This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

"The design looks fine to me, but you'll need to address some image quality problems - there is a lot of artifacting going on in the wallpaper - along the edges and outlines of the scan, around the sakura petals and the trees as well. The gradient of the sky is also not smooth and is artifacted (blocks) in places. Please make sure you're saving the wallpaper at an appropriate quality setting; use file->save for web at around a 70% quality setting.I don't think you'll need any more sakura petals, although some stars in the sky might be a nice addition.
Good luck!"

"Are you posting artwork or a wallpaper? If this is supposed to be artwork it should go in the artists alley subforum, this here is for help with making and improving wallpapers before submission. If that's supposed to be a wallpaper, it's waaay to small to properly see and comment on the design and image quality. The minimum size for a wallpaper submission here is 1024x768; please see the wallpaper guide for the full list of resolutions as well as other requirements for wallpaper submission.
And don't make multiple threads/posts for the same thing!

Can I submit my first wallpaper??

"The image of Mitsuki is obviously resized up from a smaller image, and that is a no-no because it causes the image quality to become very poor, as can be seen by the blurry pixelated lines. You will have to redo with a larfer scan, or if you use the same one, do not blow it up in this manner. It also looks like there was artifacting in the scan you used, because other parts of your wallpaper are not artifacted. You'll need to do some scan cleaning if you're going to use this scan again.
Cheers!"

"First off, there is an awful lot of artifacting in your wallpaper. Please make sure you are saving it at a suitable quality setting by using File->Save for web at around a setting of 70%.There are issues with your scan extraction, for instance along the side of the thigh in the lower left scan. For extraction tips see these tutorials:

Design-wise it looks like you're going for a techy look; however the font you've used for the "Elhaim" text is not of a suitable style, you might want to change that. The background could also use more work with additional techy designs and motifs.
Lastly, you might want to shrink your sig and move it into the bottom corner where it would be inconspicuously covered by the taskbar. Some people don't fancy having your name in the middle of the wall like that.
Good luck!"

a little help with the beginning

"There are several issues with this wall, the most urgent of which are:- chopped-off scan
The scan you used does not show the entire character, Kamui has got his elbow and his feet chopped off, and that is unsightly. You could align the scan to the bottom of the wall to solve the problem with the missing feet, but for the elbow, you'll probably need to do scan extension and paint it in by yourself. Considering this is your first wallpaper, this may be a bit hard, so if you don't feel up to it maybe you should be looking for a better scan to use instead.
- extraction
The extraction of Kamui from the scan is poorly done, with a lot of jaggedness and little specks of the background remaining. To do this properly please see these tutorials:
http://www.animepaper.net/group/designdepot/discussions/30374/
http://www.animepaper.net/group/designdepot/discussions/30234/
http://www.animepaper.net/group/designdepot/discussions/30346/
- background
You have these rectangular blocks of various patterns, and then starry sky top and bottom, which are not working together. Give a bit more thought to what you want to do with the background. Some tips from the wallpaper guide:
Good luck!"

"Check to see if you've accidentally blocked images from the site -- go to Tools->Options
- go to the 'Content' tab
- make sure that 'load images' is checked on
- click the 'exceptions' button on the right of 'load images' and make sure animepaper is not blocked in that list
This happens if you accidentally mis-click the "Block images from..." when you right click a pic."

Need help with my first wall
2 years 2 months ago
"This won't do. A screencap is much too small and low quality to be used in a wall unless you vector or re-cg it. In this case you've basically resized it up and blurred it, both of which cause the quality to deteriorate further. Attempting to get around this problem by using that speckly filter doesn't help either.
Either revector/re-cg from the screencap, or get yourself a real scan to work with. The image quality of this is probably beyond rescue already.
You'll also need to to better than a plain one-color background and cheesy text like that. Please, read the wallpaper guide and understand the requirements for a wallpaper of acceptable quality."

"Give the bird silhouettes some gaussian blur to push them into the background; they're standing out a bit too much and distracting attention from the main scan.Other than that, it's all good to go, imho.

"While you did a decently good job with the vectoring, the mod who rejected you probably thought the background was too simple. The best way to confirm why you got rejected is to PM the mod who rejected it, give them the link to this thread here, and politely ask for their crit and suggestions.Personally, I rather like the way the background is nicely color coordinated with the character vector. There are a few minor glitches in the light border around the character that I spotted that you might want to fix, though:
Good luck!"

"Perhaps a very slight (<1px) gaussian blur on the vector outlines to smooth it out a bit and so that the vector isn't so strong against the background. Other than that, you're good to go. Nice work!"View

"Read the guide, especially the wallpaper guide. Your wallpaper is not the right size nor the right dimensions even if you make it bigger. Also, just a quick note - don't just resize your wallpaper up to make it satisfy the size requirements; this will cause the image quality to deteriorate."

"You could work some more on most of the vectors, smooth out all those angular polygonal shapes into nice curves - for instance, the hair, hairpin, grass, wings for the pants. The grass is very repetitive as well, would be good if you made more different stalks of grass instead of using just the same few.
Lastly, it's not obvious what the green patch at bottom of background is supposed to be. Is it grassy ground? If that is the case you should remove those grass stalks because it doesn't look right to have them at the horizon - the further away things are, the less detail you see, so you shouldn't be able to see each stalk of grass at that distance.
If it's a wall of some kind (with the grass growing on top?) - that's what it looks like to me now - perhaps change the color and add simple detail like bricks.
Cheers!"

Does the Final Fantasy 7 movie come with cheese?
2 years 2 months ago
"I don't think many people were really expecting FF7AC to have a real plot. You have to see it for what it is - extended merchandising and marketing for a very successful franchise, fodder for fandom. In that aspect, it has certainly succeeded greatly in its objective.Having said that, I enjoyed to movie for what it is. The action sequences were a thrill to watch, and it's always nice to see CG animation of this quality - I am always amazed by the advances in CG when comparing back to the original blocky characters with limited polygon count. =Þ
As for the lack of realism and physics, it's not something that's unique to this show; a lot of games and movies require the use of unobtanium and handwavium - you have to ignore lapses in realistic treatment, just accept it and enjoy the show. ^^"
