"You've not necessarily been "doing it wrong" however you're failing to see the point of submitting vector traced images for the use of others. "Vectors", (as they have incorrectly named around these parts) are intended as a high quality alternative to an original scan. As such they need to meet or exceed the quality of the original image in all aspects.

Hand drawn images (which is the basic beginning of any scan) have variations in line weight. This variation creates emphasis and interest within the image that uniform line weights do not. As such, recreating the image with uniform lines fails to meet or exceed the original images quality in that respect.

To simulate varied line weight, you can look at applying brushed strokes or preferably stop using strokes all together and create lines as thin fills.

"The situation within the context of the game is too far removed from reality to be considered much more than a plot twist. Within a court of law, there's no opportunity for a defense lawyer to directly enter a plea on the defendants behalf and by the ethics of the institution that is the legal bar, a lawyer may not take a case where there is personal involvement.

That means to realistically consider the situation, it must be removed from a court of law. With double jeorpardy removed from the equation, the dilemma disolves. There's no reason the kidnapped friend cannot be saved by defending the guilty only to later explain the situation when the friend is safe.

In the context of the game however, consider Maya's immediate safety as with most situations in that game, it will turn about in your favor and in the favor of justice in the end."
