"Ahaahaha the only thing I regret about the dance becoming this popular is that people will think we fans who have memorized are morons (or total harutards) following fads.

Personally I find it very cute and an easy way to have some fun in cons or what not, just suddenly running in with an stereo and let people join, that would be great."

"I admit the manga has too much fanservice (Nyuu fondles girls with no reason whatsoever besides liking big breasts), but one thing we should recognize is that the nakedness of dicloni is just another way of showing is that they aren't considered human or people. In key scenes naked dicloni make a stronger impact and can't help but sympathize with them and their pain.

The anime tones it down (somewhat) with the shameless fanserive, but I wish they had followed the original story and left room for a second season and finish telling the story as in the manga. 12 episodes to round up the series is too little, another 12 episode season would have round things nicely."

"Not really. Personally I didn't sympathize with the love triangle because almost all the series was focused on the quartet trying to get some money, and they didn't show enough of their quarrel to actually feel pity for them. Cowboy Bebop is a good series but the romantic part was that well executed."

"Watching older series (80s and 90s) can be very refreshing! I suggest you to try the "Macross: do you remember love" movie if you haven't watched it yet, as a little intro. Even though it can be said that newer animes use the old stuff, there are a lot of old series that outmatch the new ones. How about Saber Marionette? it's not that old but it certainly has been a while. A very old movie I remember is Perfect Blue, although maybe you have watched all this stuff already."

"I hope Angelina doesn't get the role. She looks perfect as Lara Croft, but the Mayor from GITS would look better if she had more neutral than sexy characteristics (like in the first movie). Even in Stand Alone Complex, they tried to make her sexy but she gave a lot of suave vibes. it didn't match a lot (and they toned her down in the second season)."

"Animes that leave you wanting for more usually have a great story, characters and ending. As long as this was the case, I wouldn't mind watching a ton of these.

Unfortunately it's not regular for animes like these to appear regularly, so animes that have a satisfactory ending are good too."

anime is better than movie?

"Not really, movies usually have a HUGE budget, so in the right hands and with the right script you can get a pretty good deal for an hour and a half/three hour story.

The issue isn't really anime vs movies, but your friends not liking anime. I suggest trying to find anime movies that fit their tastes, or if not possible, a series with a catching beginning. I doubt 'regular' people will like Lain or Utena, so refrain from the 'eccentric' genre.

For example, my cousin is into regular romantic comedy stories, so I showed her he first four episodes of karekano and loved it (unfortunately the story and animation goes downhil afterwards so we pretty much abandoned it).

Even so, if they don't want to change opinions just say that it's your business what to like, and try to watch or do stuff you can all share instead of trying to tear apart your different tastes."

The Ending

"Well expecting good endings (or endings AT ALL) from shonen series is too much. Those anime oriented to 10-16 year olds are long and repetitive because that's what we like at that age. I love Sailor Moon, but if someone asked me to watch a magical girl series in my now twenties I would certainly go nuts (every single episode is the same!).

I can excuse Detective Conan because I love all the murder and crimes solving stories, so the more the better.

Now more mature series I can understand. I believe an ending is even more important than the beginning. The beginning is relatively easy; you can put all the mysteries and expectations you want, but to actually fulfill them satisfactorily in the end is the real challenge.

Series following ongoing manga have not much of a choice, unless they totally divert from the original story and do something original like FMA. Or alas, do the unthinkable and show fillers.

One series that has a great ending is Saber Marionette (two seasons and OVAS), I recommend it."

"I've never been against dubs; in fact, good or decent dubs are a great reason to buy the dvds, but the One Piece dub, nay, slaughter deserves to be erased from earth. It's one thing to tolerate the voices, a whole different one if the make you cringe every second and your stomach twist. The voice actors are terrible and sometimes sound retarded (as in talking to kids retarded) and they don't fit the characters. The final punch was delivered by Sanji's voice, which was a complete nightmare and destroyed his suave/cool image I had of him and I wish I could forget it for the rest of my life.

Nevermind the censorship, in fact that was some damn good censorship, having to redraw a bunch of sequences just to erase cigarettes? complete awesome didn't even notice they were gone I bow down to the poor animator-slaves who had to do it, but that dub needs to go.

Regarding the story, from where it's going I assume that in maybe 10/20 other volumes (heavens knows the battle scenes are gonna get long) One Piece will come to an end."

How is Japanese Anime better than America Cartoons?

"American cartoons aren't worse, but they do run on lower budgets than half the animes out there. The pro in this case is that they rely more on the story than visual appeal, and you can get even more entertained than with anime.

The problem I find is that almost all "mature" american cartoons fall into the comedy/slice-of-life/parody mix. Family Guy, The Simpsons, Futurama, are but few examples. Anime is more richer genre-wise. This also leads to the fact that this kind of shows more or less follow stand-alone-per-episode scripts, everything is resolved in the same episode, and while this may be satisfying a story told throughout 13-26 chapters has the opportunity to be deeper and keep the viewer wanting for more after each episode."

"The only thing that threw me off was the guy's voice. it sounds the same throughout the movie, I wished the voice actor had tried to start with a kid like voice and keep getting deeper or mature.

What I like about this movie is that I never get tired of watching it. Every little thing is animated, and things that you take for granted in a, say live action movie like the clouds or light, can be appreciated in animation.

One recommendation to first viewers: depending on your monitor's resolution, try to get the biggest vid res you can, I have two versions and it really shows the small details."

Hating Orihime?

"She's got the unfortunate 'damsel-in-distress' label (agg, this shonen authors...) stuck on her, plus she has a very meek and shy personality.

I like her a lot, I understand why people would hate her (she contributes to no fights in the Soul Society Arc, and right afterwards keeps on moping in a cell) but personality wise she's a very beautiful character. She acts goofy not because she's stupid, but because it's her way of trying to make something better of any situation. She doesn't tell Ichitard her feelings because she likes Rukia too, and doesn't want any angst between them three. She has practically no choice when kidnapped, is either follow or die.

If we have to go to the point of pointing the most annoying character, that would be Hinamori. Here's her life-long friend worried about her yet she's still stupidly love-struck over Aizen when he literally stabbed her with deathly intentions and keeps on babbling about how Aizen's not at fault. I understand there's shock after such revelation, but running from reality to the point of being a nuisance is just cowardly."

You're right, if I like something I shouldn't care about it. But in my opinion huggable pillows look like a more blatant in-your-face shameless way of ripping you off your money than any other merchandise out there. "Well if this keeps going I'm gonna invest in a bicycle and just use the car to buy groceries. Problem is, most streets and all highways are not suited for bicycles, so there's the matter of how much time you lose riding.

That's another problem I keep on facing. Most of the time is a lot faster to ride your car than ride the bus. With the bus you have to wait an average of 30-45 minutes for it to arrive (never mind when they come every 20 minutes, it's happening less and less) and if you are in a hurry you might as well call in late.

Nowadays I just choose to stay home if I don't really need to go out. I hope gas prices go back to somewhat normal prices (even 3 dollars was a lot), but considering the greedy bastards of the oil companies that's unlikely."

"For a slice-of-life series, the ending was quite appropiate. Everything ended with their graduation, and now they all have to move own to their own colleges. They would obviously not have enough time to meet and hang out (that's a very sad reality after high school).

I do agree with Rokasomee with the singing ending; they could've showed the girls coming out of karaoke or doing some geeky like cosplay."

"I really liked this manga at the beginning, but I feel it's just dragging a dead horse around. One would feel Risa and Otani have reached a level of trust and confidence, but the author yet again stretches the plot with petty twists. Risa seems like a distrustful brat and Otani get more dense with every chapter. It's like Hana Yori Dango, it would be a lot better if the story was handled correctly and was shorter."
