Trick or Treat by °chanelqueen17 1 month 2 weeks ago

^nat
After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Would you date your self?

2 months 1 week ago

"Not really. There are many defining factors that make me masculine that I wouldn't find that appealing if they were in a female. Having someone just like me is probably the last thing I need. Same interests and all that is nice, but you would also have the same weaknesses. Without someone to lean on in your own times of weakness (and visa versa) just isn't that likely if you were the same. I'm not perfect, and I need someone to compliment me, not BE me.

Funny conversation I had with a girlfriend of mine, she brought up what would happen if she as a guy and I was a girl. I said there was no way in hell I would date her if I were a girl. I'd also be the most evil female ever, living only to make men suffer. Can't say I'd want to date that girl haha :p"

Anime/Manga and Fashion.. Have you been attracted..?

2 months 4 weeks ago

"I have to admit that I really do like the fashion in anime / manga. That's one thing I noticed about manga, is that characters can often wear very different things, while for the most part in American comics they always wear the same sorts of things.. or often the same thing for that matter.

Too bad much of the cool fashion you see in manga doesn't work well in the real world. Particularly when encountering that whole gravity thing. Props to the people who dress up for cons and still try to make it work though."

Do girls like anime as much as guys do?

3 months 3 days ago

"
Better to say girls and guys like different types of anime if they do have an liking of that sort of thing. It seems like many girls really get into shojou stuff, while guys aren't that interested in it. Considering most anime seems to be male oriented, it's probably easy for girls not to find it all that interesting if that's all they've seen of it.

America really doesn't seem to have dug into the market for comics marketed towards (teenage) girls. So would you say that only guys like comics, or that it's sort of a catch 22 since there aren't many (if any) English comics they would necessarily be interested in?"

Bing.com, Microsoft's search engine

Every now and then I have to go to Microsoft's website to look for stuff. I type stuff into their website search and I get a bunch of garbage that doesn't mean anything. I have to go to Google to search Microsoft's own website. Does that tell you anything about how much faith I have in a MS search engine?"

Wierd People

3 months 4 weeks ago

"I think AssasinXXX mainly tapped into why you'll find so many "weird" people on this site. Essentially you have a wanted resource and a currency which has to be "earned", either by messing with pictures, uploading stuff or... posting on this forum. Basically this means you have a lot of half hearted attempts to make a topic to whore for papers. This is why this forum will probably always be mediocre at best, although it has its moments.

On top of this you have pre bias based around anime. And on top of that this normally orients itself around teenagers. You put this on the Internet and tada: AP forum topics. In other words don't read too much into it, it's just junk on the Internet.

As a [former] World of Warcraft player, I'm sure you've been acquainted with the forums. People yelling at each other, saying each other is terrible and fails at whatever, and endless drama therein. Over a video game. And one that doesn't take particularly much skill at that. Scary part being that many of those people are way out of their teens and actually have kids and stuff. Which reminds me that I should probably play a bit less myself :p

It's kind of sad and scary to realize what the Internet has shaped itself as... and how I'm one of those people that probably contributed to that."

The reason macs run Photoshop and Illustrator and the other adobe suite programs better is because they are developed for the mac first and then ported over to the PC

Not sure what version of Photoshop you use, but that hasn't been true for a few years now. I think the PC version having more bugs has more to do with Microsoft than Adobe."

Relationships and breakups

4 months 1 week ago

"Guess I've only been in long term relationships really. Being naturally sort of susceptible to depression that didn't go over particularly well for me. But each time it came to an end I ended up being a much better person. I think there are a lot of mistakes that you can learn in pretty much ANY relationship, and you might not see it until it's over. They key is to try to better yourself so that in the next one everything goes better. Some people say you end up with baggage that way, but personally I think it's your decision to carry that baggage.

After my last relationship ended I decided just to take a break. Some of my friends keep trying to hook me up, and women make passes at me every now and then but I usually just pass them off. The main reason being that I was starting to see something inherently wrong with the way my relationships ended up. At that point I realized that I needed to figure things out, or my next one (or any of my next ones) would be doomed to fail. Strangely enough I actually think I figured that out after a long while. I'm glad I took the time to sort things out though, because now I better understand the way I actually sabotaged things myself.

gloomfox
If you are not happy enough with yourself to be alone, then you endanger every relationship you enter. You start the relationship in a position of weakness if you are willing to take more crap because you don't want to be alone.

Absolutely. 100% That!!

Man I had a friend who just got dumped after 17 years (yeah, he's sorta old :p) and he freaked out about it. Funny part there is that they were actually pretty miserable together, but anyway... He immediately jumped online and started franticly searching for someone. He ended up with some really wacky situations. At that point I really saw first hand the sort of wreck you can make of yourself when the driving force behind your relationships is the fear of being alone.

This is usually a good opportunity to strengthen relationships with friends btw."

A good movie

Citizen Kane is definitely amazing from a production standpoint, but it's not exactly the most enthralling film I've seen. It's not a crime to not find it entertaining. :)

I know what you mean. I actually did like the film, but having seen a lot of parodies and read a few things about it I was well aware that there was a deeper meaning in the movie. I'd hate to have watched that all the way through and then think "what in the hell is that?" right at the end. Some movies are interesting to see, just to see them. I think Citizen Kane was more along that line.

Then again I always used to hate English class where the teacher would make you read crap, then explain to you the symbolism and what it really meant. Shakespear especially. I like deeper themes to things yes, but I don't really like over thinking things at the same time. But maybe I'm too used to parking my brain whenever I watch a movie."

A good movie

4 months 3 weeks ago

"It's actually not that hard to find good movies, the problem is that you aren't looking for them.. in the right spot. Think about it. Lets say every year they come out with 6 good movies. Now lets say you go back to when "talkies" were first becoming the big thing in the 30's (metropolis is an awesome silent movie btw). 2009 - 1930 = 79 * 6 = 474. And I bet you haven't seen most of them either. I kinda realized this one day when I wanted to see a movie but couldn't think of anything I wanted to see... and I also realized that this was pretty common. But what about all those movies I hadn't seen?

So I looked it up online and started to watch classic movies. Now Citizen Kane which is reported to be the greatest film of all time is a bit too intellectual for me, but there are seriously a lot of awesome older movies. Just look up a list online and start checking into titles that may interest you.

Chances are you've seen many of the same movies as the friends you hang out with, but the nice thing about the Internet is that you can chat with people who are very different from you. Exchange movie lists and talk about why they think some films were good. If you make friends with one of those artsy people into films they'll have an endless list believe me.

Also go to blockbuster or some place and check out the foreign film section. There's really some great stuff in there."

Packaging

"Safety first kids.

Seriously though, get a good pair of wire cutters. They're not too expensive and are also useful for actually cutting wires. For stuff like this it's almost ideal since it makes cutting the packaging much easier as opposed to risking stabbing yourself and going to the ER. Also trying to get into this stuff without actually damaging the product can be a challenge in and of itself. Wire cutters <-- trust me."

Is it a must for a woman to get married?

5 months 1 week ago

"
fama-chan
You are right there but what if it’s not in the hands of that girl? What if she has no choice because of the pressure she has from the society as well as from her parents? Then I guess she has no choice.

Unless we're talking about some extremely repressed woman in the middle east or something she always has a choice. She is the one that allows society to make that choice for her. She is the one that allows her parents to make that choice for her. The decision is hers.

If she allows society to make that decision then I don't see what the problem is. She let society make that decision. Society decided for her that she should be married so she did."

Is it a must for a woman to get married?

5 months 2 weeks ago

"Is it a must? Is this really a question? Of course it's not a must. It's a social expectation. It's also an expectation that isn't going to go away for quite a while. It's only recently that people have even had a choice or not when or even if they are going to have children.

Personally I think once you drop that expectation you are actually empowered to find someone who actually suits you. Not just someone to "be married to", as you can take your time and find someone who feels right. And maybe that person will never materialize, but I'm not sure that's necessarily worse than being miserable in a marriage. I've been married and it turned into a disaster, partially because of things out of my control, but also due to personal issues that I just hadn't worked out in my own life at that point. As I've given it time I've become a better and better person, and I learn from the mistakes in each relationship I'm in. Rushing into that before you've gotten your own life strait is a formula for all sorts of extreme problems when you're hitched or even worse if you have kids caught in the middle.

Would I even get married again? I donno. I got married pretty early, and I guess from a philosophical standpoint it taught me a lot of things. My biggest problem with marriage is that it is used as a bandaid for bigger problems. Like we're only committed to each other and can trust each other if we're legally bound. You can't do that while living together? Divorce isn't as hard as it sounds, it's just like breaking up but 100 times worse. Yet people still jump ship like it's nothing.

Don't do it unless you're sure your ready. WHEN you are ready is whenever, or maybe never; but doing it before then? That's trouble"

Newlywed Wife Sells Husband’s PS3 for Fun

"
animaniac525
Lol. So basically everyone is a bit outraged by her actions.. XD I wonder how the guy is feeling o__o It would be interesting to know what he did. lol

I'm sure the guy is still oblivious. Did she come out and do this right out of the blue? Doubtful. He might think so, but it's doubtful. She obviously feels neglected, so under normal circumstances we can assume he's spending more time on his PS3 then doing "married stuff" with her. Again, assuming she isn't one of those crazy women who demand you spend every waking hour with them. This guy married this woman and didn't see it coming? Really? If so I doubt this guy even understands the person he's hitched to.

Doomed marrage already in a tailspin. Can they recover? If she's doing things behind his back, then obviously there is no communication or he's just not listening. So doomed it is.

Also, to the people who say it's easily replaceable: If he had a PS3 with hardware PS2 support, those aren't easy to come by and haven't been made in years. On Amazon there are old models selling for $1000 (I know. I checked.)"

Hey Guys, Am I Indecent Yet?

2 years 2 months ago

"I agree with mcz928 that it depends on your community. I'd also like to say that humanity seems to cycle between repression and debauchery depending upon various influences. At times one culture will be subverted by another and take on its attributes. Other times you have things like religion changing the standards. For example sometimes I get crap from "conservative" people for having long hair, and how people didn't have long hair back in their day. I usually point out that I'm going for the truly old school look, like Jesus. Times change, and it goes both ways.

There's probably a good balance in between the two extremes, but it seems like cultures tend to slide from one end to the other never hitting and sticking to the center. In modern times it's particularly a point of conflict because even if you say shelter your kids from everything, the second you turn on the TV there's people bumping and grinding on it. "

Do you live an interesting life?

2 years 3 months ago

"
Apology
May you live in uninteresting times.

Heh, the old Chinese curse I was about to post myself. And the sad part is that I've actually found it to be somewhat true as well. Whenever my life is calm and I am content and happy with it, are the periods that are describable as boring. Well who wants to hear about the guy who has a happy ordinary life and goes to bed happy every day? No one. Now the guy who loses his woman, goes on a 3 week drinking bender only to wake up hand cuffed to the leader of a biker gang in the middle of a bank robbery - yeah, EVERYONE wants to hear THAT story.

If I could trade any part of my life that was even remotely interesting for happiness I'd do it in a second -_-; People also tend to romanticize what they think is "interesting""

Two OS Systems in one.....

2 years 4 months ago

"I'd recommend sticking with XP if I were you. Vista comes with this crazy new bootloader that is a pain in the ass. It requires that a disk ID is stored on the boot sector so if you overwrite it with another bootloader, Vista will not see the disk ID it needs to and will not boot. Some bootloaders may be small enough to avoid this issue. I got Vista to dual boot with FreeBSD and it worked... alright. Sometimes Vista would just lose the hard drive and wouldn't boot, usually the repair disk managed to resuscitate it.

Anyway, if you don't think you'll need Vista, I'd stick with XP for now."

CPU-Fan Stickage

2 years 5 months ago

"The lever mechanism doesn't unnecessarily hold processors as solidly as you would think. I've pulled one or two that were supposed to be locked. Evilgerbil is probably right though. Pulling is probably a bad idea. Myself I would probably wedge a flathead screwdriver in the heat sink for more leverage and then slowly twist. I think the pins will be ok provided there's no space between the CPU and socket, but bending is of course always possible Thermal goop may get fairly hard, but even when you actually burn the cheaper stuff to the CPU it's not totally solid."

CPU-Fan Stickage

2 years 5 months ago

"What kind of CPU? If it's a pentium generation CPU, the only time they typically bonded the fan to the processor was when they were both removable. If there's a small gap between the processor and the heat sink, you can usually insert a flat head screw driver and eventually pry them apart with enough pressure while not cracking the cpu itself (I always bend the pins though).

The only other scenario I can think of where the CPU is stuck to the heat sink is the Pentium II. You should always be able to remove them together from the slot, however there are a lot of really stupid designs that make the fan almost impossible to replace on those machines."

Paris Hilton in Jail

2 years 6 months ago

"Boy you people are really heartless. This is a living breathing... organism...(probably). It's really tough out there you know. Like driving under the influence. Sure there are technicalities about it like being... illegal, but it can be a tough choice. Like you go day in and day out partying all the time because you don't have to work for a living, then you do a bunch of drugs and booze and have to get home to the mansion afterwards but then realize "Oh crap, I forgot my chauffeur"! I mean what are you gonig to do then? Call a taxi?!? Whatever I mean you go spending cash like that and pretty soon instead of a million dallars you only have $999,950. That will nickel and dime all your money away in no time!

Then you go drive and get busted but it's no big deal because your rich and stuff. But then the cops are all like "Yeah, we don't care that your rich, you broke the law". What in the heck is that about? I mean rich people are subjected to laws now? Next thing you know they'll have to pay taxes!

I feel very sorry that such talent that has released a music CD, stared in movies and TV and porno would have to be incarcerated. I can only hope that Paris will not dilute herself in the prison environment by accidentally giving some of her fellow inmates STDs or something. It's a sad sad day... mainly because someone said I could get a Wii at Target but they were out again, but I guess in a way because of the Paris Hilton thing too."

Marital Obligations

2 years 6 months ago

"You may have the terms wife and sex slave confused. Yeah I know, easy to do with all you kinky girls out there =P

If you don't want to sleep with your husband for a really long time, prepare to get cheated on. You are taking away one of the three basic needs of men.

I might be flamed but oh well, I will go with this. I wouldn't say sex is a part of life that is as necessary as say, breathing or sleeping; but it has historically been a fundamental need of men - and maybe women too for that matter. A marriage is unity, but you are not enslaved to each other. If one person doesn't want to have sex, then they are free to do so. Just as they are free to treat the other person like crap. There are consequences in everything.

I've always maintained that a relationship MUST have 3 aspects: a woman must be a friend, a partner and a lover. If any of those things are missing then it won't work. All this works in reverse from the womans perspective too. In the end communication is most important in marage. Maybe if she doesn't want to have sex with you she'll still "play the flute", or buy you a sheep or something."
