This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Atheism, a religion?

"Kudos to you, damoser, and you, loudacryx for being able to carry out a discussion, and not a flaming war XD It's also good to see that believers and atheists are not bashing at each other, but actually can be friends too =p I would be disappointed if my friends treat me differently just because I'm an atheist. Thankfully most of them are open-minded, and can accept the fact XDWould you care to elaborate your statement above? I'm interested to know >.<

Nodame Cantabile

"I just finished watching the first episode of Nodame Cantabile, and boy, I was laughing so hard that my stomach ached. I think the artist drew the musical instruments really well (I'm a pianist, and I can see the difference), and the 'Yamaha' sign on it looks real enough XDThe quality of the animation is also good, and I like the way the characters were drawn. The classical music used in the anime is also nice >.< The detail paid to the music scores and instruments really paid off. I can see that it was really well done.
Nodame smells~~ >.< and it's extremely kind of Chiaki to help clean up her apartment. And his expressions...it's so hilarious that I was laughing to myself all the way XD
*Going to buy the whole series to enjoy*
What do you think about Nodame Cantabile?"

Nosebleeds

"This was an event that happened in the last few days. I was reading a yaoi manga on my computer. After I finished the whole thing, I went to the washroom, and blood flowed out of my nose XDThen, I thought about the scene in movies and animes, where when people (mostly guys) see a really pretty and sexy girl, they will get a nosebleed. Is it just for humor's sake, or do we really get nosebleeds when we see something explicit, sexy etc? Does it have something to do with our body temperature as well?"

"Even if there are people who disagree, the scientists will also go on with their research and inventions. People are afraid of war, and oppose the creations of new weapons. Do we see a stop or decrease in weapons production? No.Still, these are & D stuff should be put under control by a set of laws, to ensure that the product will not cause any harm to us, and to the environment."

Atheism, a religion?
7 months 3 weeks ago
"I see. Maybe the active atheist friend you have is more fanatic, but I can assure you that most of the atheists I know are just atheists. I mean, they don't try to convert other people's beliefs, nor do they speak lowly of other religions or show disrespect for them. Although I'm an atheist, I dislike those who try to talk others out of their religion, because everyone has a freedom to choose what they want to believe in.But, it's not only atheists who will show disrespect for others' religions, or try to convert them for that matter. No matter Christians, Moslem or Buddhists, some will also try to get their friends, relatives etc to convert to the same religion. Some believers who are fanatic to their own religion will also hurl insults to other people's religion, so it's not only about atheists. It's about the attitudes of everyone. What I'm saying here is that, the bad side of atheists show up in non-atheists too.
Can you explain more on your third paragraph?"

What motivates you to work part-time job?
7 months 3 weeks ago
"However, for students, the part time jobs we can get are few, because we can't work permanently. And the salary is usually little compared to the permanent workers. But for my music job, the pay is a lot higher, because the job needs some degree of knowledge...so it's better to learn up a skill so that you can use it to earn money in the future XD I'm grateful to my parents for sending me to music lessons. But I'm waiting for results now, and my future is still some kind of an uncertainty...so I work mostly for the money, because my parents agreed to let me spend what I have earned by myself freely~"

However, once I inserted the disc into the drive, it jammed, and I can't eject it, manually or by clicking the 'eject' button in My Computer. Atheism, a religion?
7 months 3 weeks ago
"I think it's not much as whether the religion allows doing bad things, it's more of what actions the people who have authority in a particular religion will take. There are responsible religion leaders as well as irresponsible ones. Of course, all the teachings in most main religions, if not all, encourages the believers to be good. But, the problem now is we humans.Remember, in history there is a practice of buying 'forgiveness certificates'? Those people who have committed sins will spend money to buy certificates to 'erase' their wrongdoings. If I did not remember wrongly, this event eventually led to the Protestant movement by Martin Luther. Although I'm not a Christian, I'm sure that the religion does not allow buying certificates to erase sins. At the end, it's still us humans who distort religion, and twist it around to suit our own desires. That's why I choose not to believe.
Erm...What I'm trying to say here is that, every religion is good in the essence, but good religions are easy to achieve - it's just talk anyway. The real problem lies in how to make humans act the way good religions want them to."

Atheism, a religion?

"I won't say that there's nothing productive about religious practices, because I have seen a few examples where religion has indeed helped someone to change for the better. But, in my experience, such cases are few and rare in between. Or maybe it's because I haven't seen the better people yet, those who are willing to give up their bad practices for their religion.
By the way, would you care to elaborate about your sentence in the 2nd paragraph: 'I've seen the bad side of atheism too many times'? Are you sure that the bad things atheists do won't be done by those who have religion?
In my opinion, all of us are the same whether we believe in a religion or not. It's our character that makes the difference."

Responsibility

"What do you think is the best way to care for our parents then? Is giving them money enough?By the way, most young people will move out of their parents house once they get of age. I think that some married couples also prefer not to stay with their parents as they want to have some privacy. Some young people also cannot tolerate their parents, especially when the old folks are slow in doing everything, and need help doing simple things...
For those who are around 25 and above: Will you live with your parents if they want you to? Why?
For those not yet 25 (still living with parents): Do you think that you can stand living with your parents if you are already married?"

What motivates you to work part-time job?
7 months 3 weeks ago
"I finished my government exams last December, and on the night of the last day of exam itself, I went for work as a music teacher. Actually, I have been working as a music teacher since I was 15, so it was just a kind of continuing where I left off. Then, I got another job as a kindergarten teacher, which requires me to work in the morning.Of course, what motivates me to take so many jobs is the money I get ^.^ Then, I get a lot of experience from working too. For the music teaching job, as I teach the students, I learn at the same time >.< Personally, I love music, so it's fun getting paid while doing the stuff I like, unless when the students are throwing some kind of tantrum, or they did not practice, etc.
From the kindy job, I get knowledge on how to take care of children, deal with them in a proper way. It's like training for the future - *if* I have kids (I don't plan to XD)
So, the money and the experience is mainly why I work a part-time job. But these part-time jobs are not what I want to work in the future...I'm aiming for a better career with a more luxurious salary. =p *I'm materialistic, I know*"

Exam Results Failed: Your Reactions?
7 months 3 weeks ago
"I agree with Loudacryx (about why people will commit suicide just over failing a test). But it's not only neglect that's causing this problem. Of course, parents who don't pay attention to their children's emotional needs might cause the children to be depressed, and eventually kill oneself. But I think it's more because of the parents nowadays are very materialistic - they hammer into their children's heads that grades are extremely important, and that it's very bad to fail an exam. Parents normally put pressure on their kids too, and they will stress that the kids must get good results, in order to go into a good school in the future, have good career prospects...etc etc. If they get bad grades, they get scolded and punished. After a while, they will be accustomed to this way of thinking, and when they fail their exams for some reason, they will be so afraid of what their parents will do, that they opt for the 'easy' way out - suicide.
In my opinion, parents should be more caring to their kids, and motivate them to work harder in the next exam instead of scolding them. In this way, the kids will feel better, and the rate of school kids committing suicide will decrease."

Exam Results Failed: Your Reactions?

"It's quite normal to cry when one gets bad results...but committing suicide? That's too over in my opinion. People who hang themselves when they fail a test are too...how to say...either they have extremely low self esteem or they have low EQ. Both are equally bad.Low self esteem is because they might think that they are worth only what that's printed in their report books, and anything else about them are not important. I mean, life is not all about studies, we have to face a lot of other obstacles along the way. Some of the people in my school are like that: they get really good results, but they simply don't know how to do anything else, like sports and such, and they are bad in socializing with other people.
Low EQ is because they don't understand life. If one gives up just because of a failure, he or she is very immature, and if I'm harsh, I will say that they are stupid =.=
Anyway, it's absolutely pointless to give up life just because of failing a test, though more students are doing it these days...I wonder why? Is it because of the distorted education system that puts pressure on students?"

Atheism, a religion?
7 months 3 weeks ago
"I watched this thread since it started, and gradually developed into what that seems like a flame war. Thankfully Kalico stepped in to intervene before all of us start to throw insults at each other.Neither you or I am in a position to speak for atheists as a whole. I'm an atheist myself, and I don't think that people who believe in religion are weak minded. Some, maybe, but most of them are strong in heart and will. And it's true that there are quite a number of examples in history where a religious leader have brought good to the people under him or her. I have learnt that in the History subject at school. One distinct example I can remember is that King Asuka, after embracing the religion of the Buddha, chose to enlarge his territory by diplomatic means, rather than having wars. As a result, the lives of some few thousand of people were saved.
And being an atheist does not mean that I look down on people who follow the teachings of a religion. I only look down on those who actually have the mind to believe that their God would want them to fight for the purpose of harming others, i.e: the terrorists involved in the 911 incident, the Taliban people who held others as hostages and such.
Whether one has a religion or not, he or she is still required to do good, and refrain from harming anyone. At least, I believe so. And it does not make a difference in this world we live in, where people are getting selfish and would not hesitate to harm people for their own benefits regardless of whether they are followers of a religion.
Lastly, I wish to emphasise that, please don't differentiate one another based on whether they have a religion or not. To me, everyone is the same. They have the potential to be good or bad, and it's not always the religion that affects their choices."

ALI PROJECT

"The first song I have ever heard of Ali-Project is 'Gesshouku Grand Guignol' from the anime 'Avenger'. I was attracted to how they managed to compose such a unique type of music. Then, I went and download most of their songs they sang for anime, and I was pleased to hear that all of the songs they sing can be easily recognised by their style and way of singing.I also found it extremely nice that they can mix some *distorted* classical music into their songs, for example: 'Jigoku no Kisetsu', also from the anime Avenger, 'God Diva' - hackRoots, and many more.
Some of my friends say that their music is very annoying to hear, but I find it unique and interesting. So far, all of their songs I have heard are mostly from anime...do you guys have any recommendations on Ali-Project's non-anime songs? >.<"
