that is indeed my own false reading of what you said. But I won't apologize for being upset at the way you answered my question."

Critique please...!!

4 months 1 week ago

"I think they look rather good as they are, because you don't have them on the same plane. You have some behind and in front of others, so you've added depth to the image. Perhaps though, to make it feel a bit more haphazard as I'm guessing was the intent, you could have some of the pictures running off the wallpaper, to look like they are laid out even farther from the view we're seeing.

In addition, I don't think you need to worry about the backgrounds within the images, because they seem just fine to me. There's a variance between them so they don't seem static - some have more developed backgrounds while others do not.

Overall, so far so good."

Playing Catch-Up

4 months 1 week ago

"Excuse me, but I am not simply spamming the wallpapers I have commented on. I take the time to critique them as best as I can so that I'm not simply saying "Oh wow, cool, good job" to every single one. I make mention if there are things I believe can be improved upon, or if there is something about the wallpaper I really like. That's part of why it takes me so long to make up the paper count.

My issue with the paper system is that it is very easy, if you're on a roll with your downloads, to lose count of the papers you have available to you, so the site should be able to catch you before you get to this point. I personally do not like going beyond the bounds of the set rules, as those rules are in place for a reason.

Frankly, ^hatesyou if your offensive comment is the type of treatment I'll get for bringing up a legitimate issue, then no wonder I am finding less and less people pleased with the site. It's insulting to report such an issue, and have people come back and say, "What the hell are you complaining for, if anything you should be glad no one's done worse to you yet for not following the rules." What the hell? Do you think I'm stupid? If I was the type of person trying to get away with something, I wouldn't be mentioning it on the page's forum, now would I?

Do you think the base nature of humans is evil/bad?

4 months 1 week ago

"
pink-sakura
Humans are the only species on this planet with an intelligence that is capable of judging and criticizing themselves. Other animal species simply exist and survive by instinct. Survival of the fittest is how it works in the animal kingdom. Yet for humans, it's a lot more complicated than that. One can't group human beings into such a narrow space: good or evil.

I completely agree with this. Someone else in this topic mentioned that the world is inherently evil, whereas people are inherently good. That makes no sense, especially when coupled with the logic of the above quote. How is the world itself evil? One would then have to assume some sort of intelligence within our environment that works to tempt us to do "evil" deeds. While I do believe in some sort of divine being, I don't believe that our environment has the will to drive us to commit such acts.

What I truly believe is that people are driven by an inherent need to do what is best for themselves. There is no such thing as true altruism: you are helping others because it makes you feel good about yourself. This does not mean it is a bad thing, only that you cannot label anyone completely altruistic. In much the same way, it is hard to label anyone truly evil. Do I believe there have been evil acts committed by people - yes. Why? Because they completely ignored the social norms (rules set by society that allow us to determine what is "good" and "evil") of many different societies to pursue their own goals. They refuse to fit within any set of defined rules with which society can function.

Humans are social creatures capable of complex thought, born with a certain degree of inbred personality. Between their nature, and the environment which raises them, each person is found somewhere on the social scale of good or bad. How they are perceived, and the way they perceive the world at large, depends on these two elements. As such, there is no black and white, only the varying shades of gray."

Manga Characters^^

4 months 1 week ago

"Hmmm, I tend to get attached to strong women. Like Aria from Night of the Beasts. Yeah, she has her moments where she breaks down and cries her heart out, but then she picks herself up, wipes her tears, and is off to kick some more demon butt.

When it comes to guys . . . I like a whole range of different types. It really depends on where they stand within the story I guess. Some favorites are Sanosuke from Rurouni Kenshin, Sven Vollified from Black Cat, Kira/Lucifer from Angel Sanctuary, and Ludwig from Meine Liebe. I guess it depends on if I can feel some kind of connection between the character and either myself or one of my OC's (don't ask on that latter part, I'm still trying to figure it out too."

Playing Catch-Up

"Maybe this has already been discussed here, but I didn't find it when I did a brief look-through the forum. Here's my issue with the site - I collected around 330 papers, and decided to go download some scans that I had really liked from the site. As I was downloading, all of a sudden the site informs me that I ran out of papers. Oops, my bad. Thinking I still had some, maybe 3 or 4 left, I refresh the page to find that I am -110 papers! I have never had anything like that happen on any other website I have registered on. And too, when I go earning papers, it's as if they don't finish counting completely until hours later. Has this been a problem for anyone else? If so, I really think something should be done to fix the paper counter, because that is ridiculous. I have just spent I don't even know how long trying to get my paper account out of the negative so I can go back to downloading images from here. I don't want to have to worry about that sort of thing every time I come onto this site."

PSP or Nintendo DS???

How does your friends feel about mangas?

4 months 2 weeks ago

"I have one group of friends that are like me and are addicted to manga quite thoroughly. We recommend series to each other, share our scanlations that we've downloaded, etc. I have another set of friends, however, that think manga is stupid and they can't understand why I read the stuff. One friend of mine gave me a Border's giftcard for my birthday and told me I was not allowed to spend it on manga. Of course, just out of spite, I spent the whole thing on manga, haha. But in order to respect them, I try not to talk about it too much."

manga versus anime

4 months 2 weeks ago

"I will go for manga over anime any day of the week. Mainly because I am extremely picky in general about the types of shows I'll watch, anime or otherwise. Yet reading is a very common hobby of mine, as expressed by the 3 gigantic bookshelves in my room, haha. I will sometimes watch the anime of a series as well, but really only if it is different enough from the manga that I won't be overly irritated at the differences (because then I see them as completely different entities with the same name) and if the art is up to my standards."

What is the purpose of a video game?

4 months 2 weeks ago

"Hmmm, the purpose of video games? I think it's really all what you decide to make it. For my friends, video games are a good means of escaping reality and entertaining themselves with a good story now and again. Or, a lot more for the guys than girls on this one (of the people I know), it can be a means of releasing aggression with the shoot 'em up games. Me? I love visual novels - games with beautiful art styles that have me involved in an intriguing storyline (Phoenix Wright games, Hotel Dusk, etc). But I'm sure it can be different for everyone. Point being, I think whatever kind of games are put out there, it will have some kind of audience that attaches fondness to it for the purpose it served for themselves. null"
